*Text:* Hebrews 13:4-8
*Key Verse*
Heb.13.8 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

In our previous lesson in this chapter, we were encouraged to possess agape love which is the God's kind of love.
Anyone who claims to be a child of God and doesn't demonstrate it, is deceiving themselves.

In today's passage, we have clearly seen that it is expedient for us as children of God to have godly character to help us live successfully here before our Master Jesus comes for our harvest.

From verse 4, we are encouraged to keep our marriage pure that our bed is unpolluted. S*xual purity must be found in christian homes so that everything concerning us will be perfect before God.
S*x is a kind of covenant existing between the two that engage in it. A situation whereby one of the couples goes out of covenant to make another, there will be problems. The edge of the home is broken permitting evil to come in. And also, making sub covenant in the original one.
This is exactly why God was angry with Israel for breaking the covenant He had with them. The Bible says he that breaks the edge will serpent bite.
So the bed of marriage is carried everywhere by the two involved and should not be defiled.
Couples must prevent anything that could allow defilement. A husband that feels having s*x shouldn't be denied by his wife. Then, consistent prayer life is required to make the marriage perfect before God.
The defiler or the defiled will be judged by God. Let's be careful how we handle our marriage.

Verses 5-6 encourage us to avoid the temptation of getting material things that could distract us from serving God rightly. We must be satisfied with the little we have, with the hope in God's provision at all times. He has promised to be with us always.
Some christians are guilty of this. When they get to church or anywhere, they look at others the way they dress and display their blessings. These get them off the track driving them towards looking for ungodly way out of their situations. This is wrong according to the text we read.

Christians should look unto Jesus alone for their needs. So that we can bodly say the Lord is our Helper we won't fear whatever comes our way.
We mustn't be influenced by what we see around rather, letting the mind of Christ influences us at all times.

Another godly character we need to possess is caring for our spiritual fathers; those who feed us with the word of God.
Though, things look upside down now in the world with blaming our godly leaders for not contributing well as expected. Yet, this is biblical standard for us to follow.
There are still some pastors who follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit to do things. Let's do our own part because Jesus never changes. He remains the same yesterday, today and forever.
We must also emulate keeping our stand for God as His children.
The world mustn't dictate for us what to do but the Bible.
I pray that God will help us all in Jesus name.

If you haven't surrended to Jesus, living godly will be very difficult for you. And making heaven will be very impossible for you too. Seek Him now that He is available.

*Arise O God And Help Our Nation*
*Text:* Psalm 59:1-5

Ps.59.4 - They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.

There's need for us to pray for our nation so that peace can reign. Ps 122:6

God is so much interested in every nation and their governments because He is the Owner of them all. But the devil has bastardized everything just to fulfill his mission.

We want to pray for God to arise for our help against those troubling our peace through
1. Looting our money
2. Kidnapping
3. Killing the innocent citizens
4. Religious bigotries
5. Other means.

God will be so happy if we can all raise our voices to say these prayers. Besides the efforts to pray, check your lifestyle if it's godly. If not, please repent now and tell God to forgive you so that you won't pray in vain. Jesus still loves you.

11. Father, in your wrath ambush all the troublers of this country in Jesus name.
12. Father in your mercy, awake to help us from all our troubles and let there be peace in Jesus name.
13. O God, as you rejected Saul as king for his disobedience, please reject all the evil politicians in our country covenanting with the devil against the citizens in Jesus name.
14. O God by your power and mercy, sanitize our country total solutions in Jesus name.
15. Appreciate God and add your own prayers.

*_Having The Mind Of Christ_*

Phil.2.5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Apostle Paul is encouraging us the believers in Christ Jesus to have the kind of mind Jesus has. This is for many reasons.

When we look at things going on today, we will discover the truth in the statement Paul made.
You can't imagine the rate at which many unbelievers have refused to come to Christ rejecting the true gospel because many so called children of God have bad attitudes.

I met a guy today in my hometown (Igbara Oke, Ondo State). And we were discussing about his faith. He said that he returned to Islam because even the leaders in the churches he had fellowshipped were not worthy of emulation. That he couldn't find Christ in them and therefore , concluded that accepting Jesus isn't real but just a false statement.

I was sad and tried to encourage him with the scriptures which he wasn't convinced enough because he was even drunk at the moment.

The truth is that Christ Jesus is so disappointed in many of us because of our lifestyles are not preaching Christ crucified and neither inviting sinners to Christ.

If the mind of Christ is in us, we will
1. Be broken
2. Be genuinely born again.
3. Let go of old attitudes not of Christ while putting on His new nature.
4. Be worth emulating at all times.
5. Win the losts to the kingdom of God.

It is high time we mustn't allow the bleeding of Jesus on the cross be in vain. Jesus is daily trusting us to represent Him well everywhere we go. The way we live must show Christ to people who see us. Some will go to hell because of misleading people.
Therefore, make God happy with your lifestyle.

*_Exercising Agape Love_*
*Text:* Hebrews 13:1-3
*Key Verse*
Heb.13.1 - Let brotherly love continue.

Agape love is the love of God daily shown to us unconditionally. It is exercised without compromise whether deserved or not.

This is the kind of love Jesus demonstrated for the world on the cross of Calvary just to save us all from eternal condemnation.
This kind of love can't be retaliated at all. For the love of Jesus can nobody pay back.

In the same way, when a child of God demonstrates love, such shouldn't expect the reward in return from the person it is shown to.

In verse 1, we are advised to continue in brotherly (Christlike) love. It is not a one done for a period of time and stop. It is a continuous one.
Brotherly love is the one to be shown to the less privileged in the fold of Christ. When you look round and find the needies, you try to help them with the mind of not receiving back. You don't need anyone to beg you before you give. You count it joy showing love.

The demonstration of agape love is not limited to giving money, food or materialism alone. But, to general hospitality which brings comfort to the body of Christ.

The reason for agape love is in verse 2, that by the continuation of showing love, you probably, show it to angels. This has lots of benefits.

Abraham showed love to some angels where he was blessed with the promised child (Isaac).
Lots also showed love to some angels unknowingly when they came to destroy S***m and Gomorrah. He accommodated them and was saved from total destruction.
The power of agape love can't be overemphasized. When you permit it in your heart, you won't be tired because it will be part of you. And you will always be rewarded for it.

In verse 3, our love showing should extend to the prisoners whether they're guilty or not.
Jesus said He will welcome in His kingdom anyone who helps those in hunger or in nakedness because they have done it for Him.

One of the things that will drive us into giving or showing love is when we put ourselves in the shoes of those in sufferings.
The kidnapers or evildoers do not have the mind of God. That's why they're able to engage in such wickedness.

As children of God, we must cultivate agape love at all times. This will help the church of God move forward. We should not find it difficult to give out to people who need our help. In so doing, we are evangelizing and making God happy.

A person who isn't born again genuinely, won't be able to show Christlike love. Mind you, the love of the world is different from that of God. We mustn't be tempted to equate the two so that our rewards won't be shattered in the end.
Please, surrender to Jesus now.

*_Judgment and the Call to Return_*
*Text:* Hosea 10:1-15
*Key Verse*
Hosea 10:12
Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.

Hosea pictured Israel as a fertile, spreading vine that used its fruit to build more altars and idols instead of worshiping God. The people had divided hearts and outwardly religious but inwardly unfaithful. Due to their idolatry, empty promises, and injustice, God said judgment was coming. Their idol at Beth-aven will be destroyed, they would be taken into exile, and their false kings would disappear.
Nevertheless, Hosea urged them to “sow righteousness” and seek the Lord while there was still time for them. He also warned that if they didn’t, judgment would be as sudden and total as a farmer’s wasteful year.

The passage ended with a picture of Israel being destroyed, like a city in battle, because they trusted in their own strength instead of God.

*Some Applicable Lessons For Us*

1. Verses 1-2 is talking about divided heart leading to spiritual barrenness. Israel looked fruitful but used God’s blessings for idols. For us today, it’s a warning not to use God’s gifts whether money, talent, influence etc to serve self or worldly things while claiming to love God. Matt 6:24 still applies.

2. In verses 3-4, empty words without repentance don’t fool God. Israel made promises to God but kept their sin deceiving themselves. If not cautioned, christians can fall into the same trap still pretending to be right with God in church. Yet, refusing to deal with sin. God doesn't want pretence but truth and holiness in the inward part of us. Ps 51:6.

3. Verses 5-9 and 13-15 declare that God’s judgment is serious, but with a purpose. The coming exile was meant to break Israel’s false trust in kings, idols, and military strength. Same with us, God sometimes allows discipline to shake what’s temporary so we’ll cling to Christ, Heb 12:6-11.

4. Verse 12 says there’s still time to turn back without delay. Hosea’s call to “sow righteousness” and “seek the Lord” is the gospel invitation to any wayward children of God who still desire heaven as their eternal home. Don’t wait until judgment forces your hand to do what's right. Sometimes , it may not come easy. Therefore, repent now and ask God to break up the hard ground of your heart. Let Him rain righteousness through His Spirit.

*Food For Thought*
God blesses His people so they’ll worship Him, not replace Him. A heart split between God and idols or worldliness will eventually reap trouble. But His mercy is still calling us to sow in righteousness and seek Him while He may be found.

*_Continuing In Prayer_*
*Text:* 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
*Key Verse*
2Cor.12.9 - And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Sometimes we use to think that our unanswered prayers are due to our sin or God's anger against us. But it is clearly shown here that God may have a purpose for not making us feel the impact of the prayers being answered.

Apostle Paul was one the good examples we can use here to encourage us that sometimes, God desires strength in our weaknesses. He may also want to protect us against loosing our salvation.

Then, His reason for not answering our requests may be that He wants us to deal with a particular situation that can destroy the good testimony of what He would do.
Though, sometimes, sin usually hinders our prayers from being answered. That's why we need to check well why we are delayed.

We can clearly be rest assured that God is on our sides during our trying times after we must have seen that we are right with Him.

A person like Paul cried to God three different times about the thorn he had in his flesh. This was a kind of affliction seriously bringing discomfort to him. Yet, his request wasn't granted him. And he didn't because of this stop praying or following Christ. He continued in the assignment given to him.

Sometimes, our unanswered prayers may become where God's power is revealed in us. He also may want us to be strong in our walk with Him. That's why we need discerning spirit.

I encourage us all not to be wearied of following Christ when it seems our prayers are unanswered. Continuous talking to God in faith shows we truly know Whom we believe.
God isn't deaf or blind not to have known what we are passing through. But He wants our patience, long-suffering, faith, resilience and demonstration of love for Him. Faithful is He who promised He will answer in His right time. He never comes too late.
Surrender to Jesus now if you haven't done so. He loves you.

*_Do Not Refuse Christ Rather, Live In His Unshakable Kingdom_*
*Text:* Hebrews 12:16-29
*Key Verse:*
Heb.12.28 - Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

The author of Hebrews is warning believers not to drift from Christ by comparing the terrifying, conditional covenant at Mount Sinai with the superior, grace-based covenant at Mount Zion. He calls us to respond to God’s voice with faith, holiness, and gratitude.

*Division Of The Lesson*

*A. The Warning Against Despising God’s Grace – verses 16-17*
Esau is the example. He sold his birthright for a single meal and later found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.
Therefore, we should know that grace can be treated lightly or take holy things as common. Esau valued temporary satisfaction over lasting inheritance.
The danger is not that God refuses to forgive, but that a hardened heart stops wanting to return. Let's be careful at all times.

*B. Two Mountains, Two Covenants – verses 18-24*
*Mount Sinai* Then was a place of fire, darkness, storm, trumpet and voice that made people beg for silence. It was a covenant of fear and distance.
*Mount Zion* is a place of heavenly Jerusalem and the city of the living God.
Here you find angels, the assembly of firstborn, God the judge, spirits of the righteous made perfect, Jesus the mediator, and His sprinkled blood that speaks better than Abel’s.
Therefore note that ee have not come to a place of terror, but to a Person and a kingdom. The gospel, unlike religion is better because it brings access, not distance, through Christ’s blood.

*C. The Call to Listen and Be Sober – verses 25-29*
God’s voice shook the earth at Sinai. Now He warns from heaven: _“See that you do not refuse him who is speaking.”_ He promises one more shaking that will remove everything that can be shaken so only the unshakable remains. Hallelujah !

Therefore, receive the kingdom that cannot be shaken with gratitude through our Lord Jesus Christ and worship God with reverence and fear, “for our God is a consuming fire.” Amen.
It is sure that everything temporary will be removed. Only what is built on Christ will stand. That should shape how we live and worship now. Enough of self deception.

*Some Applicable Lessons For Us*

1. Do not trade your inheritance for temporary pleasures like Esau.
Esau’s mistake was short-sightedness. In our day, it looks like choosing sin, compromise, or distraction over communion with Christ. Guard what God has given you - salvation, calling, family, integrity. And if you don't have any of these, please seek them now before it gets too late for you.

*2. Live with confidence in your access to God*
Under the old covenant, people couldn’t approach. Under the new covenant, you come to Jesus directly. Heb 12:22-24 is your position in Christ. Let that kill performance-based Christianity and produce bold, honest prayer. Heb 4:16

*3. Take God’s voice seriously*
God still speaks through His Word and Spirit. To “refuse Him who speaks” is to ignore Scripture, excuse sin, or silence conviction. The remedy is to listen, obey, and adjust quickly in repentance.

*Food For Thought*
Turn back to Jesus. He is the mediator of the new covenant whose blood speaks a better word than judgment. Receive His grace, and let it produce reverent, joyful obedience.

*_A Cry For God's Intervention_*
*Text:* 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
*Key Verse*
Ps.25.6 - Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

The Bible says Jabez was more honourable than his brothers but his mother wasn't happy with him because his birth came with pain. This made her call him Jabez (son of sorrow).

You may also be facing with terrible situations because of the negativity in your name or foundation. Some people may gather to curse you or say evil things because they thought you offended them; that may be giving room to satanic attacks in your life. Trust God for His intervention now in Jesus name.

The good news is that God is ready to deliver you from every bad situation you find yourself.

All you need do is to cry to God like Jabez did. He cried to the God of Israel with just five prayer points;
A. Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed.
B. Enlarge my coast,
C. That thine hand might be with me,
D. That thou wouldest keep me from evil,
E. That it may not grieve me!
And God granted him that which he requested. (verse 10)

If you don't want to pray in vain today, please surrender to Jesus now so that those curses and evil covenants will not work against your life again. Jesus loves you.

Prayer Points
Please say these prayers with faith in your heart.
1. Father, thank you for another opportunity to call on you in Jesus name.
2. Father, thank you because I will not pray in vain in Jesus name.
3. Thank you Father because your mercy will prevail over every negative situation I am being judged with in Jesus name.
4. O God of mercy, forgive all my sin hindering you from answering my prayers in Jesus name.
5. Blood of Jesus, pollute my life with your purity and power enough to set me free in Jesus name.
6. O God of Israel, bless me indeed in Jesus name.
7. O God of Israel, enlarge my coast for your glory in Jesus name.

9. O God of Israel, keep me from all evils assigned against me by the devil.
10. O God of Israel, preserve me from every grief or pain prepared by the wicked against my life in Jesus name.

12. In the name of Jesus, I break every curse pronounced against me for any reason.

*_Wisdom For Godly Living_*
*Text:* Proverbs 14:1-5
*Key Verse*
Eccl.10.10b
But wisdom is profitable to direct.

*Prov. 14:1*
_“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”_
A wise woman knows she owns her home and therefore builds it with her godly character. While a foolish woman destroys her home because she lacks godly character.
Wisdom shows up in patience, order, and godly priorities. While foolishness often looks like self-sabotage through negative words and actions.

*Prov. 14:2*
_“He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.”_
This means your upright walk with God proves you fear Him. Living uprightly is to honor Him. But living perversely while claiming faith is to despise Him in practice. God knows you more than you know yourself.

*Prov. 14:3*
_“In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.”
There is need to be careful about what you say because words have consequences. Pride and careless speech bring discipline and harm.
Being wise in restraining speech will guard your life and relationships.
A child of God doesn't talk anyhow but tame his tongue against useless conversations that trap destiny.

*Prov. 14:4*
_“Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.”_
If you want increase and fruitfulness, accept the work you do, the dirt in it, and the responsibilities that come with it. Growth is always messy. A clean but empty crib produces nothing.
God encourages resilience in everything we do.

*Prov. 14:5*
_“A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.”_
A true child knows that truthfulness builds trust while lying destroys it. A faithful person’s word is reliable because he says the exact truth irrespective of the consequences.
God expects His people to be known for honesty in every setting. A liar is for the devil.

Living in godly wisdom is what we as children of God who desire heaven need.

*_Rejection For Being Disobedient_*
*Text:* Hosea 9:11-17
*Key Verse*
Hos.9.17 - My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

In the previous lesson of this chapter, we learnt that God turned the joy of the Israelites and part of Ephraim who rejoiced in their pride and Idolatry into shame.
God made sure they went to captivity in Assyria.
So, we were then encouraged to always give God the glory for whatever success we have. Nobody can get well in the absence of God's intervention.

In today's lesson, God was so mad with Ephraim in particular because they were just too wicked. He promised to send them away from His presence.(vs 15).

The book of Hosea is a book we all need to learn from to put us in good order before God. If after these lessons you're still in your sin or waywardness, that means you have chosen to go to hell.

From verses 11-12, God pronounced woe to them because of their departed glory even before conception and at birth.
You can imagine a person living without a glory to shine, that means the person is finished. Exactly, what sin does by the devil. (John 10:10)

Why we need to be careful and run away from sin is that
1. It makes God get angry.
2. It brings divine judgement on the guilty.
3. It makes one become God's enemy.
4. It destroys destiny and glory.
5. It brings about setback and ill growth.
6. It makes one prone to satanic attacks at all times.
7. It brings poverty and reproach.

In verses 13-14, some of the rewards for their wickedness are miscarriages of babies in the wombs and the intervention of the wasters in whatever they do.

In verse 15, God declared His hatred towards them because of their wickedness. He decided not loving them again as their princes were rebels and were not showing good examples.

In verses 16-17, the strict judgement was given.
1. They would be smitten
2. Their root would dry up,
3. They would bear no fruit.
4. Their foetus would be slain.
5. God would cast them away.
6. They would be wanderers among the nations.

Honestly, the above consequences would be too much for them to bear. But, that's what sin does.
That's why this lessons are coming to us daily to check ourselves and repent if found guilty.

Sin is disobedience to God's instructions to making the devil happy and God unhappy.

As children of God who desire to go to heaven, we must do everything possible to live holy which is what God wants from us always.

There's no shortcut to making heaven other than genuine salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore , repent and accept Him now.
