Wilt Thou at this Time, Restore the Kingdom to Israel?
Acts 1:6 KJV
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
This was one of the most intriguing questions in the scriptures, asked by the apostles of Christ. I too, was expectant to know the answer that Jesus Christ would give.
The background of the question is that of people that;
1, Know Prophecy, though not fully understanding it; that the Christ who is the Messaih when He comes will deliver the people of their enemies and troubles.
2, That are troubled that despite the presence of intensified spiritual activities and demands, it looks as if there not much effect on natural events and circumstances.
Sometimes unbelievers and carnal Christians blackmail devoted believers who are consistent in spiritual disciplines especially prayers and fasting by saying how has your prayer changed the country or circumstances.
Let's look at Jesus's answers:
Acts 1:7-8 KJV
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. [8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
John 18:36-37 KJV
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. [37] Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
So Jesus is basically saying that kingdom matters are superior to mere earthly matters and divine purpose is superior to human plans and ways.
