*THE STILL SMALL VOICE*

*Romans 9:1 (WNT)*
*1 I am telling you the truth as a Christian man—it is no falsehood, for MY CONSCIENCE ENLIGHTENED, AS IT IS, BY THE HOLY SPIRIT adds its testimony to mine.*

Your tripartite nature makes you a spirit with a soul that lives in a physical body! Your body has a voice known as feelings. The soul (which is where your mind is located) has a voice known as reasoning. Your spirit man also has a voice known as your conscience through which God speaks to you. While the Holy Spirit doesn’t lead you by your feelings and reasonings, He communicates and leads you through the voice of your spirit – your conscience.

Every person has a conscience whether they are born again or not. Even when you weren’t saved, your conscience spoke to you! That’s why you said things like, “my conscience will not allow me to...,” what you were saying in essence is that your spirit is speaking to you just the same way your flesh will speak to you through your feelings when you were perhaps poked by a sharp object!

When you got born again, you became a new creation *(2 Corinthians 5:21);* your spirit was recreated, and your conscience became alive to the Spirit of God as a channel through which He can lead and instruct you.

Your conscience however MUST be trained by the Word of God because when you weren’t born again your conscience could be blistered by the environments and conditions you found yourself. Paul wrote to Timothy concerning wicked men in the last days and said in *1 Timothy 4:2* that these people, “... speaking lies in hypocrisy, having THEIR OWN CONSCIENCE SEARED with a hot iron.” When the conscience is seared or branded, it becomes impossible for the Holy Ghost to lead and speak to you through that suppressed conscience. Through constant meditation in the Word and fellowship in prayer your conscience is awakened to God’s Spirit.

This voice of your spirit is also known as the ‘still small voice!’ More often than not, it will rise up within you when you find yourself in a situation such that you can literally hear it with the ‘ear’ of your heart.

The Apostle Paul acknowledged in *Acts 23:1* that he always followed his conscience, and you should too. The way the Holy Spirit does this is what we read in our text today. Paul said,“… for MY CONSCIENCE ENLIGHTENED, as it is, BY THE HOLY SPIRIT…”Your conscience will always speak to you through that still small voice as the Holy Ghost lights your spirit. Your conscience will receive information from the Holy Spirit and pass it to your mind especially when you have to decide. This is why you need to learn how to get quiet in the midst of all options shouting out at you, and as you listen, you will hear that voice speak to you! The still small voice is always persistent and consistent!

Note however that the devil can also use a ‘weak’ conscience that is not yet trained by the Word of God to try to bring people into condemnation and shame. When it is the Holy Spirit, it will always agree with God's Word. It is always the Word of God over the conscience because the Holy Ghost will never speak against the Word.

Listen to that still small voice today and make the right decisions in Jesus' Name.

*DECLARE*

*I boldly declare that I am making the right decisions today! My heart is attuned to the Spirit of God. I maintain a good conscience void of offence towards God and as His Spirit instructs me on what to do, I will yield to the still small voice rising up within me. I declare that I have help as I navigate today’s activities in Jesus' Name.*

*Through constant meditation in the Word and fellowship in prayer your conscience is awakened to God’s Spirit.*

*GOD IS GOOD To All*

*Matthew 5:44-45*
*44 But I say to you, LOVE your enemies, BLESS those who curse you, DO GOOD to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,*
*45 that YOU MAY BE SONS OF YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.*

One of the things we have often overlooked in today’s text is that God will not ask us to do what He will not do. We have been taught that God only blesses those who bless Him and that He does good only to those who do good.

Our text reveals that our Father God does good things to those who hate Him; He will not ask us to do what He doesn’t do Himself. God doesn’t bless or do us good because of what we do but because of who He is. The Message Translation says, “... This is what God does.”

Understanding the goodness of God towards you in spite of your performance is the foundation of strong faith. If you don't know the character of God, it becomes very difficult to receive anything from Him. God’s goodness means that He doesn’t look at us to do us good because He gives rain and sunshine to both good and bad. If He doesn’t look at men’s goodness in order to give them rain or sunshine then be rest assured that He is not looking at your performance as His child to give you anything.

The peak of God’s goodness was demonstrated at the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus when He gave His Son as the sacrifice to pay for all your wrong doings so that you can freely receive everything that you need. *2 Peter 1:3* says, “According to his divine power hath given unto US ALL THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue...” It is His divine power - not our physical effort - that has given us ALL - not some - things. This divine power was demonstrated in the resurrection of Jesus *(Ephesians 1:19, 20).*

Whatever you desire today, healing, finances, a new job, a car, promotion, a business opportunity, just name it; I want you to know that it has been provided for you in the sacrifice of Jesus and all you have to do is to simply receive it by believing in what He has done for you and you shall have it *(Mark 11:24).*

Stop looking at your performance today and start seeing God as a good Father because of what He has done for you in Christ Jesus! Faith begins by believing in God’s goodness.

*PRAYER*

*Thank You Father for Your love, goodness and kindness towards me because of Christ Jesus. Thank You for life, preservation, protection and the abundance of all things! I reach out in faith today and receive all that you've provided for me in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.*

6 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.

7 And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

8 And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

9 And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.

10 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand.

11 And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.

15 Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.

MESSAGE:

I discussed handling failure properly yesterday. However, handling failure properly is not the only factor that can affect success in life; there is also the need to learn how to handle success correctly. Many people have eventually failed in life because they did not know how to handle their success.

In 1957, a man won £75,000 in a lottery. In those days, you could buy a flat in London for a tiny fraction of that sum. One day in the early 1980s, somewhere in Western Nigeria, I saw a man that was wearing rags, sitting beside a building that had collapsed in half. I asked the fellow who was driving me, “Who is that fellow?” He said, “That is the man who won £75,000 in 1957.” The man had great prosperity but did not know how to handle it, so he ended up poor. A popular proverb inspired by Proverbs 21:20 says that a fool and his prosperity are soon separated. If a fellow is not wise enough to handle success, it can turn out to be the beginning of great failure.

Don’t get over-excited when success comes. Many people start rejoicing and partying after a victory, forgetting that the devil never relaxes. What actually happens is that the devil becomes more determined to bring such people down. Don’t miss prayer meetings or your personal devotion because you are celebrating a victory. Yes, you won the battle, but the enemy is not dead yet; he is still roaming, looking for whom to devour (1 Peter 5:8). You should increase your commitment to God after every victory and not the other way around.

The devil knows that after successes, people are likely to relax, so he usually attacks them during such periods. After David killed Goliath, he raised King Saul up against him. It was after Elijah called down fire from heaven that Jezebel swore to kill him (1 Kings 19:1-3). When you attain success in a particular thing, you must not relax. You must remain alert and ready for battle. Don’t let success distract you from the end goal that God has called you to achieve.

One great success we had in RCCG was a programme called Lekki ‘98, where over six million people gathered in one place to worship God. Immediately after that programme, we doubled our missionary efforts, sending missionaries to new territories. We immediately started planning the next edition of the programme, and today, we have held much bigger programmes because we doubled our efforts and did not relax after our success.

KEY POINT:

When success comes, that is the time to work more, not the time to relax.

*THE PRINCIPLE OF LOVE*

*John 3:16 (TPT)*
*16 For HERE IS THE WAY God LOVED the world—HE GAVE HIS ONLY, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.*

The Bible says in *Genesis 8:22* , “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” This is the principle of life that God has set in place. He has designed that there can be no harvest without a seed and with a seed, you can determine your harvest!

The Bible says that God is love *(1 John 4:8)* and we are born of God. When God wanted a harvest of souls, He planted a seed – His Son. This is the principle of love because love gives and expects a harvest! As a Christian, your motivation for giving should be love and your expectation for giving should be harvest. Today’s text says in the Passion translation, “… here is THE WAY GOD LOVED the world – HE GAVE…” God is love and the character and principle of love are to give because giving is planting.

Never allow the devil to plant negative thoughts in your mind concerning the subject of giving and receiving. If you can comprehend that what God wills for you is a wonderful and prosperous life, you will never doubt His Word where giving of your material things is concerned. In faith, you will step out and give and expect a harvest from God.

When we want to see the situation of our lives changed, we plant the seed of God’s Word in our hearts and expect to become what that Word says. In the same way, when we give to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, it comes up to God as a sweet-smelling aroma and our lives are multiplied accordingly. Paul told the church in *Philippians 4:18* when they gave to the gospel that their gift was, “…a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.”

While it is very good and scriptural to give to the poor and the less privileged by way of charity because God will bless you for it, the highest form of giving is when you give to save souls because nothing helps the poor better than the gospel. It is the gospel – not charity, that saves! In *Luke 7:22* Jesus said, “…THE POOR have THE GOSPEL PREACHED to them.”

Throughout scriptures we see God giving to men and meeting their needs but the greatest gift He has given is the gift of His Son which is His seed of life. God gave Jesus to the world! Your greatest gift is when you plant your money or material things on the field of the gospel message that is saving and changing lives.

As a child of Love, start learning to plant your money in the gospel ‘field’ then you will harvest more! The ‘Law of seedtime and harvest’ guarantees that everything you give will (i) reproduce after its kind according to the Law of *Genesis 1:11* and (ii) according to *2 Corinthians 9:6,* you will also reap what you have sown in a multiplied form as healing, promotion, deliverance and grace. This law cannot fail even if it requires God to demonstrate His miraculous power and create a harvest for you just like feeding the multitude *(Matthew 14)* or turning water into wine *(John 2:3-10),* He will do it.

Be deliberate about planting your financial and material things in the gospel today and see God enlarge and multiply your life!

*DECLARE*

*Thank You Father because I am born of You and I have your life and nature in me. I give as You give. I am not afraid to give as I plant my financial and material seeds in the good ground of the gospel of my Lord Jesus Christ. Your love compels me to give as I expect to receive a harvest because I know that your principle of seedtime and harvest can never fail in Jesus' Name!*

*KEEP WALKING!*


*Psalms 23:4*
*4 Yea, though I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I will fear no evil; for YOU ARE WITH ME; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.*

As a child of God, you need to understand that you will go through tough times as a conqueror. Trials, difficult times, and life’s challenges of many kinds are sure to come whether you are a believer or not, but it doesn’t change the fact that you are born an overcomer. Your life is one of victory upon victory!

While there are things that Jesus has suffered on your behalf by way of substitution on the cross in His death, burial, resurrection and ascension, such as sin, sickness, poverty, demonic oppression, etc. (and there is absolutely no reason to suffer those things again or pay a price to have them), there are things that He (Jesus) also suffered by example from which you can learn. *1 Peter 2:21-23* says, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, LEAVING US AN EXAMPLE, that you should FOLLOW HIS STEPS: "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth" who, WHEN HE WAS REVILED, DID NOT REVILE IN RETURN; when HE SUFFERED, HE DID NOT THREATEN, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;”

There are times when it will look like all hell has unleashed their arsenals against you and tongues will be raised against you but you must trust God like Jesus to vindicate you and make sure of all that He has said concerning you.

Every trial and difficult season is a test of your faith, and the good news is that God has faith in your faith because it is built on an unshakeable foundation. *1 Corinthians 10:13 (TPT)* says, “WE ALL EXPERIENCE TIMES OF TESTING, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will SCREEN AND FILTER THE SEVERITY, NATURE, and TIMING of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And EACH TEST IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRUST HIM MORE, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously.”

The life of faith is not void of problems rather it is a life of constant victory amid the problems. Like our text, if you find yourself going through ‘the shadow of death’ moments, don’t throw in the towel, sit down, complain, murmur, and give up. Keep moving because you are only going ‘through’ it; God is with you, and He believes you can win because in Christ Jesus you have been born a winner! So, keep walking through!

*I am a child of God; born from the womb of His Spirit and I boldly declare that I am more than a conqueror. The greater One lives in me and puts me over every situation or circumstance that life throws at me. I will not quit because the victory is mine and I always win in Jesus' Name.*

*STEP OFF THE SHORES*


*Psalms 107:23-24*
*23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, who DO BUSINESS on GREAT WATERS,*
*24 THEY SEE THE WORKS of the LORD, and HIS WONDERS in the deep.*

Many are afraid of stepping off the shores into the deep ‘oceans’ of life in order to do business with God’s Word. They are fearful and will not dare to act by giving motion to their faith and because of that they don’t get the big ‘catch.'

God is calling us to come off the shores of life and take an adventure of faith by acting upon His Word.

When you have a revelation of the nature and character of God it won’t be ‘hard’ to trust what He says because faith isn’t a leap in the dark but a leap on the Word of God. This is exactly what Peter did when Jesus told him to come. Peter acted upon Jesus’ Word and walked on water *(Matthew 14:19-20).* There were no ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ for Peter!

What made Peter walk on water in simple faith was because he knew the character of Jesus. He knew that Jesus could be trusted and that He wouldn’t lie to him. Though it didn’t make sense to walk on water, Peter acted on the Words from the mouth of Jesus. This is why you must understand that faith isn’t a mechanical process that we follow but the result of a relationship we enjoy. Your faith is strengthened in the place of fellowship because you cannot trust who you do not know.

Peter said, “… Lord, IF IT IS YOU, command me to come to You ON THE WATER,” so Jesus said, “Come!” *(Matthew 14:28-29).* It had to be Jesus - not someone else – for Peter to step out of that boat. Those who know their God are strong and they do exploits *(Daniel 11:32).*

It is important as a child of God that every day you have special moments of devotion spent alone in fellowship with God. I call these moments ‘private devotion’ while some call it ‘quiet time.’ It is a time to be alone with God in meditation in His Word as you allow His Words to become personal to you. This is where faith is born. Without times like these, the life of faith will be a struggle.

When you know that God’s Word is the very Word of God speaking to you, it won’t be a struggle to act upon His Word like you would the word of your financial advisor, doctor, or coach. Like we see in our text, it is those who do business in ‘great’ waters that see the wonders of God! If you want to see the wonders, then stop playing safe! Do what He says to do!

Step off the shores today into the deep waters and experience new levels of victory.

*DECLARE*

*There are no impossibilities because the Word of God is my foundation for life. I know my Father and my faith is strengthened to act upon His Word. Thank You Father because Your Word can be depended upon because they are spoken from Your lips. I believe that I am healed, blessed, and favored in all that I do in Jesus' Name.*

*Faith isn’t a mechanical process that you follow but the result of a relationship you enjoy with God.*
