Do this as a Catholic every night before sleeping

Have you ever wondered why the Church encourages prayer before going to bed? Nighttime is not just a time to rest the body; it is also a sacred moment to hand over our worries, seek God’s protection, and prepare our souls in peace. Many spiritual attacks, fears, and anxieties happen at night, but a prayerful Catholic goes to sleep covered in grace, not fear.
These simple practices can help you sleep with confidence, knowing God and His angels are watching over you.

1. PRAY THE ROSARY.
The Rosary is one of the strongest spiritual we@pons a Catholic has. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it brings peace to the heart and protection to the home. Even one decade prayed with faith can calm the mind and invite God’s presence into your night.

A home that prays the Rosary invites the protection of heaven.

2. SAY THE PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL.
Calling on St. Michael is asking heaven’s warrior to stand guard over you while you sleep. This prayer is especially powerful when you feel afraid, restless, or spiritually uneasy.

God assigns angels to defend His children, especially in moments of vulnerability.

3. SAY YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL PRAYER.
Every Catholic has a Guardian Angel given by God from birth. Speaking to your angel before bed is a way of asking for guidance, protection, and peaceful rest through the night.

You are never alone, your Guardian Angel is always near.

4. SPRINKLE HOLY WATER IN YOUR ROOM.
Holy Water is a sacramental of the Church used for protection and blessing. Sprinkling it in your room before sleep is a simple act of faith that invites God’s presence and drives away spiritual disturbances.

Sacramentals remind us that God’s grace reaches into our daily lives.

5. SPRINKLE BLESSED SALT (If Available).
Blessed salt has been used in the Church for centuries as a sign of purification and protection. A small sprinkle in faith is a reminder that God preserves and guards His people.

God uses simple signs to bring spiritual strength and protection.

6. PLEAD THE BL00D OF JESUS.
To plead the Bl00d of Jesus means to place yourself under the saving power of Christ’s sacrifice. It is a prayer of trust, asking Jesus to cover you, your family, and your home.

The Bl00d of Jesus is a symbol of victory, mercy, and protection.

7. EXAMINE YOUR CONSCIENCE.
Before sleeping, take a quiet moment to reflect on your day, your words, actions, and thoughts. Ask God for forgiveness for any sins and thank Him for the blessings you received.

A peaceful conscience leads to peaceful sleep.

8. READ A SHORT PASSAGE FROM THE BIBLE.
Even one verse from Scripture can calm your heart and fill your mind with hope. God’s Word brings comfort, guidance, and reassurance before rest especially Psalm 91.

The Word of God strengthens faith and quiets anxiety.

9. FORGIVE EVERYONE IN YOUR HEART.
Going to bed with anger or resentment can disturb your peace. Choosing to forgive, even silently, opens your heart to God’s grace and healing.

Forgiveness brings freedom to the soul.

10. MAKE THE SIGN OF THE CROSS AND ENTRUST YOURSELF TO GOD.
End your night by making the Sign of the Cross and surrendering yourself to God’s care. This simple gesture is a declaration of faith that your life is in His hands.

Trust in God brings true rest.

A Catholic who prepares spiritually before sleep rests not only the body but also the soul. These nightly practices invite peace, protection, and God’s presence into your home.

Tonight, before you close your eyes, try at least one of these, and watch how your nights become calmer and more peaceful.

Now you know.
