HAVING IMAGES/PICTURES IN THE CHURCH OR PLACE OF WORSHIP.

I have been like want to bring this up for long... but I think this is the right time... brethren... is it good to have picture or pictures in the church....?

Hold on a minute till I summarize Bible's view on the use of picture in the church or place of worship...

Before I start talking of this issue I think there is something I will like to clear first... and what's that? Its the fact that many have been deceived with the so called picture of "Jesus." Take your time on Google and search the word "face of Jesus" and see the different faces you will come by...

Now here is the real point... the book of Exodus 20:4,5 " Exodus: 20. 4. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me." The first was saying you should not make any graven image be it of the heaven or of earth... the fact is GOD don't want us to eslave ourselves to anything...

Allow me to branch to another aspect to help this issue... why do you think the 3 greatest Prophets of all times (Moses, Elijah and Jesus Christ) has no earthly burial ground or tomb...? This is because we human will turn their tomb to shrine... did U know the extent GOD went to retrieve Moses Co**se? Read the book of Jude: 1. 9. "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee." And to talk of the Elijah, we are all aware of how a Chariot of fire took him straight to heaven... and also we are aware of our Lord Jesus that was buried so he can battle death... which He conquered to give us eternal life, and He would have ascended straight to heaven but He chosen to first come to life so that His tomb won't be turned to a shrine...

Now let me go back to the book of Exodus 20:4,5... the book make it clear that even if it's possible that we come across a picture of GOD HIMSELF (which is not possible) we should not recognize it, coz HE made HIS point clear by saying " Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath" Even if you are convince that the picture is of Christ... it can't be in the house of worship... and to talk of my father in the Lord, St. Moses Orimolade's picture... samething is applicable to it...

Can any image or representation of GOD or Jesus Christ be made...? No, it's absolutely impossible; HE being infinite, incomprehensible Spirit (Isa 40:18) "To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?" For we cannot delineate our own souls, mush less the infinite GOD and Christ. Acts: 17. 29. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And we all know Christ is the symbol of GOD.

The book of ACT 1:8 says '"but YOU will receive power when the Holy Spirit arrives upon YOU, and YOU will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria and the most distant part of the earth"' (NWT)
Most so called man of God forget this part of the bible, so they always preach about miracle, fortune, deliverance, e.t.c...... We are to be witnessing CHRIST on earth, spreading the good news should be the top on our ministerial agenda.
I pray they will all change in JESUS name.

Brothers and Sisters, there are two type people that hear God's word. And they are:
Hearer Of The Word: These are the type of people that only hear the words of God without making use of the words. The worldly material or worldly gain won't allow them to act on any words of God they hear. Satan always put the materials of this world that will perish one day in the mind to distract their attention from acting on God's word.
Doers Of The Word: These are the type of people that don't just hear the word of God, but also meditate and act on it. They always put the word of God they hear at the centre/peak of their heart. They always put aside materials of this world that can distract them, and have their focus and concentration on God's word.
Brothers and sisters, don't let us just be the hearer of the word, but the doers of the word. And may Almighty Jehovah help us in HIS grace as we make up our to be the doers of HIS word in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

My dear brothers and sisters, christian means Christ-like or Christ follower. To be really like Him or to be His real follower, preaching and spreading the good news should be our number one priority. The Bible always talk Jesus Christ preaching the Kingdom of Jehovah than any other things. So lets make preaching of Jehovah's Kingdom over every other things. May God help us.
