*Topic: Competitiveness Begins from Home

*Focus Word
“Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion” (Isaiah 8:18).

*The Word
Like the Yoruba tribe would often say, ‘greatness begins from home’. This is true.

A child who isn’t well mentally and spiritually invested in at home won’t be able to attract positional and material advantage as an adult except he/ she retrains himself or herself.

The world is increasingly becoming capitalistic. Capitalism brings competition to living. Captalism ranks people. Capitalism creates class. Capitalism shifts material and positional advantages to those who possess substance inside. Capitalism transfers wealth and honour to those who can add value and are resilient.

Maybe you didn’t know. Your neighbours’ daughters, your uncles’ children, and children from far and near will be competing indirectly with your children for advantages in life’s capitalistic market tomorrow.

You will know if you have made a great investment by how much your children start earning when they grow old.

In other words, your children's salary or business income levels can be said to be directly linked to the level of your spiritual and mental investment in their formative years.

It is true that some children grow up to choose the wrong path later in life despite their parents' great efforts. Those are exceptional cases. Yet, no man or woman can come out boldly and say the children God gave them at birth were badly destined or born a pr******te or a lawyer.

What God gave every father and mother at birth is a beautiful, innocent child. That is why we celebrate. That is why people tell us congratulations!

Isaiah said, “Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion” (Isaiah 8:18).

A child success in life is the test of a family's success. A child's success in life will measure how successful the parents have been.

Parents, what you have received from the Lord at birth are children who are potential ‘signs and wonders’.

If the same child that was born beautiful and innocent and celebrated later should turn into a criminal, you can’t blame God.

God didn’t give us a criminal or a pr******te at birth. He gave every family a ‘sign and wonder’. It is by parents' carelessness and negligence, that children turned into bad social and economic actors.

Every family is given at least the first 13 to 18 years of a child's life to lay a foundation for the rest of the child's life. Those first 13 to 18 years are critical in forming positive character in the child by monitoring their behaviour, correcting their errors, killing emerging bad habits through punishment, and rewarding good traits through gifts. Creating a peaceful home (especially harmony between parents) to help them thrive.

If those first 13 to 18 years are badly managed, the family must be questioned for whatever the child becomes later in life!

Abraham understood this mystery. He monitored and mentored Isaac for greatness (Genesis 18:19). He showed Isaac good examples. He created the right environment for him to grow well (Genesis 21:9-14). He built Isaac into a strong and competitive young man.

When Isaac grew old, you could see the traces of his competitiveness when people competed with his business. Isaac stood his ground. He was resilient until he found success (Genesis 26:18-22).

When your children compete with other diligent, brilliant, honest, prayerful or occultic folks out there, will they be able to hold their ground?

Digest those questions. We won't fail in parenting in Jesus Name.

*Topic: Your Home Is a Production Line

*Focus Word
“For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him” (Genesis 18:19).

*The Word
We are taking yesterday's devotional further. Here we go. If you are married currently, you are God’s production line.

You are a production line for producing the next generation of men and women who will show forth the glory of God. You are a production line for producing the next generation of men and women who will shape the history of a nation.

You are a production line for producing the next generation of men and women who will make bold, beautiful discoveries in science and the economy.

You are a production line for producing the next generation of men and women who will erase the past errors and establish a new order.

If you visit a store, you will see various products sitting on the shelves. Those products have labels that help you know what they are, the ingredients they contain, the benefits of using them, and who produced them. Every human being isn’t different from those products on a shelf.

That young man at your place of work who got a promotion last week is a product of some family. Like products on a shelf, the labels that distinguishes him are the surname he bears and the content of character drilled into him by parents, school and church.

Now you can see that you are a product of somewhere and someone. If the production line does a poor job in enriching the character content of the product, the product may not sell well in the marketplace.

Parents, please, you are God’s production line. You are producing valuable brands that will compete with other people from other family production lines.

God boasted about Abraham that he would produce Children who would bring glory to His Kingdom, “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him” (Genesis 18:19).

God trusted Abraham as a divine production line.

Can God trust you to raise Children who would be a change-maker? Can your habit of daily beating your wife, or maltreating your husband in the presence of the children, raise them as a product to bring joy to human society and the
kingdom of God?

Can your habit of not having a personal devotion, missing church services, being lazy, gossiping, having extramarital affairs and fighting everyone in the neighbourhood raise your children as champions in an intensely competitive labour market?

By the way you treat and behave in the presence of your children, you are raising a product.

Like products on a shelf, the future will determine the value and how well your products sell in the marketplace.

Nobody buys a bad product. Nobody pays much for a poorly packaged product. Nobody purchases a product which would not give them rest of mind!

If a single lady is a great product, single men will love to marry and settle with her. If a young man is a great product, companies will like to give him opportunities, single women will like to settle with him.

Most importantly, parents if your products sell well, you will enjoy it in old age.

*Topic: The Home Ministry

*Focus Word
“27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:27-28).

*The Word
The first call of God upon mankind is ‘fruitfulness’. Everyone has this call.

After creating man, scripture says, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:27-28).

The call to fruitfulness is a strong call to a home or marriage ministry. This is what God gave to mankind first.

‘Fruitfulness’ represents reproduction, which is having children. A home comprises a man and his wife, and the children.

To be called to ‘fruitfulness’ is to be called to build a home. God is so interested in this calling as He is interested in prophetic, pastoral or evangelical callings.

Whatever ministry or business you are building, if your home is in tatters, you are not running the race of life perfectly (1 Timothy 3:4).

Whatever ministry or business you are building, if you are not helping your children to plan their future (Proverbs 13:22), you are not running the race of life perfectly.

Isn’t that the reason Abraham listened to Sarah to ensure peace in his home as well as create an environment for Isaac to flourish (Genesis 21:10-12)?

Isn’t it the reason God questioned Eli for not bringing up his children the right way (1 Samuel 2:22-34)?

Everyone of us has a calling to the Home Ministry. If you must fulfil this calling, you must concentrate on making your home heaven on earth.

To achieve that, like Abraham, seek peace and understanding between you and your spouse so that you can create an enabling environment for your fruit (children) to flourish.

It is when your children flourish in life by honouring God and being high performers in their divine purpose that you can claim to have really lived.

Nothing can substitute for this important calling our lives – cars won’t, houses won’t, big money in the account won’t.

Although material benefits are important, only raising children who will meet divine purpose will certify us as having really lived well.

*Topic: God Will Reward You Openly

*Focus Word
“5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6:5-6).

*The Word
What you do in secret will carry you in public. Most outstanding public exploits are products of secret preparations. The sportsman who made a strong field performance spent time preparing in secret.

The artistes who sang beautifully on the stage to a cheering crowd spent time preparing in secret.

The pastor who preached an impactful sermon spent time studying the Bible, praying or reading extensively.

Not great thing happens without preparation. Committing time to honing your skills in secret is necessary to delivering brilliantly in the open. Committing time to praying in secret is important to doing exploits openly.

Daniel had a secret praying life. He was a force to reckon with in Babylon (Daniel 6:10).

Scripture tells us, “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6:6).

God will reward you openly for the time you commit to studying your book in secret as much as He will for the time you commit to praying.

God will reward you for the time you invested in honing your skills in secret as much as He will for the time you commit to worshipping in secret.

No one emerges suddenly. Committing time to working in secret is important to dominating publicly.

How do you strengthen your secret space:
1. Decide the minimum time you will commit to praying on your own daily.
2. Decide the minimum chapters of the Bible you must read daily.
3. Decide the minimum time you will commit to rehearsing in your talent area daily.
4. Decide what day of the week you must fast.
5. Decide the minimum time you will commit to reading to know more daily.

Remember that what you do in secret is what will carry you in public.

I invite you to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Also, forsake your sins. Jesus is the Wisdom and Power of God (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).

Commit time to doing something worthwhile to build your life in secret.

*Topic: The Greatest Password

*Focus Word
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalm 100:4).

*The Word
The Psalmist says ‘Thanksgiving’ opens the gate to God’s courtyard.

If Thanksgiving can open the gate to where God dwells, there isn’t any hardened and tightly locked heart or promises that it can’t deliver.

Thanksgiving may sound like a simple expression of gratitude. But it is powerful.

It is so powerful that angels surrounding the thrones of God gave way and allowed the thankful person to reach out to God directly. It is so powerful that the gates to God’s dwelling – one of the most secure gates ever – opened by itself to allow the thankful person progress forward to reach God.

Thanksgiving is so powerful because it is one of the highest expressions of honour, humility and recognition, “One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well” (Luke 11:15-19).

The man who returned to give thanks to Jesus for healing must have been humbled by the magnitude of what had happened to him. He also didn’t have an entitlement mentality; he recognised that many people didn’t have the privilege he had just been given.

By coming to thank Jesus for his healing, he poured honour on God. For his actions, he received wholeness.

Do you have an entitlement mentality? People have an entitlement mentality take simplest benefits from God for granted.

Have you been grateful for your breath? Have you been grateful for the joy, salvation, children, peace of mind, jobs, sound health, etc. that you even have?

People who have a grateful heart never lack something to be thankful for! God will ensure their lives are not empty of goodness.

You must understand, most importantly that there is no one without something to be thankful for (Psalm 150:6).

Everyone has something to be thank God for. The reason grumbling and murmuring pi**es God off is that they show that the ones murmuring don’t recognise God for what they have.

Instead of murmuring and
complaining, God would want you to acknowledge what you have first, and then you can go ahead and ask for what you need or want.

Are you in a dire situation, or have you been asking God and haven’t seen answers yet?

Why not thank God for what you currently have first before switching to ask God for what you don’t have?

As you do so, your thanksgiving will unlock the gates to God to do more for you in Jesus' Name.

As well, don't forget to appreciate the good people God has been using to bring you joy and goodness.

I invite you to connect to God by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Also, forsake your sins. Jesus is the Wisdom and Power of God

*Topic: Competing for Greatness

*Focus Word
“7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceived the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:7-9).

*The Word*
Life involves competition. It didn’t start a few years ago. Competition originated from heaven. The dragon competed for dominion in heaven. He competed for power. He competed for a larger share of angels (Revelation 12:7-9).

He lost, though. However, since that day, competition hasn’t ceased.

Capitalism, which is the economic model that runs the global machine, is most about competition.

Check. Right from elementary school, we were taught to study hard to come top of the class. When we started our careers, we worked hard to be the ones management would notice and promote.

When it is time to get married, our men and ladies dress their best, flaunt whatever advantages they have and even pray hard to win the heart of their target person.

When starting a business, we strategise daily to ensure competitors do not push us out of the market.

As well, as our children grow, we try to invest in them mentally and spiritually to ensure they are strong and brilliant enough
to attract fat cheques.

Anyone who says they are not competing hasn’t yet woken up to reality.

In the Bible, David understood that some part of life involves competition early enough. He wasn’t going to be deceived. Years of suffering in the bush alone taught him a lesson.

When he became a king, he fought hard to get the best for his people and for God. The people he fought against weren’t sleeping. After David and Solomon had passed on, those people too fought back. They took back land, people and resources that previous kings took from them.

In fact, the land called the Promised Land was a place that had to be competed for, “Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that
have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of
the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast” (Joshua 1:3-4).
What am I writing this for? Firstly, I want us to realise that everything we receive was also wanted by someone else. So, we need to be grateful
to God and protect what we have. Secondly, I want us to wake up, stop being babies cheated in the world and fight and compete for the top, for
the best everywhere in industry, marriage, finances, leadership, etc.
How do we do that?
1. Know and surrender your life to God, who controls all things (Daniel 11:32b) – The closer you are to God, the more He helps you.
2. Work on yourself, push the best of you out, showcase the best of you (Romans 12:11) – You are unique, build on your uniqueness and
showcase it.
3. Prioritise self-development (Acts 20:32) – Some people won’t be attracted to you until something grows inside of you.
4. Develop a winning mentality (Philippians 4:13) – It isn’t everything that is meant for you that will come easy; develop a winning mentality
amid the contest.
5. Be wise (Matthew 10:16) – Wisdom is key to navigating life terrains; search scriptures and read widely to grow what is inside of you.
6. Grow the value you bring to the table (Acts 20:35) – People weigh people; work hard to keep increasing your impact and influence.
7. Be bold (2 Timothy 1:7) – Your dreams can be scary, the enemies may threaten; fear not. God is with you if you are with Him.
I invite you to surrender your life to God by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Also, forsake sin.

Topic: The Winning Team

Focus Word
“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand” (Mark 3:25).

*The Word*
The best support system is a family. I have often said that God original design is to build a family and relate through a family (Genesis 1:27-28). I believe God conceived the church because satan disrupted the family.

The family is a great spiritual and economic unit of life. A strong and united family is a powerful spiritual army (Deuteronomy 32:20).

The family is a child's first church. The father and mother are the Children's first idea of God. Whatever happens to the family will impact the children spiritual conceptualisation.

It is a joy where spouses are the best cheerleaders, confidants, friends, and prayer partners for each other.

It is a joy where the children are inspired and cheered by their parents. It is a joy where family bonds and defend each other.

There isn’t anything as great as when your family is your best social, psychological and spiritual teammates.

We can take a learning from a sports team. Members of a sports team fight for each other and defend each other. Goals are scored because they coordinate with each other. Trophies are won because they defend each other.

This is why every win is celebrated as a team effort.

God created the family to operate as a team, “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (Genesis 2:18).

A big part of life is competition. Careers often involve competing to reach the top. Running a successful business involves competing to remain profitable. Children compete in class to come out on top.

The ability of every family member to compete favourably – whether the spouses in their careers and businesses or ministries, or children in their education – would depend on the support they receive from the family.

Who does the husband turn to after a challenging day at the office?

Who does the wife speak to when her morale is down?

Where do the children draw inspiration from when competition in school sports games or class grades becomes intense?

If the husband looks elsewhere apart from the family, there is a problem.

If the wife looks elsewhere apart from the family, there is fire on the mountain.

If the children can’t be inspired to greatness by their family, something must be missing!

Jesus said, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand” (Mark 3:25).

Failure in life starts in the family. Success also starts in the family.

A family that is broken and cannot support each other morally, emotionally and spiritually is missing a lot.

Don’t forget that if spouses and children from other families are united, they could be having an advantage over yours.

In a highly competitive world, you are going to be competing against people who also have a family setting behind them. The stronger the support, the easier the lives of everyone from your family.

The enemy understood the role of a family support system. If the enemy is targeting the future of children, he will work to weaken their family support system by causing divorce or consistent domestic violence.

If the enemy is targeting the husband, he would weaken the relationship with his wife and children, vice versa.

Don’t let the enemy pe*****te your home. Your family is your winning team. The stronger your immediate family, the stronger you will be.

If your family isn't built on Jesus the Rock, there is a challenge. I invite you to surrender your life to Jesus Christ.
