ZAKAT-UL-FITR (زكاة الفطر)
(Also known as Sadaqatul-Fitr)
Zakat-ul-Fitr is a compulsory charity given by Muslims at the end of the blessed month of Ramadan, before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer.

🌙 Meaning of Zakat-ul-Fitr
Zakat-ul-Fitr is prescribed to:
✅ Purify the fasting person from mistakes or shortcomings during fasting.
✅ Assist the poor and needy so they can celebrate Eid with joy and dignity.
It was made obligatory by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
---
✅ Who Must Pay It?
Zakat-ul-Fitr is wajib (obligatory) upon every Muslim who possesses more food or wealth than their basic needs on the day of Eid.
The head of the household should pay on behalf of:
• Himself/Herself

---
💰 Amount to Give
The standard amount equals one Ṣāʿ (approximately 2.5 – 3 kg) of staple food such as:

• Dates
👉 Many communities also allow payment in cash equivalent, according to local food prices and scholars’ guidance.
---
⏰ When to Pay
🕘 Best Time: Before leaving for Eid prayer.
📅 Permissible: 1–2 days before Eid.
