🧿TOPIC: THE EAR GATE🧿

📒MEMORY VERSE: "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left". – Isaiah 30:21📖

📓BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 13:13–17📕

[13] Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

[14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

[15] For this people's heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest at any time they should see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And should understand with their heart, And should be converted, and I should heal them.

[16] But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

[17] For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

The ear is a sensory/sensitive organ of the human body with two main functions: hearing and balance. It is mainly concerned with detecting, transmitting and transducing sound while the semi-circular canals and vestibule of the inner ear work together to keep the body balanced. The ear is one of the means we receive information from the world around us. A gate is any means of access. The ear gate is thus a censor to be used to select what we allow into our soul and what we do with the information received; to run with or discard it.

1. “DULL EARS”
2. “OBEDIENT EARS”

"DULL EARS"

Hebrews 5:11 discloses that some people have dull ears. These people lack interest in yielding to divine instructions and have difficulty in running with God's command because their heart is not cultivated (*Matthew 13:15*). They exhibit a lack of understanding about the things of Christ and are not excited to take heed to the voice of the living God (*Matthew 19:16–22*).

Other traits displayed by people who are dull of hearing include:
1. *Rebellion:* They willingly revolt against divine instructions (*Ezekiel 12:2*).
2. *Refusal to hearken:* They do not listen attentively so they find it difficult to comprehend and follow directions (*Zechariah 7:8–11*).
3. *Immaturity:* They are undeveloped and cannot handle hard and sound teachings (*Hebrews 5:11–12*).
4. *They prefer to listen to fables* instead of the truth of God’s word (*2 Timothy 4:4*). They love to hear teachers who will tell them what they want (*2 Timothy 4:3*).
5. *Their ears are not “circumcised”* – not refined – so they hear slowly (*Acts 7:51; Acts 28:27*).

"OBEDIENT EARS"

A major trait of people with obedient ears is that they completely obey the undiluted word of God without holding anything back (*Exodus 24:7*) and believe in divine doings (*Psalm 44:1*). They take to corrections (*Proverbs 25:12*) and their obedience helps them to eat the good of the land as stated in *Isaiah 1:19*.

Furthermore, they hold tenaciously to the truth of God’s word and run away from the lusts in the world (*Joshua 24:24-25; 1 Peter 1:14*). They are not hypocrites (*Ephesians 6:5-6*). They take delight in doing the will of God (*Psalm 40:8*). They are quick to hear (*James 1:19*). They cleave to God (*Deuteronomy 13:4*) and they are His people (*Psalm 100:3*).

It is a blessing to obey God’s commandments (*Deuteronomy 11:26-27*). Jesus also comes into the lives of those who hear His voice (*John 10:27*) and gives the Holy Ghost to those who obey Him (*Acts 5:32*).

Although the reception of information is voluntary and within our power to choose, we must intentionally give heed to godly instructions to prosper and record success in life.

🧿TOPIC: MY ENEMY: "SATAN"🧿

📖MEMORY VERSE: "Therefore rejoice, ye heavens and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time". – Revelation 12:12📔

📓BIBLE PASSAGE: Isaiah 14:12–17📘

[12] How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

[13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

[15] Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

[16] They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

[17] that made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

The “world” is a battleground and the Christian life is a warfare. As Christians, we have a terrible enemy — Satan; who wants to destroy us (John 10:10a). Paul called on Christians to be “good soldiers” of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:3) and to war a good warfare (1 Timothy 1:18). Satan and his fallen angels are spirit-beings we cannot see, but they are real enemies of every child of God (Ephesians 6:11–12). We need to study the enemy’s tactics to understand how to resist him.

1. Satan’s Strategy
2. How to Resist

Satan’s terrible mission against man is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a). He knows that he has been defeated and eternally condemned to the lake of fire, but he wants to take as many people as possible with him (Revelation 20:7–10; 2 Peter 2:4). He does this by using:

1. Lies: Satan is called a liar and the father of all lies (John 8:44) who always attempts to counterfeit God’s principles and instructions through deception (Genesis 3:4–5; 13; Revelation 20:10).

2. Fear: He uses fear to keep people in bo***ge and make them stagnant (1 Peter 5:8).

3. Confusion: e.g., false doctrines (1 Timothy 4:1–3).

4. Temptation and accusation: He tempts us to act on addictive urges and to yield to lust, impulses, selfishness and greed (Luke 4:13; 1 Thessalonians 3:5). He further accuses and condemns us for failing (Revelation 12:10).

5. Contention: The devil understands that disagreement is a potent weapon to subdue the limitless power in unity (1 Corinthians 11:18; Acts 15:39).

6. Discouragement/depression. Satan effectively uses this tool on believers (1 Kings 19:4).

7. Affliction. Satan afflicts people with sickness to hinder their efficiency (Job 2:7). He also afflicts when he gains access to a man’s life through unconfessed sin (Psalm 107:17).

When you are tempted, submit yourself to God and command the devil to leave (James 4:7). Use the scriptures to subdue him (Matthew 4:4–11) and locate the way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). When Satan lies to you, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth and search the scriptures (John 8:32; 5:39a). When there is contention and conflict that can degenerate into disunity, seek to make peace immediately without delay (Hebrews 12:14; Romans 12:18).

To overcome the strategy of discouragement/depression, engage yourself in serving others; work hard and avoid idleness, listen to godly music, recount your blessings and encourage yourself in the place of prayer (Ephesians 5:19; 1 Samuel 30:6). If you are sick, request for prayer from Elders in the Church or mature believers and exercise your faith in God’s ability to heal (James 5:14–15).

The word of God is a powerful tool given to believers to overcome Satan.

🧿TOPIC:- CANCEROUS CELL PART 2🧿

📖Memory Verse: "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." 1 Corinthians 10:12📕

📓Bible Text: 1 kings 13:7-19📘
7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

9 For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.

11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,

14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:

17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

CAUSES OF CANCEROUS CELL

In our last week's lesson, cancerous cell was defined as a cell that alters genetic system. Believers are known for life of holiness, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:15, 16, in this outline we want to examine causes of cancerous cell;

1. Heretical teachings: teachings of one's own view, incompatible with the gospel of Christ. It is a teaching that departs from accepted beliefs or divine standard.

2. Social Media: Some information on social media unverified contents unverified, polluted and inimical to lives. It causes distraction, loss of productivity, promotes social isolation, exposure to ungodly contents, picking of polluted information.

3. Peer Pressure: This brings influence by others to act in a certain way and this come because of desire to be accepted by their peer.

4. Bad Mentorship: Poor communication and lack of experience from the side of mentor can be cancerous.

5. Unguarded Freedom especially from Parents: When freedom is not guarded, the person is vulnerable to attack, lacking protection possessed.

e. Lifting up the hands of others by supporting them financially materially, e.t.c

But there is one thing that is needful which is SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT IS Developing one's Spirit means

1. Becoming spiritually conscious and be rooted in Christ

🧿TOPIC: VAIN WORSHIP🧿

📖MEMORY VERSE: "Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men."
Isaiah 29:13.📙

📓BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 15:7-9.📘
[7]Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
[8]‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.
[9]And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

: The word "vain" means empty or without value. "Worship" is reverence and adora-tion directed towards God, be it the lifting of hands, spoken words, or sung songs. Worship should not be a mere ritual, but an expression of love, and submission to God even in the time of adversity (Job 1:20-21). Unlike common beliefs, it neither begins nor ends with the singing quota of our Christian gatherings. Vain worship is unac-ceptable before God and it is an attitude abhorred by Him. This lesson uncovers vain worship and highlights the biblical direction for true worship.

1. POINTERS AND CONCERNS
2. A CALL TO TRUE WORSHIP

Certain human manifestations point to vain worship.
Vain worshippers place importance on being seen outwardly by all as reverencing God (Luke 18:10-12). It is only about superficial worshin such as honouring God with lips or maintaining "holier-than-thou" appearance with neither con-nection of the heart nor inner transformation (Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 23:27-28). It is saying the right things but not truly engaging with God (Matthew 15:8). It is being legalistic i.e. following human traditions and prioritising rituals and man-made commandments to take precedence over true devotion to God (Mark 7:6-9).

One concern for those who promote vain worship is that they cannot continue in deception forever (Galatians 6:7-8). God rejects worship that does not come from the heart (Amos 5:21-23, Matthew 7:21-23). Focusing on traditions rather than personal faith weakens the relationship with God (Galatians 1:14). Vain worshippers are also, often led into misguided religion, in which they risk replacing godliness with human practices (Colossians 2:8).

God has called us to authentic worship which be-gins with true repentance and renewal of mind (Acts 3:19). True worship does not start or end in church but is evident in every aspect of life (John 4:21-23). It is, therefore, a lifestyle that must be lived daily (Romans 12:1). Our Lord, Jesus Christ explains that it must be done "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24).

True worship comes from the heart and is based on God's truth (Philippians 3:3). It aligns with the will of God and is evidenced by love, obedien and reverence (1 Samuel 15:22; 2 Samuel 23:1 16). It always exercises genuine faith, devotion, and a commitment to God's word (Psalm 119:37-38). We must submit to the leading of God, this gives Him pleasure and no true worship can be better than that (Romans 8:14).

: Desist from ritualistic and fruitless worship; God can only be worshipped acceptably in spirit and in truth.

1. Define vain worship.
2. Mention four ways to be involved in vain worship.

:
: Mark 7:7.
: Matthew 15:8.
: Isaiah 29:13.

: Micah 6:6-8.

📖MEMORY VERSE: "And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him." Matthew 26:16📕

📓BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 26:46-50📘

[46]Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
[47]And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
[48]Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
[49]And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
[50]And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

: The word betray means to expose a person to danger treacherously giving information to an enemy. 🧿TOPIC: REPAIRING THE ALTAR🧿

📖MEMORY VERSE: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me". – Psalm 51:10

📓BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 18:30–32📘

[30] And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

[31] And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

[32] and with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

A physical altar is a raised platform in a place of worship where offerings are made to honour God. Altars have always played a significant role in God’s relationship with His people across generations: Noah (Genesis 8:20), Abraham (Genesis 22:9), Jacob (Genesis 35:7), and Moses (Exodus 17:15), all built altars as points of connection with God. Similarly, there is a spiritual altar within our hearts that must be prepared and maintained to experience God’s presence and achieve all-round victory. When our relationship with God falters, every aspect of our life is affected.

1. ALTAR DESTROYERS
2. THE ACT OF MENDING

When we neglect God’s altar, we inevitably build other altars, devoting our time, talents, treasures, energies, efforts, earnings, etc. to such (1 Kings 18:18–21). Actions that damage our relationship with God include:

1. Sin (Isaiah 59:2).
2. Idolatry – placing anything or anyone above God (Ezekiel 14:5).
3. Seeking benefits instead of seeking God (John 6:26).
4. A divided heart, trying to serve both God and at the same time conforming to worldly patterns (Matthew 6:24; Romans 12:2).
5. Negative influences (1 Corinthians 15:33).
6. People-pleasing, prioritising the approval of others over God’s (Galatians 1:10).
7. Pride, which distances us from His grace (Psalm 138:6).
8. Unbelief that leads to spiritual drift (Hebrews 3:12).
9. Disobedience to God’s commands (1 Samuel 12:15).
10. Lukewarmness is a half-hearted approach to faith (Revelation 3:16).

Neglecting God shifts our devotion away from Him, creating barriers to the deep relationship He desires with us.

To repair is to restore what is damaged to good condition. Repairing the altar symbolises restoring one’s relationship with God. A broken connection with Him can be rebuilt when we:

a. Repent and return to our “first love” (Revelation 2:4–5; Jeremiah 2:2📚): Repentance involves changing our actions and reigniting the early devotion we once had, such as praying, Bible study and sharing our faith. In these Last Days, as love grows cold (Matthew 24:12📙), rebuilding our altar starts with returning to these foundational practices.

b. Offer ourselves as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1📗): True surrender involves giving our body and soul to God’s will, living in complete submission to His purpose.

c. Rededicate ourselves to God (Titus 3:5📙): Rededication is transformative. It is a return to God’s loving embrace, celebrating His grace, and committing to live according to His word.

d. Seek restoration, forgiveness, and healing through humility and obedience: His mercy and unfailing love make complete restoration possible (2 Chronicles 7:14📔).

e. Surrender fully to God (James 4:7📘): Acknowledge God’s sovereignty and trust His plans (Psalm 135:6; Isaiah 55:8–9📕). Absolute surrender is to let go of our ways and embrace His ways.

Restoring our relationship with God is a journey of humility, love, and complete trust in His power and purpose.

1. Mention four conducts that can destroy the altar of God in your heart.
2. Mention ways of repairing the spiritual altar.

🧿TOPIC: SPIRITUAL GIFTS VERSUS FRUIT🧿

📖MEMORY VERSE: "For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth". – Ephesians 5:9📕

📓BIBLE PASSAGE: 1CORINTHIANS 12:4-11📘

[4] Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

[5] And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

[6] And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

[8] For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

[9] to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

[10] to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

[11] but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The distinction between spiritual gifts and the fruit of the Spirit is essential for understanding their roles in a believer’s life. Both come from the Holy Spirit but serve different purposes: one focuses on service and edification, while the other reflects character and spiritual maturity.

1. THE UNDERSTANDING
2. KEY DIFFERENCES

Spiritual gifts are supernatural abilities given by the Holy Spirit to equip believers for ministry, service in the body of Christ and glorify God (1 Corinthians 12:7; 1 Corinthians 14:26📚). Each believer receives at least one gift. These gifts include prophecy, healing, teaching, serving, giving, and leadership, among others (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10📚). The Holy Spirit determines who receives each gift, ensuring the diversity and unity of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:11📙). While gifts are freely given, they require active use, growth, and stewardship through practice, prayer, and learning (1 Timothy 4:14📗).
The fruit of the Spirit represents the character traits and virtues that grow in believers as they walk closely with God (Galatians 5:25📘). It reflects the personality of Christ, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, righteousness and truth (Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:9📒). The fruit is produced through abiding in Christ: a close relationship with Him enables believers to reflect His nature (John 15:4-5📙).
The fruit of the Spirit is a sign of spiritual growth and maturity (2 Peter 3:18📔). A believer’s life is recognised by the presence of these virtues (Matthew 7:16-20📕). Growth in the fruit requires intentionality, including obedience to God’s word, prayer, and avoiding sinful influences (Psalm 1:1-3📖).

Both spiritual gifts and the fruit of the Spirit are essential for a balanced Christian life. However, spiritual gifts empower believers for ministry, while the fruit of the Spirit shapes them into Christ-like individuals. Spiritual gifts focus on abilities for service while the fruit of the Spirit focuses on the character and maturity of the believer. Spiritual gifts are given to each believer uniquely whereas all the key components of the fruit are expected to be evident in every believer. A believer is given spiritual gifts to edify others but the fruit is produced to reflect Christ’s nature. Spiritual gifts are diverse and specific to roles given to each believer. However, the fruit of the Spirit are unified and holistic traits.

Spiritual gifts help the believer to be effective in service while the fruit of the Spirit ensures the believer is rooted in godly character.

🧿TOPIC: PROPHECY🧿

📖MEMORY VERSE: "Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy". – 1Corinthians 14:1📔

📕BIBLE PASSAGE: 1CORINTHIANS 14:1-5📓

1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

[5] I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Prophecy is a spiritual gift and ministry through which God communicates His mind and will to His people. It can come in diverse forms to meet the specific needs of individuals and the church. Prophecy is a vital aspect of Christian living that enables believers to receive guidance, encouragement, and edification.

1. UNDERSTAND PROPHECY
2. THE BENEFITS

Prophecy is the act of speaking God’s words under divine inspiration (Job 32:8📖). It serves as a channel through which God’s truth, plans, and purposes are revealed (Numbers 12:6📒). Prophecy is not rooted in human imagination but in God’s authority and wisdom (1 Corinthians 14:3📘). In Ezekiel 37:1-14📘, the prophet was instructed by God to speak life to dry bones, demonstrating the transformative power of prophecy. Prophecy is inspired by God and directed toward His purposes (2 Peter 1:21📖). Revelation 19:10 📕highlights that “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy,” indicating that prophecy ultimately points to Christ and His will.

Prophecy manifests in different forms, depending on God’s intention for the message. For instance:

Foretelling: Predicting future events as revealed by God. Examples include prophecies about the Messiah and end-time events (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 24📗).

Forthtelling: Comforting a specific audience through the written word of God (Nehemiah 8:8-10📔). Addressing a current situation and proffering solution (2 Kings 4:1-7; 2 Kings 6:25; 7:1📙). Forthtelling can also serve as a correction.

Discernment: Providing insight into hidden truths or circumstances, often to bring clarity (2 Kings 5:20-26; Acts 16:16-19📚).

Believers should note that not all prophecies are from God, which makes it vital to evaluate every prophetic word with Scriptures and godly principles (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21; Deuteronomy 18:20-22📒).

Prophecy serves several key purposes that help to strengthen the church and contribute to its growth:

a. Edification: Prophecy builds up the body of Christ, fostering spiritual growth and unity (1 Corinthians 14:4📖).
