🌿 LENTEN SEASON – DAY 01
Repentance by Fasting and Abstention
📖 Luke 15:11–End
Lent is a sacred season of reflection, humility, and return to God. As we begin Day 01, we are reminded of the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11–end — a powerful picture of repentance and the Father’s unconditional love.
Repentance is more than saying “I’m sorry.” It is a conscious decision to turn away from sin and return to God with sincerity. The prodigal son did not remain in guilt; he arose and went back to his father. True repentance requires action.
Fasting helps us discipline the flesh and focus on the Spirit.
Abstention teaches us self-control and separation from habits, pleasures, and distractions that weaken our spiritual sensitivity.
When we fast, we humble ourselves.
When we abstain, we create space for God.
When we repent, heaven rejoices.
This season calls us to:
Examine our hearts.
Let go of sinful habits.
Rebuild our prayer life.
Restore broken fellowship with God.
No matter how far we have gone, the Father is waiting with open arms. Just like the prodigal son, when we arise and return, we will meet mercy, not condemnation.
May this Day 01 mark the beginning of genuine transformation in our lives.
🙏🏽 Prayer:
Father Lord, as we begin this Lenten journey, grant us the grace to truly repent. Help us to discipline our bodies through fasting and abstention, and draw us closer to You. Restore us and renew our spirits in Jesus’ name. Amen.
