*CONSISTENT SELF-EVALUATION*
Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 13:5-10
Bible In One Year: Isaiah 19-21, 3 John 1
It will be practically wrong to live our lives without personal evaluation. In the contemporary society, people are evaluated before promotion to the next level in schools, corporate entities and even in bible schools. Therefore, it is non-negotiable to carry out assessment of yourself with obvious variables in every facet of life.
Evaluation is possible because as believers, we know what God expects of us and we equally know our level of compliance. We are in compliance or we fall short of God's expectation. David was emphatic when he noted in Psalm 139:23-24 as stated, _“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”_ God can always reveal our spiritual state to us. One can actually pray and ask God to search him or her through and through. Specific areas of personal evaluation include the following:
- Your level of obedience to God and righteous living.
You will definitely know anytime sin and any form of ungodliness is lurking within you. We should not accommodate sin at any time. The word of God must be indwelling in us if we must escape sin. The Bible records in _Psalm 119:11“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”_ Therefore, be deliberate to take sin out of your life consciously.
- Evaluate your prayer and study life.
There are obvious kingdom responsibilities that cannot be substituted. Your utmost growth in this kingdom is a function of your consistent adherence to kingdom practices. We are either growing spiritually or we are not. God will always help us in Jesus’ name. In a world of several distractions, we must be deliberate to say no to spiritual weakness and laxity. Apostle Paul remarked lovingly to his son Timothy in _2 Timothy 2:1 “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”_ He reiterated the same message to the church in Ephesus in _Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”_
In conclusion, don't just live a life without personal assessment. The will of God for us is the very best. His grace is sufficient for us to remain steadfast in Kingdom service.
*Declaration and Action:*
- In practical terms, evaluate your level of compliance with kingdom demands and responsibilities.
- I wholeheartedly ask for grace to keep pressing forward against all odds in Jesus’ name.
*Take Away: There is a need for me to continually evaluate myself against the backdrop of God’s word to ascertain if I am in compliance with God’s word.*
