You can only recover what you had lost. And you can't recover it until you discover that it's lost.
That's the weight in that sentence.
Most people think recovery starts when you find a solution. It doesn't. It starts when you finally admit what is missing.
1. You had to have possessed it first. You can't recover peace, purpose, health, faith, a relationship, if you never truly had it. Recovery is not about chasing something new, it's about returning to something that was once yours. 2. Discovery is the painful part. Loss is often silent. You don't notice when you lost your curiosity, your fire, your identity, your direction. You just wake up one day and feel empty. Discovery is looking in the mirror and saying: "I lost myself. I lost my way." 3. Recovery is intentional. Once you discover what was lost, recovery demands work. You have to go back for it.
A lot of people are trying to recover without ever doing the discovery. They're praying for restoration but they haven't named what died. They're working hard to get back, but they don't know what "back" is.
So ask it honestly: What did I have that I no longer have?
Your joy? Your discipline? Your closeness to God? Your clarity?
Name it. That's discovery. Then you can begin recovery.......
