“Your child can recite everything… but understands nothing.”
In Nigeria today, 75% of children cannot read a simple sentence after years in school.
The problem isn’t laziness — it’s how we teach.
We are training memory, not thinking.

Nigeria, Our Enduring Hope at 64

Nigeria, land of rivers deep and skies so wide,
Where ancient mountains kiss the rising tide,
We stand as one, beneath the stars so bright,
In fields of green, where dreams take flight.

Though shadows fall and storms may rage,
We rise together, page by page.
In every tribe, in every voice,
We find our strength, we make our choice.

United by the love we share,
Through trials heavy, burdens rare,
The bond that ties us, unbroken still,
A nation's heart, an iron will.

From North to South, from East to West,
We fight for peace, we strive for rest.
In every color, in every creed,
We sow the future, we plant the seed.

Though wounds may linger, scars may show,
Through hope's pure light, we choose to grow.
For in our struggle, fierce and bold,
Lies a tale of courage yet untold.

Today, we march in voices clear,
A nation's cry, a will sincere.
For justice, for freedom, for truth we stand,
With peaceful steps, we reclaim our land.

Our protest echoes in the air,
A symbol of the love we bear.
Through streets we walk, with hearts of fire,
To lift our homeland ever higher.

So let us rise, with hands held high,
Our flag unfurls beneath the sky.
Nigeria, strong, Nigeria, free,
In unity, our destiny.

Through every challenge, every tear,
We find our voice, we lose our fear.
For in our hearts, forever true,
Nigeria, we believe in you.

WHEN CORRUPTION REIGNS

When corruption reigns, a nation is destroyed under criminal leadership.

In a nation blessed with abundant resources, it is often assumed that prosperity would follow naturally.

However, when a crafty criminal takes the helm of a country’s affairs, these resources can become tools of oppression rather than catalysts for growth. Corruption seeps into every corner of governance, and policies that should advance the people’s well-being are instead designed to benefit a few at the top. This creates a system where economic hardship prevails, not because of a lack of resources, but due to the mismanagement and greed of those in power.

One of the most devastating impacts of criminal leadership is the establishment of policies that favor personal gain over public good. Corrupt officials often manipulate laws to protect their own interests, passing regulations that make it easier for them to siphon national wealth into private accounts. These policies, typically veiled under the guise of "economic reforms" or "stabilization measures," often lead to the collapse of industries and the increase of poverty among the populace. The misallocation of resources deepens inequality, as wealth that should be invested in infrastructure, healthcare, or education is instead funneled into private ventures.

This environment of corruption stifles the efforts of rightful and diligent businesspeople who genuinely seek to contribute to national development. Entrepreneurs who attempt to operate within the bounds of the law find themselves at a disadvantage, as they face insurmountable barriers, including excessive taxation, and bureaucratic red tape.

On the other hand, corrupt businesses allied with the leadership flourish, benefiting from monopolies and contracts awarded through patronage. This creates a business climate where merit and hard work are often punished, while criminal collaboration is rewarded.

As corruption spreads, the average citizen bears the brunt of the economic collapse. Inflation soars as national wealth is drained, while basic goods become unaffordable to the general populace. Jobs become scarce, and unemployment rises as industries that should be thriving under responsible governance are instead mismanaged to the point of ruin. Even basic services such as power, water, and healthcare are compromised, leading to a diminished quality of life for millions. The suffering of the people becomes the price for the unchecked greed of the ruling class.

Ultimately, the tragedy of a nation under criminal leadership is that it squanders the potential of its people and resources. Despite the efforts of hard-working citizens and responsible business leaders who want to better the country, their contributions are stifled by a system designed to sustain corrupt power.

The challenge remains to break this cycle, demand accountability, and implement real reforms that prioritize national interests over personal gain. Until then, the nation will continue to suffer under the weight of its own untapped potential.

Hunger in Nigeria

A land of soil kissed by the sun,
Where rivers hum and harvests run,
Yet hunger stalks with empty hands,
In cities wide and desert sands.

The children cry, their voices thin,
Their bellies hollowed deep within,
While wealth sleeps in palaces high,
The common man left dry to die.

Grains that wither in the heat,
Markets are bare, no food to eat,
And mothers, strong, but weakened too,
Whisper prayers to skies of blue.

A land of oil, of gold, of green,
Yet hunger walks, unseen, unseen—
In slums, in farms, in fields of dust,
Where broken dreams and futures rust.

But still, we rise with hope anew,
For in our hearts, the skies are blue,
Nigeria, wake up, shake off the chains,
Of hunger’s grip, of silent pains.

Let the fields once dry bloom bold and bright,
And chase away the endless night,
For every child, and every son,
Deserves a meal beneath this sun.
