Subject: Christmas Message to Pastors and Leaders of COCIN
Dear Pastors and Leaders at all Levels of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN),
Grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you in this season as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
On behalf of the entire leadership of COCIN, I warmly wish all our members, pastors, and leaders across the various structures of the Church a peaceful and meaningful Christmas celebration. We give thanks to God for His faithfulness in preserving us as a people and as a Church.
At the same time, I wish to sound a word of pastoral caution and responsibility. In view of the prevailing security challenges in our nation, we must be vigilant and watchful. I have received disturbing information from Maiduguri concerning a bomb blast in a mosque, which reminds us that worship gatherings must be handled with wisdom and alertness.
So, I would strongly urge that every place of worship ensure adequate preparation for security consciousness and vigilance. Worship services should not be unnecessarily prolonged, and there must be a deliberate plan to avoid prolonged gatherings in one place without proper security measures. As we pray, we must also watch. Faith does not replace responsibility; rather, it guides us to act wisely.
My earnest prayer is that in every place of worship, the message of Christmas, the coming of Christ as the Prince of Peace, will be proclaimed with clarity and power. May peace and tranquillity reign in all our churches, and may the Lord Himself cover every congregation, pastor, leader, and member under His divine protection.
May the joy, hope, and peace of Christ fill your hearts and homes this Christmas and beyond.
Yours in His service,
Rev. Dr Amos M. Mohzo
President, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN)
