Graduation day feels like the finish line. The gown, the pictures, the “Congratulations Dr./Engr./Barr.” It looks like the end of struggle.
But in reality, it is the beginning of a different exam — one that no lecture hall can prepare you for.
That exam is called *“Life after school.”*
*1. The Uncertainty is Real*
For many graduates in Nigeria and across the world, the years after graduation come with 3 big questions:
*“Job?” “Money?” “What next?”*
You apply for 50 jobs and get no reply. Your course mates are "blowing" on social media. Parents are asking. Bills are waiting.
In that space, two things are easily lost: *Faith and Character.
Desperation can make a person compromise: forge a CV, take a shady shortcut, or abandon the values that carried them through school.
Doubt can whisper: “If God is there, why is it taking this long?”
This is why the conversation cannot stop at “how to get a job.” We must also talk about how to keep your soul while looking for a job*.
*2. Preserving Faith: Anchoring When the Ground Shakes*
Faith is not just for when things are good. It is a compass for when the map is missing.
Life after graduation teaches you that plans fail, but God’s plan does not.
Preserving faith means:
- *Consistency over intensity*: Keep your salah, your prayer, your dhikr even when you’re job hunting from 8am to 6pm.
- *Gratitude in the waiting room*: The degree itself is a miracle. Millions never got that chance.
- *Trusting the delay*: Sometimes what looks like “stuck” is actually “being positioned.” Yusuf (AS) was in prison before the palace.
