CHILDREN'S DAY TO REMEMBER:

Learning the beauty of the Church through liturgy and faith. Our children dressed in different Church roles as a reminder to pray, serve, and grow in holiness—just like the Church teaches.
Indeed, Liturgical formation begins young.

Children’s Day Celebration | Catholic Diocese of Kano - HAPPY CHILREN's DAY:

The Catholic Diocese of Kano joyfully celebrated this year’s Children’s Day with a day programme that began with a Solemn Holy Mass at 9:00 a.m., officiated by the Bishop of Kano Diocese, Rt. Revd. Dr. John Namaza Niyiring, OSA.

The celebration continued with a parish-by-parish match past, featuring among others the talented Our Lady of Fatima School, Kano Band, and culminated in a grand reception filled with special performances and cultural displays presented by the children.

The event was graced by priests from different parishes within the Diocese and was coordinated under the Holy Childhood Association (PMS), directed by Rev. Fr. Mato Danlani. In a touching and memorable gesture, a group of pupils from Our Lady of Fatima dressed in the regalia of Bishop, Deacon, Priest, and Consecrated Sister, adding both colour and spiritual significance to the occasion.

The Directorate of Social Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Kano expresses sincere gratitude to God for every child in the Diocese, and prays that He bless, keep, and guide them, so that they may grow to become useful to their parents, the Church, and the world at large.

Pentecost Sunday 24th May, 2026.
Today the Church celebrates the great feast of Pentecost, which commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. The celebration took place at the Catholic Cathedral Our Lady of Fatima Sabon Gari Kano with many faithful in attendance.
The Holy Mass was presided over by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese Most Revd Dr John Namaza Niyiring OSA who also administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to the candidates prepared for the sacrament.
The bishop in his homily highlighted the following:
Firstly he congratulated the candidates present for confirmation.
306 candidates from various parishes within the diocese were confirmed. He pointed out the richness of the Pentecost events as reflected in transformation from fear to courage and timidity to boldness. Pentecost event restored the division of the human race which began at the tower of Babel. The Holy Spirit creates unity, reconciliation and peace. He also pointed out that the gift of the Holy Spirit are not given for selfishness but for service and no gift of the Holy Spirit is insignificant. The homilist also emphasis that peace is the first manifestation of the Holy Spirit because it reconciles us with God. In conclusion, he pointed out that many Christians today live behind locked doors of hopelessness and fear but today we are reminded that no door is closed to the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit can breakdown any barrier and pe*****te any closed door. He equally explained the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of every Christian. He encouraged the candidates to remain faithful to Christ and to become witnesses of the Gospel through good conduct, prayer, and service to humanity.
After the homily, the candidates renewed their baptismal promises before the bishop and the congregation. The bishop and the priests present stretched out their hands over them and prayed for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
One after another, the candidates approached the bishop, who anointed their foreheads with Sacred Chrism and said:
“Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Each candidate responded: “Amen.”
The celebration was joyful and spiritually uplifting. Family members, friends, priests, religious, and parishioners gathered to witness the occasion. The newly elected diocesan officials of the Catholic Men Organization of Nigeria (CMO) were also inaugurated within the mass and were encouraged to see their positions as an opportunity to serve God and humanity. The choir added beauty to the liturgy through hymns and songs of praise.
The Mass ended with the final blessing from the bishop, after which photographs were taken with the newly confirmed candidates and equally the CMO new officials.

ComWeek 2026 — DIOCESAN SEMINAR (Saturday 16, May 2026)
🎙️ Revd Fr Isiyaku Dauda
"Preserving the Voice of the Church in a Noisy World"
In a world drowning in competing narratives, algorithms, and agendas, Fr. Isiyaku issued a timely and urgent charge — the Church must not be drowned out. Her voice must rise above the noise — clear, bold, rooted, and unwavering. As Catholic communicators, we are the custodians of that voice. Let us never muffle it.

🎙️ Amb. Emmanuel Gabari
"The Danger of Fake News: Protecting Truth and Human Dignity"
Amb. Gabari pulled no punches — fake news is not merely a journalism problem, it is a moral and human dignity crisis. Every false story shared, every unverified claim amplified, has a real human cost. We were challenged to be communicators who treat truth as sacred and every person as deserving of dignity.

Revd Fr Isiyaku Dauda
"Preserving the Voice of the Church in a Noisy World"
— A timely reminder that amidst the chaos of competing voices, the Church's voice must remain clear, bold, and unwavering.

Amb. Emmanuel Gabari
"The Danger of Fake News: Protecting Truth and Human Dignity"
— A deeply eye-opening session that challenged us to be communicators who guard truth fiercely and honour the dignity of every human person.
Every word was a conviction. Every point was a charge. We left better equipped, more responsible, and more passionate about our calling as Communicators for Christ!

And the best is yet to come —
Tomorrow, Sunday 17th May 2026, we celebrate World Communications Sunday! 🌐✨ The grand culmination of everything ComWeek 2026 has been building toward. You do NOT want to miss it!
