TOPIC: YOUR CONSCIENCE AND YOUR FAITH

SCRIPTURE: Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 1 Timothy 1:19

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Faith answers to a pure conscience.

There is a connection between your conscience and the vitality of your faith. For example, a car may have the engine, the electrical system, and all the other systems in place, but no matter how beautiful or functional the car is, there must be fuel, engine oil, and other things before it can move.

In the same manner, there are some critical things that must be in place for faith to work.

In today’s study, we shall explore one of the critical things needed for the working or potency of faith.

The force of a good conscience. We can call it uprightness or righteousness. The Scripture makes it clear in 1 Timothy 1:19 that there is a link between a good conscience and active faith. In other words, the mystery of faith answers to a pure conscience. If faith must work effortlessly, conscience must be pure. It is not possible for conscience to be evil or defiled, and faith is potent.

Please, take note of the following:

1. Boldness can never be there if conscience is not clear.

Proverbs 28:1 says, The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2. Access to God is denied where conscience is not clear.

We need access to God for faith to work. In other words, if the conscience is not clean, access is blocked.

Hebrews 10:22 says, Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Examples abound in Scripture of men who demonstrated rugged boldness by virtue of good conscience.

In 1 Samuel 12:3-4, Samuel stood before the people and asked them to point out if he had ever defrauded anyone of them, and they said that he had never defrauded them. Later in that same chapter, he declared rainfall in the dry season, and God answered him. That was the boldness of faith backed by a clear conscience.

Our master Jesus Himself says in John 8:46, Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

Also, in John 14:30, He says, Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Beloved, if you want your faith to work, exercise yourself always to have a conscience that is void of offence towards God and towards men.

You cannot deliberately hurt people, live with a defiled conscience and expect faith to work. It does not work like that. The force of good conscience is critical to the operation of faith.

REMEMBER THIS: Faith answers to a pure conscience.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Examine your life today and begin to deal with anything that defiles your conscience.
2. Maintain a conscience that is void of offence towards God and men.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to maintain a pure conscience so I can walk in faith, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE SECRET OF AN EAGLE.

SCRIPTURE: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. ISAIAH 40:31.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The level of your thought determines the level of your life. You can't live a life that is higher than your thought.

The Scripture above makes it clear that every child of God is a covenant eagle. Every child of God is an eagle of a spiritual kind. If you understand the results of the eagle, then you understand the expected results of your destiny in the kingdom. If you understand the secrets of the eagle, then you can understand the secrets of your arrival at your God-ordained place of destiny.
The eagle is the king of birds. It is also a symbol of authority, dignity, and royalty. It is the king of everything that flies. The meaning of that to you as a child of God is that wherever you are found, you are to be second to none.

The eagle is also a symbol of power and strength. …They that wait on the Lord, they shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as the eagle… (Isaiah 40:31).
And exploits in life belong to the strong. That is why the Scripture says in Daniel 11:32b …the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. The weak don't command exploits.

Now, what are the secrets of the eagle?

1. Addiction to Height.

The eagle is addicted to height. How does that relate to you? Refuse the ground level. Don't think down or low. Refuse the grasshopper mentality – Numbers 13:33.
The level of your thought determines the level of your life. You can't live a life that is higher than your thought. Don't think base-level thoughts. Don’t think ordinary level thoughts. The highest level possible for a child of God to function is where you should be thinking of operating in. Do you know that the major difference between Esau and Jacob was their thought levels and patterns? Esau was thinking of hunger, while Jacob was thinking of inheritance. Jacob was thinking of their covenant lineage and heritage.

2. Solidity of Character.

The eagle is known to be a symbol of character. The Eagle does not taste food that is stale. It does not taste corruption. In addition to this, the eagle is joined to a mate for life. And it is character that undergirds destiny.

3. Stability of Life.

The eagle is stable. The Bible says it dwelleth upon the rock, not on slippery grounds (Job 39:38). The eagle is stable on solid ground. It is not unstable; it is not flippant. It is not unreliable. There are people whose lives are too unstable to make any meaningful mark on the earth.

Beloved, your physical height is not as important as the height of your mind and thought. Nothing is as predictive of the direction and quality of your life as the level of your thought.

REMEMBER THIS: The level of your thought determines the level of your life. You can't live a life that is higher than your thought.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Go through today’s study again
2. Ask God for the grace to function as an eagle.

PRAYER: Father, deposit in my life after the leadership virtue and character of the eagle. I receive the grace to function in strength, dignity, authority, and royalty, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE PATHWAY TO DIVINE PURPOSE

SCRIPTURE: And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. Habakkuk 2:2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What is driving you determines what you can drive, and what moves you determines what you can move.

There are many people today who want to live a life of vision and purpose, but they sincerely do not know how to go about it. They want to live on purpose, but they do not know what to spend their life pursuing. Many in this category are left with the tragedy of chance or aimless existence. They are being constantly hounded with the questions: “What do I spend my life pursuing? How do I know what to place in front of me? How do I avoid the tragedy of random and aimless living? How do I know where to direct my time, energy and resources? They don’t know how to avoid the tragedy of random living and chance existence.

Today, we shall explore four channels through which vision and purpose can be accessed.

1. Direction from the Lord (Habakkuk 2:1).

Direction from the Lord may arrive in the form of a dream, as it was with Joseph when he had dreams. He dreamed the dreams that revealed his future and what he was going to do with his life (Genesis 37:5-9).

It may also arrive in the form of a voice, like the voice that spoke to Saul of Tarsus on the way to Damascus and redirected the course of his life and destiny (Acts 9:3-6). Direction can come through any avenue that the Lord chooses to speak to a person.

2. Revelation from the Word (Jeremiah 2:31).

Beyond reading and hearing the Word, the Scripture makes it clear that we can also see the Word. …and will watch to see what he will say unto me… (Habakkuk 2:1). God expects us to see something when He speaks to us.

A vision can be birthed out of Scripture. Something becomes a picture to you from the Scripture, thereby birthing and clarifying a purpose.

3. Passion and compassion of the heart (Nehemiah 1:1-4).

There is a connection between your heart’s burden and your life’s bearing. Nehemiah heard about the broken walls of Jerusalem, and he sat down, wept, mourned, fasted, and prayed. That burden in his heart became the bearing of his life.

4. Manifestation of potentials (Proverbs 18:16).

What you are wired to do determines what you will be hired to do by God and by your generation.

Beloved, your vision can also come from what you have passed through. What you suffered can be connected to what you will offer. Pain can birth purpose.

REMEMBER THIS: What is driving you determines what you can drive, and what moves you determines what you can move.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Ask God to open your eyes to see His purpose for your life more clearly.
2. Study the Word prayerfully and expect God to reveal direction through Scripture.
3. Identify the burdens, passions, and potentials God has placed in your heart.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace to discover everything You have put inside me. Open my eyes to behold wonders out of Your Word and lead me into the vision and purpose You have ordained for my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE FUEL OF GODLY CHARACTER

SCRIPTURE: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your love for God compels your obedience to Him.

Character, Godly character is the bedrock of destiny. Godly character is critical factor to destiny fulfilment. Character is an essential ingredient in the journey of life and destiny.

But character itself is fuelled by certain factors and forces. Those are the factors that make for the availability or lack of Godly character.

In our study today, we shall be looking at some of the factors or forces that fuel Godly character.

1. The fear of God and love for God.

Proverbs 8:13 says, The fear of the LORD is to hate evil..

That is, you are not just avoiding evil; you hate it. That was the testimony of Job; he feared God and eschewed evil (Job 1:1). Joseph also feared God so much that he couldn’t pay his brethren back for the evil they did to him. Genesis 42:18.

Beloved, if you fear God, you will not struggle to keep His commandments. At the same time, your love for God compels your obedience to Him and His commandments.

Matthew 22:37 says, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

2. Love for man and the company you keep.

Love for man makes you unable to hurt others.

Mathew 7:12 says, Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Many lives today are upside down because of the bankruptcy of love and the fear of God. When love is present, compassion becomes natural. With love, your actions are guided by consideration for others. Love, therefore, is a major booster of Godly character.

Remember This: Your love for God compels your obedience to Him.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Always choose integrity over convenience.
2. Examine your private life consistently; the habits you tolerate in secret will eventually determine your height and standing in public.

PRAYER: Father, build in me a character that reflects Your Nature, a character that pleases You. Deliver me from pride, compromise and every form of weakness that fights against Godly character, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: MAKING GOD THE CENTRAL FOCUS OF YOUR LIFE.

SCRIPTURE: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.
Acts 17:28

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are dedicated to God, your entire life revolves around Him.
As children of God, our lives are designed and created to revolve around God and His Kingdom. We are to live with God as the central focus of our lives and endeavours.

Making God the central focus of your life entails a life that revolves around God. It simply means a life whose most important priority is God. When you are dedicated to God, your entire life revolves around Him. No one can claim to truly know you and not know your relationship with your God.

That means when you have a job opportunity, your first consideration is not “How much is the salary?”, but “How does this job affect my faith or my relationship with God?
You should be able to ask yourself, “How much of my life is this job consuming away from my relationship with God? When your whole life is centred around God like that, God will ensure that He gives you openings that will make you serve Him well and probably with a higher salary than the other one that will not give you time to serve Him.

During my undergraduate days in the medical school, I couldn't go to certain places to read, because it would destroy my prayer time in the morning before class.

My course mates suggested we go study at a certain place, and return early in the morning to quickly bathe, and head to lectures, but it was not easy for me, so I couldn’t join them.

Please, no student should copy me because most of the time I read in my room. I know it will be hard for some people to study when there is a bed nearby, so don’t try it. You should do what works for you.
I could sit, and the bed would be on its own for the next 7 to 10 hours. And when I had read to the extent I wanted, I could disengage and break out in tonguing, in worship or anything I wanted and then return. Everything, including the reading, still revolved around my relationship with God.

Beloved, it is an abomination for you to call yourself a Christian and no one is aware – your boss is not aware, classmates are not aware, colleagues in the office are not aware. Your dedication to God if authentic, is an identity that you can never hide.

REMEMBER THIS: When you are dedicated to God, your entire life revolves around Him.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1.​Ensure that everything you do in life revolves around God
2.​Take a firm stand and let it be known to those who see you that you are a child of God.

PRAYER: Father, I am immensely blessed by Your Word to me today. I ask that You help me to live a life that revolves around You and Your Kingdom, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FAITH

SCRIPTURE: By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Hebrews 11:7

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Accepting Responsibilities are the secret of the possibilities of faith.

Faith is a journey of responsibility. Living a life of faith requires the acceptance of certain responsibilities. That is why any faith that places all the responsibilities for human possibilities on God is an irresponsible faith.
Faith is not about adjusting to the systems around you; it is acting with God in mind. It is operating with the consciousness that God is real and dependable, irrespective of what is happening around you.

From our anchor Scripture, Noah heard from God, and that hearing was the revelation. He then moved, and that move or action was the responsibility.
So, in the journey of faith, there is always something to do. It is not enough to hear or read; faith must progress into action. Accepting responsibility is the secret of the possibilities of faith. In other words, faith is seeing what God can do from His word, then taking the responsibility required for that possibility.

When faith lacks responsibility, it becomes wishful possibility thinking. That is not different from mere motivational talk that says, “All things are possible” or “Things can work.” Such thinking may have some value, because thoughts can influence results, but faith goes beyond thought. If the only thing your faith makes you do is sit down, wait, and do nothing, you are wasting your life.

That is why people can wish for things for years and never see them happen. Faith does not stop at wishing; it responds, it moves, obeys, prepares, and acts. Faith is what God uses to bring visible substance or materiality out of our invisible hope or expectation.
In the journey of faith, there is aggressiveness of action, there are moves to make and steps to take. That is the responsibility of faith, the responsibility that brings possibility.
We are not in the Glory Dome by chance. We didn't wish things to happen by chance; very aggressive and intense action brought forth the results that we see today, all to the glory of God.
In the journey of faith, the action of man is what provokes the reaction of God. It will provoke the response of God. That is where we see the results of faith.

Beloved, faith without responsibility becomes empty possibility thinking. It is what you do that God will use to produce the results you see in your life.

REMEMBER THIS: Accepting Responsibility is the secret of the possibilities of faith.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Build your confidence in God through His Word.
2. Refuse passive expectation—take necessary actions on what you believe.
3. Identify one step of responsibility regarding your expectation and faith and act on it today.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for showing me the practicality of faith. I receive the grace to walk in the reality of faith and to act on every revelation, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
