TOPIC: BEYOND BEING BLESSED

SCRIPTURE: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. GENESIS 12:2-3.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is something better than being blessed, and that is being a blessing.

Scriptures make it clear that there is a divine purpose for the Blessing of God in our lives. There is a purpose for our being blessed —and that is being a blessing.

It is important to take note of the following key facts regarding the Blessing of God.
1. There is something better than being blessed.
There is something higher and better than being blessed, and that is being a blessing. Some people ask, "Lord, bless me. Lord, bless me. I want to be blessed."
But there is something better than having a car to drive, a house to live in, the ability to travel overseas, or the ability to go shopping around the world.
Beloved, there is something better than being blessed, and that is being a blessing.
2. The Blessing is designed to be a flowing river
The Blessing is not designed to be a stationary dam; the Blessing is designed to be a flowing river.
3. Requests for the Blessing without the desire to be a blessing cannot be granted
Asking God to bless you without the desire to be a blessing is making requests that cannot be granted because He says, "I will bless you, and you shall be a blessing." (Genesis 12:2).
That is, “If you shall not be a blessing, I will not bless you.” Many people ask why God has not changed their story, not knowing that what would change their story is being a blessing.
4. A Blessing that won't flow won't last
A Blessing that will not flow will not come, and if it comes, it cannot last.
I'm not talking about money; people can make money. I'm talking of the Blessing of God.

Beloved, I trust God to spark in you a passion to do something beyond you for your generation.
Now, how do you become a blessing after being blessed?
We will be looking at one of the ways today: It is by being a blessing through offering livelihood to multitudes.
How many people owe their livelihood to your blessing? In Genesis 14:14, the Bible says of Abraham, And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
So, people were working for Abraham; he was also raising other people’s children.
Beloved, I want your mind to be revolutionized. You can trust God for money to make jobs available for people. Don’t forget that God’s purpose for you is not only to be blessed, but to be a blessing.

REMEMBER THIS: There is something better than being blessed, and that is being a blessing.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Determine to be a blessing, not just being blessed.
2. Practically be a blessing to your neighbourhood, church, community, town, nation, generation; find out what to do to bless the lives of people around you.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. Help me to live beyond myself and be a blessing to my world, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: CALLED UNTO PRIESTHOOD.

SCRIPTURE: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 PETER 2:9.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every child of God has a duty to minister to the Lord.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that we have a calling not just unto kingship, but also unto priesthood. Revelation 5:10 corroborates this: And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

In our study today, we shall explore the duty of priests and qualifications for priesthood.

*Now, if we have the assignment of a priest, what is our duty or job description?*

1. To bear the ark of the covenant (Deuteronomy 10:8).

The priest has a duty of carrying the Presence of God. The priest is a Divine Presence carrier. So, as a child of God, you are to be a carrier of the Presence of God. That is, people should feel God as they come around you.

Beloved, your duty as a priest is not complete until someone feels God when they come around you. The ark of the covenant is the symbol of the Presence of God.

2. To stand before the Lord to minister to Him (Acts 13:1-2). Every child of God has a duty to minister to the Lord. For some of us who are pastors, you have no right to minister to the people if you are not ministering to God. Ministering to the Lord is bringing pleasure to God by offering the sacrifices of worship and praise and encountering God in the climate of communion.

3. To stand in the gap of intercession for the people (Job 42:10). Many times, we pray for ourselves, and that is good, but once in a while, let us do what Job did (Job 42:10).

Now, what are the requirements or qualifications for priesthood?

1. Being separated unto God (Numbers 8:14). You must be separated from your unbelieving friends, colleagues, and family members. Something must be different about you. You must be separated from sin, separated from certain lifestyles, and associations. There are people that you cannot call friends; you know them, you are not angry with them, but you don’t fraternize with them.

2. Living in the Presence of God at the place of prayer (Deuteronomy 10:8).

3. Being addicted to the Word of God. To be a carrier of the Presence of God, you must be addicted to His Word.

Malachi 2:7 says, For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

Beloved, no day should pass without a Scripture entering your spirit. No day is permitted to pass without meditating on the Word.

REMEMBER THIS: Every child of God has a duty to minister to the Lord.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Always remember that you have been called unto priesthood; you should be separated unto God.

2. Give yourself to consistent study of the Word and prayer.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for calling me unto priesthood. Help me to be consecrated unto You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE DANGERS OF THE CARES AND ANXIETIES OF LIFE.

SCRIPTURE: Take heed and beware of covetousness, for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. LUKE 12:15.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Anything that blocks the Word of God from your heart eventually blocks life itself.

In our journey through life, it is crucial to understand that the Word of God is not just information; it is our lifeline. Scripture tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17), and the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17; Habakkuk 2:4).

Now, if faith is a product of the Word, and we live by faith, then our lives are hanging on the Word. Therefore, anything that hinders the Word must be dealt with critically.

The Bible speaks of the seed that fell among thorns. It says the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choked them, and they became unfruitful. Seed, here refers to the Word of God. In other words, the Word was received; but it could not produce results in the lives of the recipients because of the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches (Matthew 13:22).

In our study today, we shall explore the cares and anxieties of Life that can hinder the effect or productivity of the Word in our lives.

1. A life driven by wants and needs.
This is a life that revolves around survival, bills, pressures, and necessities. Every conversation, every thought, every prayer is about needs. That level of anxiety blocks spiritual reception.

2. A life focused mainly on problems and challenges.
You can magnify problems until solutions disappear. A small coin held close enough to the eye can block the sun. Problems are like that—if you bring them too close, they block God, the Word, the church, and even hope itself.

3. A life devoid of contentment. This is the life driven by covetousness and materialism—never satisfied, always competing, borrowing to impress, chasing what your level cannot sustain. That lifestyle leaves no room for the Word.

4. A life handling its own worries instead of handing them to God. “Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.” — 1 Peter5:7. There is only one solution to life’s burdens—God. Self-management of worry leads to spiritual exhaustion.

Now, what are consequences of a care-driven life?

1. Diversion of your life’s energy. Your time, thoughts, efforts, and emotional strength are consumed by worries. No strength is left for prayer, growth, or faith.

2. Magnification of challenges and minimization of spiritual solutions.
Whatever you focus on increases. A focus on the negatives enlarges problems and shrinks divine solutions. Soon, God Himself begins to look small.

3.Suffocation of spirituality. The Bible says the cares of this world choke the Word. Excessive worry suffocates prayer, Bible study, fasting, and spiritual discipline.

Beloved, anxiety does not add anything to life—Jesus said worry cannot add even one cubit to your height (Matthew 6:27). You cannot grow by worrying; you only tire yourself. Cast all your cares upon Him.

Remember this: Anything that blocks the Word of God from your heart eventually blocks life itself.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Refuse a material-centered life.
2. Deliberately hand over your worries to God.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love. I receive grace today to release my cares unto You. Help me, Lord to esteem Your Word more than my necessary food, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
