LET'S PRAY THE HOLY ROSARY - The Glorious Mysteries.
MAKE THE SIGN OF THE CROSS: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
THE APOSTLE'S CREED: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He arose again; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen
Say One Our Father...
Say three Hail Marys... (for the increase of Faith, Hope and Love)
Say One Glory Be....
1. FIRST GLORIOUS MYSTERY β THE RESSURECTION: JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD
***From the Gospel According to Matthew (Mt28:1-7)
After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back to the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like the lightning, and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men.
Then the angel said to the women in reply, βDo not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, βHe has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Behold, I have told you.β
REFLECTION:
Easter is a celebration of life. Easter is the revelation of life as it is itself. It is indestructible. Jesus went through death to enter the fullness of life. It is the same with every life. No matter how destroyed it may be, life is invincible. Suffering and death are not the end. Suffering does not have the last word. Life wins. Jesus said it in His own words and showed it with His resurrection. When eastern are depicts the resurrection, it shows Jesus after death ascending into Hell, taking Adam and Eve by hand and pulling them out of the so-called pre-hell. Adam and Eve represent every human being. They are an image of you and me. With Jesus we can always enter the resurrection. No matter how much we suffer and how evil seems to be strong, no matter what darkness hangs over live and how low it seems to us that we have fallen, Jesus enters that pre-hell of ours and bring us back to life. Resurrection is always possible.
PRAYERS: Say one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father. Recite the Fatima Prayer "O my Jesus.
2. SECOND GLORIOUS MYSTERY β THE ASCENSION: JESUS ASCENDS TO HEAVEN
***From the Gospel According to Luke (LK 24:36-51)***
While there were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, βPeace be with you.β But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, βWhy are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I. Touch me and see, because ghost does have not flesh and bones as you can see I have.
And He said this; HE showed them His hands and feet. Whiel they were sill incredoulous for joy and were amazed, He asked them, βHave you anything here to eat?β They gave Him a piece of baked fish; he took it and ate it in front of them.
He said to them, βThese are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled. Then He opened their minds to understand the scriptures. And he said to them, βThus it written that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witness of these things. And behold, I am sending you the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with the power from on High.
Then He led them [out] as far as Bethany, raised His hands and blessed them. As HE blessed them, he parted form them and was taken up to Heaven.
REFLECTION
After the resurrection, Jesus with His glorified body lived with the disciples, dined with them and talked with them on different occasions. After that, he was taken u to heaven bodily. To the same heaven that opened above Him at the moment of baptism. He entered heaven with his body, where His Father also dwells, the Father who, at the moment of Jesusβ baptism, announced that Jesus is His beloved Son, with whom he is well pleased. A part of our life also entered heaven with Jesus. Not only part of our spiritual, inner, emotional life, but also the physical part of our humanity was taken to heaven. Jesus took all our faults upon Himself and died to redeem us from them. This is the βhappy faultβ that the Easter proclamation sings about, the fault that earned so great, so glorious a Redeemer! When doubts about your own justification before God begin to tear you a part and you begin to blame yourself, remember that Jesus opened your access to heaven, that he prepared a place for you above and that part of your humanity is already with Him in glory.
PRAYERS: Say one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father. Recite the Fatima Prayer "O my Jesus...
3. THIRD GLORIOUS MYSTERY β THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES DOWN UPON THE APOSTLES
***From the Acts of the Apostles (Acts β 2:1-4)***
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in on place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
REFLECTION
The Holy Spirit was given to us to work in us. And where does He work and when does HE manifest Himself? Most often, He does so where our borders are. When we cannot go on with our own strength, then the Holy Spirit empowers us to go on. When we do not know what to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with us. When we are paralysed by our fear, the Holy Spirit awakens His strength in us. When our human calculation tells us that we have no reason to love someone, then the Holy Spirit ignites Divine Love in us and suddenly we can love even our enemies. When, due to various circumstances, restlessness increases in us, the Holy Spirit can transform that restlessness and bringing us into a peace that is beyond all reason and that no one can take away from us. When we are faced with anxiety and sorrow, the Holy spirit has the power to bring us complete joy. Mary experienced this so many times in her life. May she also lead you into experience of the Holy Spirit. Revie it with your faith and prayer.
PRAYERS: Say one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father. Recite the Fatima Prayer "O my Jesus.
4. FOURTH GLORIOUS MYSTERY β THE ASSUMPTION: MARY IS TAKEN UP INTO HEAVEN
***From the Gospel According to Luke (Lk 1:46-51)
And Mary said, βMy soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my saviour. For HE has looked upon His handmaidβs lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things on me, and holy is His name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fears Him. He has shown might with His arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart
REFLECTION
Jesusβ promise was fulfilled in Mary, and it will be fulfilled in each of us. Jesus said, βWhere I am, there also will my servant beβ. Where Jesus, her Son is, Mary is there too. Her home is in heaven. She was assumed into that home with her body and soul. Can we say that Mary was a handmaid of Jesus? Yes, we can. This is exactly how Mary perceived herself. At the moment of Jesusβ conception, she acknowledged herself as handmaid of the Lord. She served the Good News, she served the Kingdon of God, she served her Son and His church. What she did while on earth, Mary continues to do in heaven. As our mother, she continues to intercede for us in heaven and watches over our steps with her motherly heart as we pass through this valley of tears. She is heaven, but not far from us. She is in heaven and she is close to all our needs. She is in heaven, but her motherly heartbeat in each of us.
PRAYERS: Say one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father. Recite the Fatima Prayer "O my Jesus.
5.FIFTH GLORIOUS MYSTERY β THE CORONATION OF MARY AS QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH
***From the Book of Revelation (Revelation 12:1)***
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
REFLECTION
The Gospel tells us that Jesusβ miracle in Cana, in which Mary had an important role, was Jesusβ first sign. When John wrote the book of Revelation and explained his mystical vision, he repeated the same words: Mary is the great sign that appeared in the sky of mankind. She was and remains a sign to the church and to all humanity. She is a sign for you too. Her glorification in heaven will also tell you something about your glorification, about your rewards for the kindness you have done and are still doing. Sometimes it ay seems to you that no one sees or appreciates your kindness. You are tempted to stop being kind because you do not want someone to take advantage of you. You are tempted when you want to gain all the rewards and all the thanks already here on earth. When you are overcome by that temptation, it is a sign that you have not yet believed that there is a great reward waiting for you in heaven. Here on earth, you are just a useless servant no matter what you do. You too like Mary will receive your reward in heaven. Isnβt that the reason for your joy?
PRAYERS: Say one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father. Recite the Fatima Prayer "O my Jesus.
