The vocation story of Rev. Fr. Joachim MAKAMA
Interviewed by Fr. Kuha INDYER, CSSp in Kaduna on the 10th of June, 2015

From the 8th to the 11th of June, 2015, a capacity building workshop was organized for education secretaries, directors and stakeholders in the Old Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province at the Social Centre, Kaduna. I attended the workshop as a stakeholder in education, being the principal of Holy Ghost College, Sankera, in Benue State. During a fraternizing period I discovered that our Co-MC had a story to tell. As a journalist I had to sit down and do some work. I felt it was a big story worthy of reading by Catholics. He was expelled from the seminary in 1994; a month to the end of his seminary studies, but ordained 18 years later. I thought his story is a story that can strengthen the faith of those who read it. I sought an audience with him during which he gladly told me his story for over three hours.

Fr. Kuha INDYER, CSSp (Fr. Indyer): Could you tell me a brief about yourself?

Fr. Joachim Danjuma MAKAMA (Fr. Makama): I was born in Minna, Niger State on the 31st day of May 1968 into the family of Mr. and Mrs. John Makama of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. I belong to the Atyap tribe. I enrolled into the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) Primary School Kano in the year 1974 and completed in 1980. I did my secondary school at St. Joseph’s Minor Seminary Zaria from 1981-1986 after which I proceeded to the then St. Augustine's Major Seminary, Makurdi Campus, for my spiritual year the same year. He was a pioneer member of our parish,one of its foundational members..he waited patiently for 18 years before His Grace,bishop Manoso Ndagoso was moved on compassionate grounds having reviewed his file,and ordained him almost 9 years ago...his last parish of assignment was at the Queens of Apostles Catholic Church Kakuri Kaduna, before he was transferred to Gumel to serve as the principal.. A very intelligent teacher with great Oratorical skills,he spent all his years in limbo teaching at the our lady of Fatima girls secondary school Kaduna, and made great impacts there...his last Archdiocesan function was at the burial of the late bishop emeritus of Kaduna Catholic Archdiocese.. Late Bishop Peter Yariock Jatau..where his in depth hausa translation of the homilies left everyone in awe and dumbstruck,now he has joined him..he will surely be missed...Oh death....shame on you...where is thy sting?

JOIN US ON THE 5Th of November at the Basilica of St Dominics Catholic Church Ungwan Pama...as 7 deacons shall be ordained Catholic Priests of the Holy Mother Church in the order of Melchizedek... I am so excited,these are folks we knew as kids...little mass servers just yesterday... to God be the Glory.....lived...live..and shall die a Catholic....

Breaking News....
Some bunch of criminals have decided to unleash the wrath of God on their lives,the go about duping folks,pretending to be from our immediate past parish priest Rev Fr Omachi Michael Arome,telling them to pay for delivery of whatever goods he is sending from America... Beware...nothing like that exists...Rev Fr Omachi Michael has not,is not,and will not ask such from anyone....please help us shame them by sharing this... They are also using Fev Fr Abutu's name too...

we lost a wonderful parishioner... He was a Strong pillar of our community, touching many lives Spiritually and Materially..Late Brother Joseph Ishaya...(56years)..
Wake Keep mass..Thursday 6th 2020 at the church by 4:30 Pm...
Body leaves for burial to his village on Friday.....may his gentle soul rest in Peace....

FROM THE DESK OF THE ASSOCIATE PRIEST ST. DOMINIC PARISH UNG. PAMA
The Easter celebration cannot be postponed. It would celebrated with an adapted rite for the ceremonies. Private ceremony for palm sunday is scheduled for 5.30am prompt with the blessing of the palm branches and will distributed to zonal centers by zonal coordinator. Parishioners are encouraged to pick up these branches from the nearest zones for each household. A few branches would be made available in the parish for those who may prefer to pick them from the parish later in the day. May the grace of this season never pass you bye amen.
