Topic:- Desire Fruits More than Gift.

Text:- 1 Corinthians 13:1 "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal."

The above verse makes it abundantly clear that we should first pursue the fruit of the spirit before pursuing the gift.

We know that speaking in unknowing tongue is one of the gifts of the spirit while Charity (love) is one of the fruits of the spirit. But, Paul said in his epistle to the Corinthians that they should not celebrate gift over fruit. In other words, we should not be unmindful of the fruit of the spirit because that is the character of God.

One thing that was so clear about the Corinthians Church is that they were such a gifted Church and Paul even attested to the fact that they didn't lack behind in any spiritual gift. 1 Cor. 1:7 "Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed."

But yet, he said even though anyone can speak with the tongue of angels and lack charity, he/she will just be like a mere noise maker. If you can manifest all the gifts and can't manifest fruit, you may be seen by God as unprofitable servant.

Many today only covets and desires the gift of the spirit but only few desires the most essential which is the fruit of the spirit.

It is instructive for us to know that the Holy Spirit does not only give gift, He also produces fruit in those who can yield themselves to Him.

👉Why do you need the fruit of the Spirit?

✅It is the fruit of the spirit that sustains the gift of the Spirit.

✅It is the fruit that will nurture the gift and make it effective.

✅It is the fruit of the spirit that enhances the maturity of the carrier of the gift.

✅It is the fruit that put value on your gift before God and man.

✅It is by the fruit of the spirit that preserves both the gift and the carrier of the gift.
For instance, Samson had the gift but He lacked the fruit to sustain and maintain it. Hence, both him and his gift were short lived. Prov. 2:11 "Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:"

✅Gift prepares you to meet the need of men, but fruit of the Spirit prepares you for eternity.

In the Word of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, He never failed to teach the people how important it is to bear good fruit. Matt. 7:16 "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"

Many people want to be known by their gift but Jesus said, it is by fruit that a tree is identified and so also is man. That's why they call every tree by it's fruit; Mango tree, Banana tree, Cashew Tree, orange tree etc. That's how trees are known.

Therefore, where there is no good fruit and the carrier of a gift are known with bad fruit (characters), the gift will in no time lose its value.

Beloved, there are many gifted people today in every where with no character of God in them as revealed in (Galatians 5:22-23.)

It is time to begin to earnestly trust God to help us manifest both the fruit and the gift so that we can live a profitable Christian life.

May the Lord give us understanding!

Lord Jesus, let my life begin to produce the fruit of the spirit and also manifest the gifts for the fulfilment of your assignment for me on this earth in Jesus name.

LIVINGWORD DAILY DEVOTIONAL- 24/08/2026

Topic:- Let Christ Dwell in You By Faith

Text:- Eph. 3:17 "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,"

Beyond measure it is desirable that we, as believers, should have the person of Jesus constantly before us, to inflame our love towards him, and to increase our knowledge of him.

One of the earnest prayers of Paul for the Ephesians Church was that Christ may dwell in them by faith.

This is the only way we will be rooted and be grounded in the love of God.

Beloved, to have Jesus ever near, the heart must be full of him, welling up with his love, even to overrunning and overflowing.

That is why Paul prayed "that Christ may dwell in their hearts.

Beloved let Him occupy every space in your heart. This will shapen your thoughts and transform all your inward parts to the glory and honour of His name.

You cannot get a subject closer to you than to have it in the heart itself. "That He may dwell;" not that he may call upon you sometimes, as a casual visitor enters into a house and tarries for a night, but that he may dwell; that Jesus may become the Landlord and not just a tenant of your inner most being, He's there and never anymore to go out! Hallelujah!

Note that if He doesn't dwell in your heart by faith, other things will definitely dwell there because nature abhors vacuum.

Hence, the earlier you open up to Jesus, the better for you. Because the devil is always looking for vacancy. Matt. 12:43 "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation."

Those who shut Jesus out undoubtedly have the devil logging constantly in their hearts. That is why their imaginations are evil continually as the scripture says in Gen. 6:5
"And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

In conclusion, Beloved, give no place to the devil, but rather give it all to Christ because, this will be more profitable for you both in this life and in the life to come.

May the Lord give you understanding!

Topic:- Beware of Idolatry (Part 3)

Text:- Exo. 20:3-4 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:"

There are many things that people worship today that they can't really tell what they are and why exactly they are worshipping them.

That's why Jesus said they worship what they don't know. John 4:22 "You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

Brethren, never be so confused or ignorant to the level where you started to worship a creature rather than your Creator.

👉What you shouldn't worship even in the Church:

✅Do not worship any statue built to represent Jesus Christ.

✅Do not worship any image built to represent any of the Apostles of old.

✅Do not join them to worship any image purporting to be representing Holy Mary.

✅Do not worship any image built to represent angel.....On no reasons should you worship angels because they are not God but creatures of God. John attempted to worship an angel who showed him all the revelations he saw, but the angel forbade him from doing so. The angel never saw himself as being deserving of the worship.

Rev. 22:8-9 "And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

✅Do not worship your Pastor. You may honour the grace of God upon them but they're not to be worshipped. Don't come to Church because of what Pastor will say but come because you love God and He deserves your worship.

In conclusion, Beloved, learn to worship God in truth and in spirit because He is a spirit and not what human's hands formed or made.

May the Lord got us understanding!

Prayers 🙏

Heavenly Father, you are my God and only you deserves my worship. Therefore, I refuse to stray away from you to any other strange gods in Jesus name.

Topic:- Beware of Idolatry (Part 2)

Text:- Exo. 20:3-4 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:"

This is a commandment that every human being created by God ought to seriously adhered to.

God had on several occasions introduced Himself as a jealous God. He can't afford to create you for another inanimate object.

In other words, God created us for Himself, for His pleasure and for His glory. Isaiah 43:7 "Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him."

He said everyone and not some people. So, no one was created to glorify or worship iron, woods or stones.

Beloved nothing triggers the wrath of God like this perversion in worship. That is why He introduced Himself to the Children of Israel as a jealous God.

Exo. 34:14 "For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:"

Another name that God called Himself is Jealous! Meaning that He loves us so much that He couldn't take His eyes away from us for a second. He's jealous over us like a man jealous over his wife.

That is why He gave a strict warning that we should not bow down to them.

Exo. 20:5 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"

And it doesn't matter where you are bowing down to it, you are doing what God passionately frown at.

It may be inside the Church or Temple, office, palace or Government house...that does not make it holy.

Remember how Jeremiah took Rechabites to the house of the Lord to give them wine to drink but they refused and said God forbid. (Jeremiah 35)

They refused to drink what they forbade in their families notwithstanding that it was actually organized in the Temple. They said No to Jeremiah!

Beloved, Idolatry is idolatry anywhere! So, run from it.

If you partake in their sins, just know that you will also partake in their punishment.

May the Lord give us understanding!

Text:- Exo. 20:3-4 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:"

Many are worshipping idols today and are thinking that they are worshipping God.

Beloved, not everybody can discern between idols and the true living God.

This is nothing but due to the ignorance of many, they are made to believe that anywhere they call Church is truly a place where God is being worshipped.

Worse still, they will not question anything that they see going on there. When the say bow, they will bow. If they are told to eat or drink something, they will oblige without any hesitation.

It's really baffling to still see how gullible many people are in this day and time of knowledge and awareness.

Just as Aaron set up an image before the people of God and said, this is the God that brought you out of Egypt and people ignorantly began to bow to the gods in worship. That's how some are still doing today!

Exo. 32:4 "And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD."

This would have brought severe anger of God upon them were it not for the intercession of Moses the Servant of God.

Why should they forget so soon the God who brought them out of Egypt? Were they shown any image or similitude of any diety when Moses brought them out of Egypt? The answer is no! Why should they suddenly believe in this lie?

And God had earlier warned them because He knew what they will later do, yet they still deviated.

Exo. 20:2-3 "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bo***ge. Thou shalt have no other gods before me"

Beloved nobody has seen God and no one can design any image to represent Him.

Therefore, don't let anyone deceive you.

Don't bow down for any image on the cross. Jesus is not on the cross. He is on the throne in heaven over two thousands years ago.

And note that Mary statue is another idol and not to be worshipped or bow down to.

There is no place in the bible where Mary was asked to be followed or worshipped.

Only Jesus deserves our followership and total commitment. (John 14:6)

Brethren, beware of idolatry!

Topic:- Never Trust in Your Horses

Text:- Psalm 20:7-8 "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright."

Trusting in God gives you an enduring strength to stand where others falls. This is because only God has everlasting strength.

Isaiah 26:4 "Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:"

Every other strength are temporary and inadequate. But God's strength is more than sufficient and is everlasting! Hallelujah!

A trust in God makes you strong where others are weak.

It makes you stand tall where others are falling.

That was the reason why David was strong when he was faced with Goliath. All the Army of Israel were weak and fearful at the sight of the Philistines, but David was fearless.

When David came to the scene, he allayed their fears and restored confidence back to them in the name of the Lord.

1Sam. 17:32 "And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine."

The following are the characteristics of those who trust in God:

1. Those who put their trust in God are always fearless and can't succumb to any intimidation of men.

2. A man that trust in God is always confident of what his God can do at all times.

3. When your trust is in God, you will depend on His name for your victory.

Our above text reveals what some put their trust on; chariots and horses, but David said we will remember the name of our God.

These means anything or name you put your trust in other than God will fail.

Let your trust in God remain strong and firm and He will never let you down.

Declaration 🙏

Heavenly Father, i put my trust in you, help me to fight all my battles and never allow me to be ashamed in Jesus name.
