This Valentine's Day, we're reflecting on what seventy years of marriage has taught Chuck and Cynthia Swindoll about covenant love.

When asked how Cynthia has shaped his life and ministry, Chuck's answer reveals the heart of their enduring partnership:

"She hears my secrets and keeps them sealed. She knows my faults and forgives them...always. She feels my failures and apprehensions and encourages me through them."

This is the quiet beauty of a love that has weathered seven decades together—a love built not on perfection, but on faithful presence. On knowing each other fully and choosing grace repeatedly. On private conversations that protect dignity while pursuing growth together.

"She really loves Christ, and she wants excellence for me. When I haven't done my best, she knows it. She'll approach me all alone—never to embarrass me—and will say, 'We probably need to talk.' She gently encourages me to do my best and offers to help me."

God's faithfulness is on display when two imperfect people choose to extend grace day after day, year after year. The Swindoll's marriage reflects what happens when Christ becomes the foundation—when His mercy shapes how we respond to each other's faults, when His love teaches us to encourage rather than condemn, when His example shows us what it means to honor our vows through every season.

Their story reminds us that lasting love isn't about finding the perfect person, but about allowing God to transform us into people who love like Christ—with patience, forgiveness, and unwavering commitment.

"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." — Romans 12:10

Billy and Ruth Graham were brought together by their love for God. After meeting at Wheaton College in 1940, both committed their lives to serving the Lord—a commitment that continued into their marriage. As Billy traveled across continents sharing the Gospel, he often drew strength from knowing Ruth was at home faithfully caring for their children and shaping a Godly home.

While Billy regularly wrote detailed letters during long periods of travel, Ruth often expressed her love in poetry. Over the years, she wrote dozens of poems that captured her devotion, gratitude, and reflections on life with Billy. Like any marriage, theirs experienced seasons of closeness and distance, joy and sorrow. In a note to her beloved husband in 1978, Ruth wrote:

A dream fulfilled …

To walk with you
through all these years,
through every kind
of weather,
and walk into
the setting sun
still loving
and … together.
