SUBJECT: OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: PASSING ON TO GLORY OF MR. GODFREY YAWE

The Catholic Curia of Kafanchan Diocese announces with deep sorrow, but with total submission to the Holy will of God, the sudden passing of Mr. Godfrey Yawe, the Diocesan Education Secretary. The sad event occurred at about 10:00 AM. after a brief illness.

The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan extends its heartfelt condolences to our Chief Shepherd, Most Rev. Julius Yakubu Kundi, the Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan, the entire Yawe family, and the members of the Diocesan Education Commission during this moment of grief.

We join in praying for comfort and fortitude for his family members and all those touched by his dedicated service to the Church's educational ministry.

Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

May his gentle soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace. Amen!

HOLY CHILDHOOD ASSOCIATION MARKS SILVER JUBILEE WITH NATIONAL CHILDREN'S CELEBRATION IN LAGOS

August 7, 2026

The Pontifical Mission Society's Holy Childhood Association concluded its Silver Jubilee celebration on Friday, August 7, 2026, after a week-long programme held in Lagos from Tuesday, August 4. The event brought together children from across Nigeria and other parts of the world in a joyful celebration of faith, friendship, and missionary commitment. The Catholic Diocese of Kafanhan was ably represented by the Diocesan coordinator of HCA Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Edeh, Sr. Edith Swati SOB and others.

Addressing the participants, the International Secretary General of the Holy Childhood Association, Sr. Ines Paolo Albino, urged the children to love one another, be charitable, trust in God and in themselves, and embrace the missionary spirit. She encouraged them to extend the message of Christ to children who are yet to belong to the association.

"Let your light continue to shine," she told the gathering. "I can already see future priests, religious, directors, and coordinators among you. The Church in Nigeria is truly growing."

Speaking on the theme, "We Are One in Christ," Sr. Albino reminded the children that although God created each person differently and blessed them with unique talents, they are united in Christ. She stressed that every child is valuable in the eyes of God and challenged them to use their gifts and abilities to build the Church and serve humanity.

She also had an interactive session with the PMS Directors, HCA Coordinators, with all the Priests and Religious present in where she thanked the Nigerian Church for her generosity in the missionary personnel she has been growing in the expansion of the mission of Christ. She however, noted poor financial contributions from some Diocese to the universal solidarity funds and challenged them to do more in this respect, since the Nigerian Church gains more from this.

The week-long celebration featured prayers, liturgical celebrations, cultural displays, missionary formation, interactive sessions, and recreational activities, giving the children memorable opportunities to deepen their faith as they build friendships across cultures.

The Silver Jubilee celebration ended on a joyful note with prayers for safe journey to all participants.

May God continue to protect our Children. Amen
