THE POWER OF GOD AND THE ALTAR OF GOD
1 Kings 18:22-39

Key Scripture: "The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out" (Leviticus 6:13)

We cannot reflect on the power of God without considering the altar of God.

Altars are sacred places built as a secluded places to meet with God, worship Him with sacrifice and pray to Him. God honours altar if genuinely built by making His presence, power and glory manifested there.

Abraham built an altar unto God when He appeared to him. "And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth–el, and pitched his tent, having Beth–el on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD" (Gen. 12:7-8 ).

God also instructed the people to build an altar unto Him with in
Ex. 20:24-25: "An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee".

In the passage, Elijah confronted the 400 prophets of Baal to differentiate between the true God and the false god through raising of altar.

The prophets of Baal called their god but fire did not fall on their altar. Fire fell from heaven on the altar that Elijah raised for God. "And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God" (vs. 39).

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ became our final altar who submitted Himself to God as sacrifice to appease God for our sins to receive salvation (Heb. 13:10,15).

As children of God, our body is the temple of God that represents the altar of God in which He dwells (1 Cor. 3:16-17). In this altar, we praise, pray and live consecrated life as holy sacrifices which is our reasonable service (Rom. 12:1-3).

We can have Personal altar, Family altar and Church altar for memorial, worship, prayer and praise.

In the Old Testament, the Israelites were commanded to keep fire burning always on the altar of God with sacrifices to sustain the presence of God among them.

So must it be today, but that fire is the Holy Ghost fire, an unquenchable fire through our praises, prayers, meditation in the word of God and a life of holiness, so that the presence, power and glory of God be manifested continually in our lives.

Read and Meditate: Romans 12:1-2

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to keep the fire burning on the altar of God in my life and home in Jesus name.

Intercession: Prayer for new move of the Holy Spirit miraculous power in our generation.

*THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH THE MERCY OF GOD*
Romans 9:15-18

*Key Scripture* : " _So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy' (Romans 9:16)_

God’s mercy is one of His greatest displays of power. His mercy endures forever.

The Psalmist dedicated Psalm 136 for the demonstration of the power of God through His mercy that endures forever. He says in verses 4-6, 'To him who alone doeth great wonders: For his mercy endureth for ever. To him that by wisdom made the heavens: For his mercy endureth for ever. To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: For his mercy endureth for ever".

The power of God is manifested through the mercy of God in the following ways:

1) The mercy of God produces forgiveness of sins. "Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness.
According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions" (Ps. 51:1).

2) The mercy of God attracts the favour of God. 'Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: For the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come" (Ps. 102:13).

3) The mercy of God attracts the help of God. "Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me:
LORD, be thou my helper" (Ps. 30:10); Heb. 4:16.

4) The call unto the Lord for His mercy is a call for divine intervention which the Lord responds quickly to. "And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed" (Luke 17:12-14).

5) God's mercy is the reason we are alive and saved. His mercy is powerful enough to bring us from death to life. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — by grace you have been saved.” (Eph. 2:4-5).

Beloved, call upon the Lord to show you mercy on any matter and He will answer you.

*Read and Meditate* : Lamentations 3:22-23

*Prayer* : Lord, have mercy on me and change my story to glory.

*Intercession* : Pray for Italy. Christian population: 82.38% (Evangelical: 1.1%). Pray for the million of Italians either locked in dead traditions or disillusioned by organized religion altogether; may they discover the living Christ.

THE POWER OF GOD AND THE LOVE OF GOD
1:John 4:7-19

Key Scripture: "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him" (1 John 4:9)

A potent weapon in the hand of God in relating with mankind is His divine love called Agape manifested in the following ways:

1) The sacrifice of His begotten Son for our redemption and salvation. 'In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world... In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” ( 1 John 4:9-10). God’s greatest power demonstrated was the cross.

2) His love regenerated and transformed us. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ” (Eph. 2:4-5).

3) His love does not just save us, it empowers us to become overcomers“. In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us... neither height nor depth... will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:37-39). God’s love makes us victorious.

4) Love is part of the power package God gives. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control' (2 Tim. 1:7).

5) God's love motivates our love for Christ and helps us to possess the fullness of God. “...that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend... the love of Christ... and to be filled with all the fullness of God" (Eph. 3:17-19).

6) God's power works through us when we love others.
When we walk in love, we release God’s power to the world. “If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us” (1 John 4:12).

7) Gifts and power without love are empty. Love is what lasts beyond death. “...but have not love, I am nothing... Love never ends” (1 Cor. 13:1-3, 8).

8) Love is the foremost of all the fruits of the Spirit and stronger than any power gift for signs and wonders.

Beloved, nothing is stronger than God’s love. It is God’s most powerful force because. “God is love” (1 John 4:8).

Read and Meditate: 1 John 4:18

Prayer: Father, let your love fill my heart and empower me to do your will on earth

Intercession: Pray the same prayer for members of your family.

THE POWER OF GOD AND THE GRACE OF GOD
2:Corinthians 12:7-10

Key Scripture: "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ" (Ephesians 4:7)

The grace of God is fundamental in the Christian faith. We are saved by grace (Eph. 2:8); grace of God teaches us to live righteously in this world of sinfulness and ungodliness (Titus 2:11-12); it enables us to have sufficiently in all things (2 Cor. 9:8). .

Grace of God is a channel through which God's enabling power helps our Christian faith and journey to be successful.

When we are weak, the power of God by grace strengthens us. Apostle Paul writes, And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me" (2 Cor. 12:9).

The grace of God empowers us to do the work of God productively. "And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all" (Acts 4 :33).

Apostle Paul also writes, "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me" (1:Cor. 15:10).

Beloved, grace of God is be made available to you in any area of life when you approach the throne of grace for enabling power when your human capacity is exhausted.

Read and Meditate: Hebrews 4:16

Prayer: Father, make your grace sufficient for me in every area of life.

Intercession: Pray the same prayer for believers in Christ globally.

THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION
Romans 1:15-17

Key Scripture: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16)

The power of God in whatever form it is manifested culminates to salvation of the soul eternally.

The manifestation of the power of God in signs and wonders are to evidence the gospel. "And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following" (Mark 16:20).

However, salvation is paramount than miracles in the life of a person.

The conversation Jesus Christ and His confirms this. "And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:17-20).

Salvation is eternal while signs, wonders and miracles are earthly of no eternal value.

Beloved, let us pursue wholeheartedly for salvation than the material and temporal things of life. "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12).

Read and Meditate: Psalm 106:8

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to work out my salvation with fear and trembling

LIVING BY THE POWER OF GOD
Romans 8:11-13

Key Scripture: "For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the
power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you" (2 Corinthians. 13:4)

Living by the power of God is our reflection for today. We shall focus more on the spiritual life of a child of God rooted in Christ Jesus.

It is in Christ, we can live by the power of God. Apostle Paul says, "for in him we live, and move, and have our being..." (Acts 17:29).

To the Ephesians, he writes, "and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Eph. 2:6).

He told the Colossians, "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God" (Col. 3:3).

He also writes, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Gal. 2:20). By faith, we live a victorious life by the power of God.

Moreover, we live by the power of God through the Holy Spirit. "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. We live in the present crooked world through the Holy Ghost by quickening our mortal bodies" (Rom. 8:11).

In addition, we live by the power of God through the application of the word of God (Joshua 1:8; Ps. 1:1-3).

Beloved, living by the power of God, gives us victory in every facet of life.

Read and Meditate: Romans 8:13

Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill me with the power of God to succeed in every area of life.

Intercession: Pray for Finland. Christian population: 83.75% (Evangelical: 12.1%). Pray that more vibrant spirituality to replace traditional religious and cultural forms in the church.

THE POWER OF GOD IN ALL GENERATUONS
Daniel 4:1-3

Key Scripture: "Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come" (Psalm 71:18)

Today, we shall reflect on the Power of God in all Generations.

A generation is a period of years within which certain group of people are born usually spans between 25-30 years. Biblically, generation is a period or dispensation of a group of people who served God. "A seed shall serve him; It shall be accounted to the LORD for a generation" (Ps 22:30).

The Christian dispensation is a generation called a Chosen generation. "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" (1 Pet. 2:9).

The power of God is manifested uniquely in every generation. Many generations have passed in this world but the power of God remains the same.

Our present generation in the secular world cannot be exempted from experiencing the power of God in a special way. Hence, before the Second Advent of our Lord and Saviour, God through the church will manifest His presence and power like never before.

Beloved, expect greater manifestation of the power of God in the church and in your life (called revival). But we have to prepare for it with hunger and purity

Read and Meditate: Psalm 85:5-7

Prayer: Holy Spirit, ignite the revival fire in me to impart my generation for God.

Intercession: Pray for Indonesia. Christian population: 15.83% (Evangelical: 5.6%). Pray for divine visitation to change the spiritual equation of the nation in favour of more souls for Christ.

THE POWER OF GOD IN A NATION
Acts 17:24-28

Key Scripture : " _And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation"; (Acts 17:26)_

The power of God is not for God to intimidate and oppress mankind but for the benefit of individuals, families, the church and nations without discrimination. Today, we shall reflect on the power of God in a nation.

According to the passage, a nation is a people living within a geographical boundary as ordained by God, having the same governing authority.

The power of God is manifested in a nation when the people do the following:

1) Fear God.(Mark 2:1-12)

2) Live in righteousness. "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34) .

3) When the righteous is governing the land. "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn" (Proverbs 29:2).

4) When the righteous in the land intercede for the nation. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land'.

5) When the gospel light is permitted to shine and the people are responding to the gospel. Paul and Barnabas declared, "For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed" (Acts 13:47, 48).

6) God sometimes uses those in authority in the nation to manifest His power and bring His will to bear (Rom. 13:1-5).

Beloved, God has planted you in your nation to be His ambassador and a channel of blessings..

Read and Meditate : Romans 13:1-5.

Prayer : Lord, make a channel of blessings to my nation

Intercession; : Pray that the power of God be made manifest in the nations of the world like never before that will draw many to seek and serve Him

POWER OF GOD IN THE HOME
Psalm 128

Key Scripture: "Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: Thy children like olive plants round about thy table* (Psalm 128:3)

The home is an institution of God which comprises father, mother and children.

The home started with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. "And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" (Gen. 2:18).

God empower the man for his home to be fruitful, multiply and have dominion. "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth" (Gen. 1;28).

The power of God in the home brings procreation, prosperity and protection particularly for the children of God.

From the passage, it can be deduced that the power of God in the home will bring about principally the following blessings:

1) Spiritual blessings. "Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD;:That walketh in his ways" (vs. 1).

2) Business/Occupational prosperity. "For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands" (vs. 2a).

3) Physical wellbeing and sound health. "Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee" (vs. 2b).

4) Fruitfulness of the mother in the home. 'Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house" (vs. 3a).

5) The children in the home are blessed. "Thy children like olive plants round about thy table" (vs. 3b).

Beloved, all -round prosperity including spiritual growth takes place in your home when the presence and power of God are in the center stage.

Read and Meditate: Psalm 127:1

Prayer: Lord, give my home all-round prosperity in Jesus name.

Intercession: Pray for Fiji. Christian population: 65.05% (Evangelical: 25.2%). Pray for new life and right priorities for this highly influential denomination

THE POWER OF GOD IN BUSINESS
Luke 5:1-11

Key Scripture: "But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day (Deuteronomy 8:18)

The story in the passage is the encounter of Peter with Jesus at the Lake of Gennesaret. Jesus needed to use a boat to preach the gospel by the side of the Lake and Peter made available his boat and got a reward for supporting the gospel after a fruitless labour throughout the night., Peter trusted in the word of the Lord absolutely not relying on his expertise and experience. In return for his obedience to the word of the Master, he got astonishing breakthrough beyond his imagination. .

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken (Luke 5:8-9).

The miraculous working power of God is beyond your education, family, social backgrounds and business expertise. It is majorly dependent on receiving divine direction as to what to do per time and in obeying divine instruction. It also requires giving sacrificially to the work of the Lord and the preaching of the gospel in particular.

God can demand for your time, money, business, house, car and any other precious thing in your possession to use it for the furtherance of the gospel. When it happens, dont disobey so that you will not lose the unprecedented breakthrough for your life and business.

Read and Meditate: Job 36:11

Prayer: Holy Spirit, give me divine direction that will launch my business, work and ministry into outstanding breakthrough in Jesus name.

Intercession: Pray the same prayer for members of your family.
