THE RENEWED FAMILY

The family is the most important single factor in the molding of human beings. It can either make or mar him/her. The first institution God founded was the family which takes its roots from marriage. This is the '"factory" where human beings are prepared to enter the society. This makes it very important (11Tim. 1:5).

The family, in our modern day, is under serious siege spiritually, morally and socially. All odds are against the family system as seen from the lifestyles being projected and bandied all around on the streets, in the media, political campaigns and conferences. Worst of it is that, the evil of tearing down the traditional and biblical family values has crept into the church from the back doors. Even in the church and Christendom, families are bleeding as marital and family relationships are being severed sorely because of negligence of biblical injunctions.

The essence of our focus on RENEWED FAMILY in this year’s Family Week is the need to call all and sundry to the need to go back to the original intent of God for the family. It is a call to reawaken love, forgiveness, commitment, sacrifice and kingdom values in the family.

The renewed family is the family where godly and traditional family values are revived, avoiding being stuck in the pervading confusion in the society today. The evils of divorce, adultery, pre-marital s*x, homos*xuality and all the damnable practices are being glorified today with many confusing voices. For us, as believers, we are not confused because we have our guide-book, the Bible and the Holy Spirit to guide and guard us in our family relationships and decisions.

A Christian family which is renewed is where we find these attributes:
- Parents are bound together by Christian Love.
- Children are welcome and scripturally instructed
- The Lord Jesus Christ is the head
- Parents and children gather daily for family worship (Gen. 18:19, Job 1:1-5).
- There are God-fearing father, God-fearing mother and God-fearing children.

It becomes very pertinent for us as believers to uphold biblical and godly values as the Christian family is a microcosm of the church and the kingdom. The family should reflect the glory, beauty and nature of God. Anything short of that is an aberration and disease that needs to be healed. That is the reason for the call for renewal. Every believer should strive and fight off the devil, whose major preoccupation is to derail and destroy all that is good, godly and profitable. We must take responsibilities over the welfare and overall wellbeing of our family, understanding it as divine assignment.

My prayer is that our families will reflect the glory of God and fulfill their God-ordained destinies in Jesus name.

Text: Genesis 35:1-7

Renewal spiritually and all-round. Renewal here means to restore freshness, refill, repair what is broken, make new again, revive, go back to the original.

God reminds Jacob of his vow at Bethel (V.1) – Gen. 28:22. Jacob had said in the day of his distress, “If I come again in peace, this stone shall be God's house” (Gen. 28:22).

Seven to eight years after he got to Canaan he still forgot Beth-el. He did not respond to the affliction of Genesis 34, God had to command “Arise, go to Beth-el”, the place of covenant commitment.

Where are you missing out on God in your family? Children, Wife, Husband? Are you still keeping the marriage covenant and godly responsibilities?

Malachi 2:13-16: “Again” – first was polluted sacrifice and secondly covering the altar of the Lord with tears of maltreated wives. The tears of your spouse is reaching God while you are still there forming spirituality.

Mal. 2:16: “covereth violence with ... garment” – excuses for your violence and maltreatment
V.15 – God wants you to raise godly seeds through your marriage. How far are you doing that?
Gen. 35:7: El-Bethel – God of Bethel. Can your children call on “the God of my father and mother”?

Family Renewal Prayer for August

- Lord, show my family mercy
- Rain of spiritual, financial, love, peace, and joy revival fall upon my family
- Lord, give my family divine visitation
- Destroy satanic agenda against my family (John 10:10)
- I uproot strange gods and spiritual strangers in the family
- Strange objects or spirit brought into the family directly or indirectly by any member, be rooted out by fire
- I destroy strange operations and manifestations in my family
- I declare good news in my family this month
- My family shall know the Lord from the eldest to the youngest
- Keep my family in your presence oh Lord (Ho 14:7)
- I call forth my family allocation for the month and year to come forth from secret places (11Kings 25:27-30)

‎One of the greatest problems of the present church and generation is quest for the act, for miracles and wonders.

‎God said don't be deceived, because under which power and authority are these people who do a lot of miracles are from, is it from God or the devil?

‎In this act and miracle you are seeing,is God there? 1kings 19:913

‎As a child of God, don't be moved by signs, neither miracles, don't run after it, many fake prophets are wandering around and causing misunderstandings in people's life.
‎
‎God's signs and wonders follow you, u don't run after them, it will come to you.
‎
‎How do I find my way walking around ways and not acts?
‎
‎1. Jeremiah 6:16, exodus 33:11-17; SEARCH FOR THE OLD WAYS; which level do you know God Eph 3?how do you speak and communicate with God?
‎If you want to follow God wholeheartedly, you have to look for one thing, which is knowing and walking with him.
‎
‎2. IT IS A NARROW WAY; matt 7:13-14
‎The road is narrow, it can only take a person not two,
‎Two things u can never know is the day u were born and the day you'll die, same as the first bathe you'll had as an infant, and the last you'll have when death comes, that's life.
