EXODUS 3:1–6.
[1]Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
[2]And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.
[3]Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
[4]So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”
[5]Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”
[6]Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

_FAITHFULNESS IN OTHER PEOPLE’S BUSINESS GIVES YOU YOUR OWN_

*BRIEF COMMENTARY*
In our passage today, we see Moses wholly committed to the business of his father in-law, Jethro. Moses led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God (v.1). There, the angel of the LORD appeared to Moses in flames of fire. Moses saw that though the bush was in flame but it was not burning. So Moses decided to go over and see why the bush does not burn up (vv.3-4). When the LORD had gotten his attention, He called him from within the bush, and Moses responded, Then God warned him not to come closer to the mountain but should take off his sandals, because the place where he was standing was holy ground. God introduced Himself to Moses as God of his father, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God (vv.5-6). This is the same Moses who once lived in a palace, now he humbled himself to be a shepherd not of his own flock, but of his father in-law. This humble act sets the stage for divine encounter and elevation. Because he was consistent in managing another man’s resources, he received a divine assignment. God watches how we handle what belongs to others, be it a job, a Church or family responsibility before entrusting us with what is truly ours. The burning bush will only appear to us if we diligently tend our current assignment.

*DECLARATION* :
_I will be faithful in other people’s business until I receive my own greater calling in Jesus Name Amen_

*PRAYER:*
_Lord, like Moses, help me to be faithful in the service of someone else’s business so that You can reveal my own greater calling to me in Jesus name._

1 Kings 21:1-7
[1]And it came to pass after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
[2]So Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is near, next to my house; and for it I will give you a vineyard better than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”
[3]But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”
[4]So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.
[5]But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?”
[6]He said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”
[7]Then Jezebel his wife said to him, “You now exercise authority over Israel! Arise, eat food, and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

*TOPIC:*
_WHEN NO IS ACCEPTABLE_

*BRIEF COMMENTARY* :
Happy New Year to you dearly beloved. Thanks to Jesus Christ for His mercies that has brought us into this New Year of Exceeding Great Joy.
Our text today, shows us how King Ahab approached Naboth, demanding to acquire his vineyard, (vv. 1-2). Naboth boldly answers him no, and explains why he won't sell the vineyard, (vv. 3-4). King Ahab refuses to accept no as an answer to his request, and is visibly displeased with Naboth. But, the King's wife, consoles him and promises to give him the land, reminding him of his kingship authority, (vv. 5-7).
The King was not wise enough to understand the relevance of inheritance for family continuity and history. So, he became hesitant to accept the explanation of Naboth. Likewise the Queen, misunderstood the right use of authority, and promised to give what is not hers. Family inheritances are to be wisely preserved, (Prov. 13:22). Selfishness and insistence on having things our own way, will make us unable to see our boundaries, as we relate with one another. When we are familiar with the word of God, and lean only on Him, we will have understanding to know when to accept no as an answer, and be content with what we rightfully own, (1Tim.6:6-8).

*DECLARATION:*
_We declare our selflessness in acquiring and using our resources to serveg only the will of our God._

*PRAYER:*
_Lord, we receive the wisdom of godliness and contentment in all our dealings with one another._

Matthew 2: 1 - 10
[1]Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,
[2]saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
[3]When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
[4]And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
[5]So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:
[6]‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ”
[7]Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.
[8]And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.”
[9]When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.
[10]When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

_EXCEEDING GREAT JOY_ .

*Brief Commentary*
You are welcome to the Year 2026. This Year is Our Year of Exceeding Great Joy.
The wise men from East followed the star which led them to Jerusalem but they mistakenly went to King Herod to inquire about the place of the birth of the new king. King Herod made some research through the Prophets and Priests who informed him that the king would be born at Bethlehem in Judea according to the Scriptures that had been predicted.
He sent them to Bethlehem to find out the place and return words to him so that he may go and worship him also though he had an ulterior motive. The wise men continued the journey and when they saw the star that indicated the place of the birth of the new King, they had 'exceeding great joy'.
In this New Year , the Lord has promised Exceeding Great Joy to us as individuals, families and the Church as a whole. You shall not make any costly mistakes this Year. You shall be guided by the Star and your journey shall be successful in all ramifications. We must abide by the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit for success, peace and joy.

*DECLARATION*:
_We declare that in this New Year, we shall not make any costly mistakes, we shall be guided by the Star._

*PRAYER* :
_Oh Lord, guide us with your Spirit throughout the journey of this Year_ .
