*WEDNESDAY, 17 NOVEMBER 2021*
*TEXT: ZECHARIAH 2 : 5*
*TOPIC: GOD, THE WALL OF FIRE*

In ancient times, great nations were known for. the security offered by their fortified walls.

Also, any city that had no walls was seen as being weak and a disgrace to its people (Nehemiah 1:3).

In today's text, God is seen as the wall of fire' by only those who trust in Him.

Verse one of our text shows Zechariah's vision about a man with a measuring line.

Verse two gives thee measurement of Jerusalem while verse three tells about the first angel leaving and the coming of the second one with a message. In verse four, the angel tells Zechariah to "make haste" as Jerusalem had no walls while its population was growing.

The assurance of God's divine presence is given in verse five thus: "He will be a Wall of Fire and will be its glory"

This text gives us the assurance of God's divine presence, protection and guidance because only in Him can we find security.

_*QUESTION:* Do you know that God will be a wall of fire roundabout you if you trust Him?_

_*PRAYER:* Lord Jesus Christ, help me to trust You and to know that You will always be a wall of fire around me so that no evil will befall me, Amen._

*TODAY’S WORD🍞*
There was a man in the Scripture named Gideon whom GOD wanted to lead the people of Israel against an opposing army. The angel appeared to him and said, “Hello, Gideon, you mighty man of fearless courage,” I can imagine Gideon looking around thinking, Who is he talking to? Gideon was afraid, intimidated, and insecure. But notice that GOD didn’t call him what he was. GOD called him what he could become. GOD sees your potential. GOD knows what you’re capable of. You may feel weak, but GOD calls you strong. You may be intimidated today, but GOD calls you confident. You may feel less than, but GOD calls you well able. If the Angel of the *LORD* were to appear to you today, He would say the same thing he said to Gideon. “Hello, you mighty man, you mighty woman of fearless courage.”

Why don’t you get in agreement with GOD and start believing what He says about you?

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE📖*
There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the GOD who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day *CHRIST JESUS* appears.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of *JESUS CHRIST*.

*TODAY’S WORD🍞*
How you start is not important. Don’t let what you think is a disadvantage or a bad break cause you to say, “If I’d had a better childhood, if I had more support, if I didn’t have this dysfunction, I could do something great.” That’s where you started, but that’s not where you’re going to finish. The beginning doesn’t determine your destiny.

The apostle Paul did not say that God will bring you “to a defeated finish,” “an unfair finish,” “a lonely finish,” or a “bankrupt finish.” GOD has a victorious finish, an abundant finish, “a flourishing finish.” When those thoughts tell you, “It’s never going to work out. You have too many disadvantages,” let those lies go in one ear and out the other. GOD has established the end, and He loves to take people who start with the odds against them and shine down His favor, give them breaks, increase them, and cause them to do extraordinary things.

Very few people can look in the mirror and say, I am good. We think, Not me. I fall short. I struggle in areas. But when you say, I am good, it's not because of who you are; it's because of whose you are. You are a child of the Most High God. He handpicked you, breathed life into you, and crowned you with favor. Don't go around intimidated, insecure, feeling as though you don t measure up. Your performance doesn't determine who you are; your heavenly Father determines who you are. When you fall down and make mistakes, thoughts will whisper, Look at you! You're a hypocrite. Don't live with that heaviness. Just answer back, I may have fallen, but I got back up again. Hold your head up and feel good about who you are. You may not be where you want to be, but you're growing, improving, and coming up higher. Celebrate where you are. Thank GOD for where He's brought you so far.

*MEMORISE:*
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

*BIBLE READING: PSALM 119:10-12*
10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.

*MESSAGE:*
It is shocking how believers engage in all manner of conversations and associations carelessly. If you know the value of your heart, you would guard it jealously. In 2 Samuel 13 we see a classic case of what happens when a person does not guard his or her heart. Amnon who was prince and could have married any lady in the land lusted after his half-sister who was a virgin. He then engaged in a seemingly harmless conversation with a friend who watered the seed of evil already planted in his unguarded heart. The evil desire then blossomed and led to his untimely death in verses 28 and 29 of the same chapter. The man who advised him to r**e his sister is the same one who announced his death to David, his father (2 Samuel 13:32). Choose those you associate with wisely (Psalm 1:1).

Be careful of whom you listen to and be mindful of what you let into your heart. Jesus said in Matthew 5:8:

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."

If you allow impurities to dwell in your heart, forget about ever seeing God.

In Matthew 12:34, Jesus said:

"... for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."

In other words, your lifestyle and speech are an overflow of the meditation of your heart. Believers who listen to worldly music and also allow their children to listen to them are courting trouble. The result may not be instant, but it will accumulate and surely begin to yield ungodly fruits.

King David knew the secret to a clean heart, and he shared this in Psalm 119 :11:

If certain things in your life were just a little bit "better," would you be happy? A better job, a better house, better health, better relationships? The truth is, it only takes one thing for you to be happy. It takes a made-up mind. That's right, you have to decide that you are going to be happy regardless of your situation. You may have some obstacles to overcome, but don't let that steal your joy. Begin each day thinking of all the things you have to be thankful for. Decide each morning to declare as David did, "This is the day the *LORD* has made. I'm going to rejoice, and be glad in it." If you don't get happy where you are, you will never get to where GOD wants you to be. It all begins with a grateful attitude. Let us encourage you to be content no matter what your circumstances. When you have an attitude of gratitude, GOD will take you from victory to victory, and you'll live the abundant, joy-filled life He has in store for you.
