*IFTAR DIGEST 2025 – DAY 9*

*REFLECTING ON SURAH AL-FATIHA – THE ESSENCE OF THE QURAN*

Alhamdulillah! As we journey through this blessed month of Ramadan, today we turn our attention to Surah Al-Fatiha, the opening chapter of the Quran and its great essence. Known as Ummul Kitab (the Mother of the Book), this Surah encapsulates the core message of the Quran and serves as a spiritual anchor for every believer.

In Surah Al-Hijr (15:87), Allah says:

*وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰكَ سَبۡعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِی وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِیمَ*

*"And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], the seven oft-repeated verses and the great Quran."*

This verse highlights the significance of Surah Al-Fatiha, which is described as the "seven oft-repeated verses." It is a Surah recited in every Raka'ah of Prayer, making it a constant companion in our daily worship.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنۡ لَمۡ یَقۡرَأۡ بِفَاتِحَةِ ٱلۡكِتَابِ

*"There is no prayer for the one who does not recite the Opening of the Book (Surah Al-Fatiha)." (Sahih Bukhari)*

This hadith underlines the centrality of Surah Al-Fatiha in our Prayer. It is not merely a recitation but a conversation with Allah, where we praise Him, seek His guidance, and ask for His mercy.

Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said:

*"While Jibril (Gabriel) was sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ), he heard a sound above him and raised his head. He said, ‘This is a gate in the heaven which has been opened today, and it has never been opened before. An angel has descended through it.’ The angel said, ‘Receive the glad tidings of two lights which have been given to you and no Prophet before you: the Opening of the Book (Surah Al-Fatiha) and the concluding verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. You will never recite a letter of them without being granted its reward.’"*

This narration highlights the unique status of Surah Al-Fatiha as a divine gift to the Ummah. It is a source of immense reward and a means of connecting with Allah.

Surah Al-Fatiha is a

The Greatest test of Faith is when you do not get what you want. But still you are able to say Alhamdulillah Rabbil 'Alamiin.
Yaa Allaah! Be sufficient for us, increase our IMAAN and TAQWA, lead us to the right path and forgive us and our parents, accept our Iba'adah and Supplication beyond our expectations,Aamiin Yaa Rabbal 'Alamiin. Ramadhan kareem

Allahumma ma zawayta 'anni mimma uhibb, faj 'alhu li faraaghan fimatuhibb". O Allaah! I ask You for Your love and the love of the one whose love benefits me with You. O Allaah! Whatever You have bestowed upon me of what i love, let it be strength for me in what You love. O Allaah! Whatever You withhold from me of what i love, let it be a void(to be filled) with what You love, Aamiin, Aamiin, Aamiin Yaa Rabbal 'Alamiin.

Sincerity is the essence of our faith. Sincerity is our complete wholesome way of living. It is the rule upon which all our life is built, the truth that should be settled in our hearts and souls and reflected in each and every deed we perform, be it a wordly matter or an act of worship.
The fruits of sincerity are not restricted to the hereafter since a person's sincerity affects his or her current life as well as the life after death. Sincerity and integrity are required to straighten out wordly matters. Sincerity is a prerequisite for justice to prevailing for corruption to end. Life decays without sincerity because in its absence, hypocrisy, materialism and selfishness will flourish.
Sincerity is a result of the tru faith abd submissiveness to Allah azzuwajal, and this is so clear in the first chapter of quran

Surah fatiha vs 5:
"Iyyaa kana'abudu waiyyakanastain"
(You [Allah, alone] we worship, and You [alone] we ask for help)

We are ordered to repeat this chapter at least seventeen times each day in our five obligatory prayers.

All Praises are due Only to Allah (Mighty and Sublime be He), the Creator of Time, the Sustainer of our lives, the Lord of the exalted throne.

Ya Rabbil ‘Alameen! Bless our master Prophet Muhammad (SAW), according to the number of Allah’s perfection, and as much as there is in the knowledge of Allah.

Ya hayyu ya qay’yuum: On this blessed day (and always), may You shine Your light on us during our darkest hours and relieve our fears and anxieties. Guide us in our journey to healing and recovery. Grant us patience and wisdom that we so badly need. Remind us constantly that we never have to walk alone!

Ya dhal’jalaali wal-ikram! Grant us dedication like Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in pursuit of deepening our connection with You. O King of the Kings! Bless us with Sabr and make us victorious in Your tests. We ask you of the courage like Ismael (AS) to stand our ground in the face of adversities

Ya Samee’! Give us the will and energy to shatter our limiting beliefs and break apart the blocks keeping us disconnected from You; and let us enter Your Jannatul Firdausi without hisab, Ya Allah, Ya Hasib.
Ya Allah, Ya Nur! Grant us and our descendants light upon light, the basirah to pick good over evil, and the ability to pick akhirah over dunya.

Aameen Thumma Aameen.
Juma’at Mubarak to the entire Muslim Ummah
