THE SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Today, the Church celebrates one of the great mysteries of our faith: the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. The Church teaches that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory.

MEMORIAL OF SAINT MAXIMILIAN MARY KOLBE

Today, the Church celebrates Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a priest and martyr who gave his life for another prisoner in Auschwitz during the Second World War. His life gives us a powerful example of what it means to love when love becomes difficult.

Today, the Church celebrates Saint Clare of Assisi, a woman who understood the meaning of humility, simplicity, prayer, and complete trust in God.

FEAST OF SAINT LAWRENCE (DEACON AND MARTYR)

Today the Church celebrates Saint Lawrence (Deacon and Martyr). Saint Lawrence was a servant of the Church in Rome. He cared for the poor and served the Christian community. When persecution came, he remained faithful to Christ and gave his life for the Gospel.

MEMORIAL OF SAINT JOHN MARY VIANNEY

Today, the Church celebrates the Memorial of Saint John Mary Vianney, popularly known as the Curé of Ars. He was a simple parish priest in France who was not famous because of wealth, education, or worldly achievements. He became a saint because of his deep love for God, his tireless service to God's people, his long hours in the confessional, and his holy example.
