LEARN FROM HAMAN
In the book of Esther, Haman was a prominent prince that king Ahasuerus promoted above every other prince in his kingdom. This is a great thing that Haman could have lived long to enjoy with his family and friends. But this was not the case, he danced shamefully before his enemy, died at the peak of his success and his children were destroyed.
Everything was going well with Haman until it was reported to him that Mordecai disregarded him and find out that Mordecai was not honoring and celebrating him like every other person in the city. In the whole city, Mordecai was so insignificant that Haman himself did not notice him until he was told.
Haman gave attention to just only Mordecai that refused to honor him and that was the beginning of his end. Haman could have ignored Mordecai and moved on in life with the multitude that was singing his praise and saved himself from so many troubles. Though a wise person will not get himself committed to praise singers not to talk of the critics. Jesus our perfect example, knowing all men, did not commit Himself to them either praise singer or critics. John 2:23-25
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
Haman decided to show his power and deal with Mordecai and all Jews. Though he had the power and the influence to make the decree and publish it all over the empire but the end is determined by God. Critics and those that are not celebrating you don’t deserve your attention. Don’t make them a business for any day.
Haman was so engrossed about the matter of Mordecai that was not celebrating him to the extent that all the good things in his life- his family, promotion and even the privilege of being the only prince that was at the dinner with the king, were no more important to him.
Moreover, Haman surrounded himself with wrong peoples. (Esther 5:14). His wife and friends told him to get rid of Mordecai so that Haman can be fully happy. How can your happiness be determined by another person’s existence. Or how can getting rid of another person bring true and lasting happiness. Over such matter like this, think twice before you take the step of dealing with others that seem insignificant, for it may not turn out as you think. Haman was on the way to ask for permission to kill Mordecai that he was called to dance the dance of shame before Mordecai.
Where were his praise singers when he was to be hanged on the gallows he was advised to erect for the ex*****on of Mordecai? The same praise singers that were singing hosanna are the ones that predicted his fall. Esther 6:13
Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.
Dearly beloved, this is a great lesson. Therefore, be careful as you run in the journey of life. Remain blessed.
