*GET A HOLD OF THE WORD*

_*📖In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made (John 1:1-3).*_

Everything that God does is through the agency of His Word. This is a very fundamental and essential truth to always be conscious of. God’s Word is His creative material. From Genesis 1, we learn that God created everything through His Word. The Bible says, _*“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”*_ (Genesis 1:1). Then, verse 3 says, _*“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”*_

His Word brought order and life to what was a chaotic mass. Then, in John 1:1-3, the Bible declares, _*“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”*_

Everything was made by the Word, and without the Word, nothing exists. This understanding reveals the limitless power of God’s Word. When you get a hold of the Word, you can do anything. Someone might ask, “If this is true, why are there so many in the world who are suffering? Why are so many in pain?”

God’s response to the suffering and pain in the world is Jesus; and who is Jesus? He is the Word. We read that earlier in John 1:1-3. Psalm 107:20 says, _*“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”*_ The Word heals, saves, and delivers. It brings hope, healing, restoration and answers to life’s toughest questions.

If you’ve been sick and given up on by the doctors to die, what you need is to get a hold of the Word in your spirit. In Christ, you have an incorruptible, indestructible, imperishable life that destroys sickness, disease and infirmities. Get a hold of this reality and create your victory. Everything you need is in the Word of God. Therefore, keep affirming the Word.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for the power of your Word, which is creative and transformative. As I meditate on, and declare your Word, I create a life of victory, health, and success. Your Word is at work in me, producing results that glorify you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*RECOGNIZE TRUTH*

_*That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).*_

The recognition and declaration of truth activates its power. Believe truth and declare it. That’s the way to walk consistently in God’s blessings.

Take for instance 1 John 5:13 NIV; it says, _*“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”*_ Many have lived and died, never knowing that they had eternal life. They believed in Jesus all right, but no one ever emphasized to them that eternal life was their present-hour possession. They never recognized that truth; as a result, it wasn’t activated in their lives. That’s why I’m emphasizing it to you today. You’ve got to know it!

Again, Romans 8:10 NIV says, _*“But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.”*_ Believe and affirm this about yourself always. The Spirit of God that you’ve received gives life to your body; therefore, your body is invigorated, quickened by that same Spirit.

When you activate these truths by your affirmation, it makes no difference the kind of sickness that tries to attack your body or the adversities you face; you’ll be impregnable. Glory to God! Jesus taught in Mark 11:23 that you’d have to say it, to have it. Philemon 1:6 highlights your acknowledgment of God’s truths: who you are, and your heritage in Christ as the basis for an effectual life of ever-increasing glory and triumph. It says, _*“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”*_

*CONFESSION*

*The Word of God is working in me, because I’m born of the Word. I’m a victor in Christ Jesus; I have dominion over circumstances; I tame and rule the world through my faith proclamations. I’m forever making progress, fruitful and productive in my walk with God and service in His vineyard. My life is the testimony of God’s grace. Hallelujah!*

_(The Benefits Of Spiritual Exercise)_

*TO THE BIBLE:*
*Matthew 26:40-41*
_“Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, “What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.””_

*LET’S TALK*

Some folks talk about how they tried to pray about an issue but felt so weak that they couldn’t even utter a word. Others describe how they had some terrible attacks while sleeping. They felt some evil force pressing them down and choking them, and they tried to shout *“Jesus!”* but couldn’t move their mouths. For these folks, the human spirit, even during sleep, recognised what was going on but was unable to get the body to cooperate. If the body was under the spirit’s control, it would’ve been able to respond appropriately.

This is why you must learn to tame your flesh and its senses by engaging in spiritual exercises. 1 Timothy 4:8 says, *“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”* You must strengthen and position your spirit to have mastery over your flesh.

One of the spiritual exercises you can engage in is memorising scriptures. Even though the scriptures are meant to be stored in your heart, it’s very important that you train your mind to keep and recall them.

Another form of spiritual exercise is fasting and prayer. When you fast and pray, you learn to put your body under. Your body may revolt at first, but don’t give in to it. Whenever you have an opportunity for spiritual exercise, do it gladly. That way, you’re taming the flesh and its senses and bringing it under subjection to your spirit.

_My spirit is alive to God and sensitive to His leading. I’m not a man of the senses; therefore, I refuse to yield to the cravings of the flesh. I’m from above; therefore, I seek only those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Hallelujah!_

*FIND OUT GOD’S PURPOSE*

_For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them..._ *(Ephesians 2:10 AMPC)*

As one who’s born again, your life has been so excellently planned out and preordained by God. All He wants is that you follow the blueprint. For instance, marriage or bearing children, though of natural desire and blessing from God, are not necessarily God’s specific plan for everyone (Matthew 19:10-12; Isaiah 56:4; 1 Corinthians 7:1-40). Also, preaching the Gospel everywhere is Christ’s general instruction to all Christians, but He has specific plans and can forbid you from doing so at certain places or times (Acts 16:6-10).

Some people have given birth to children that probably should never have been born. You may find this surprising, but if you study the Scriptures well enough, you’d understand. Someone might ask, *“Doesn’t the Bible say that children are the heritage of the Lord?”* That’s part of the reasons you must find out from Him if the one you’re bringing forth is from Him.

Some couples never asked God, *“Are we supposed to have children?”* They think once they marry, they must have children. Marriage isn’t necessarily for having children; that’s why it’s wise to pray and ask the Lord.

A lady had three children, but before they’d grow to be fifteen years, they died. You might wonder why God would allow her go through such an ordeal. But the question you’re not asking is, *“Were those children supposed to have come in the first place?”* We must learn, through the Spirit and the Word, the plan and purpose of God for our lives and how to walk therein.

There’re things that many people go ahead to do in life even though they aren’t part of God’s agenda for them. They want to live their lives for the joy of other people; they want certain jobs, professions or positions because others are pressuring them to. As in all things, God wants to guide you. Don’t think He’ll be mute if you ask Him; you’ll be amazed how fast and clearly He’ll speak to you and give you the guidance you need.

Never find yourself always insisting on what you want; ask God. You can be as happy as ever, fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. That’s the most important thing—discovering your purpose and fulfilling it.

*PRAYER*

_Dear Father, bringing you glory and expressing your righteousness is my number one passion, pursuit, and purpose every day. I’m filled with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, pleasing you in all things, and doing the good works which you’ve prearranged for me ahead of time, in Jesus’ Name. Amen._

*WHEN HIS WORDS ARE AT HOME IN YOU .*

_*If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7 ESV).*_

The Wuest translation helps us see that Jesus’ remark in John 15:7 is more of an instruction than a promissory note. He’s commanding you to ask whatever your heart desires. It says, _*“If you maintain a living communion with me and my words are at home in you, I COMMAND YOU TO ASK, AT ONCE, SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF, WHATEVER YOUR HEART DESIRES, AND IT WILL BECOME YOURS.”*_

Can you trust His Word? Yes, you can! Faith is about acting on the integrity of God’s Word. In these challenging times, you can rely on the Word of God. He said, “If you abide in me, and my words are in you, ask what you want, and it shall be done for you.” The Complete Jewish Bible puts it this way: _*“If you remain united with me, and my words with you, then ask whatever you want, and it will happen for you.”*_

All that’s required is for you to abide in Him and for His words to be resident in you. Are the words of Christ at home in you? Or do you set them aside? When His words are at home in you, it’s blessings all the way; victories only; success unlimited.

Colossians 3:16 says, _*“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly….”*_ When the Word is in you and abides, your faith is built strong; then you’re positioned to make a demand and create the kind of life you want, irrespective of circumstances.

VICTORY IN YOUR MOUTH

TUESDAY, APRIL 06TH

Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour (Joshua 6:1-2).

Joshua was one of such characters in the Bible who was guided to victory by divine revelation. As he prepared to lead Israel in one of her defining battles, the angel of the Lord appeared to him and gave him the strategy by which he should defeat the enemy. Even though the city, Jericho, was greatly fortified against aggression, God’s Word to him at that moment assured him of victory. The Holy Spirit gave Joshua the winning strategy. He said, “And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, …and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him” (Joshua 6:3-5).

Those walls weren’t ordinary walls; they were fortifications of massive proportions. However, when the Israelites shouted according to the Lord’s instruction, the walls came crumbling down (Read Joshua 6).

Aside that day, never in the history of mankind has it ever happened that people shouted and great walls fell down flat. I believe that when they shouted, every one of them released a sound code that caused the walls to come down: the energy of words! If releasing the right words or sound could bring down physical barriers, it’ll also remove financial barriers or any other kind of barrier.

Perhaps you’re in a financial strait; no money is coming in and none is going out; things are extremely hard. It’s time for you to get a hold of God’s Word for that situation and release it. Keep speaking until there’s a change. The same Holy Spirit that gave Joshua the strategy to take Jericho has given you His Word. He said in 1 Corinthians 3:21, “...all things are yours.” In Romans 8:17, He said you’re an heir of God, and a joint-heir with Christ.

Keep His Word in your heart and in your mouth in meditation. Keep pondering, muttering and shouting the Word until the situation you’re dealing with crumbles before you. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, it makes no difference how dire things get, you’re never confused; you know the way out of every crisis. I’m confident of your extraordinary strategies all the time. My life, ministry, family and business are flourishing exceedingly, moving forward and waxing greater by the day, as I walk in the light of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THE MYSTERY OF LIGHTS - PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THURSDAY, 11TH FEBRUARY 2021

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not_ (JOHN 1:5)

The Apostle John gave us the revelation of the incarnate Word. He describes how He (the Word) was in the world, but the world knew Him not. He unequivocally declares that God’s Word is life; that life being the light of men!

In the fifth verse, he continues, “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not The word translated “comprehend” is the Greek, “katalambano”; it means to seize, to attain, and also, to overcome. Thus, the light shines in darkness and the darkness couldn’t attain to its power; it couldn’t overcome, nor seize it.

The darkness couldn’t take a hold of, or comprehend the mystery of lights. The darkness couldn’t overpower or overcome light, and still hasn’t! Have you ever turned on the light in a room and the darkness was so thick that it caused the light to recede? That can never happen! Even if the light is small or a mere flicker, the darkness has to pull apart.

This should help you understand who you are when Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). He was talking about your calling as a Christian, and you must become conscious of this truth. You’re called to light up the darkness in your world, in your sphere of influence; you’re that light that darkness can’t comprehend.

Perhaps you’re a student, a security guard, a lawyer, a banker, doctor or scientist; you’re the light in your community of practice. If there’s so much darkness surrounding a subject, you’re the one to proffer answers. You’re the light in that field, imbued with supernatural ideas and genius for the solutions needed.

Light up your world today: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 AMPC).

CONFESSION
Everywhere I am, and in all that I do, my light shines with so much intensity for the world to see. I openly manifest the glory of God in my world, dispelling, ousting, and expelling darkness and all of the works thereof, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
