*(2003) From The Eyes of Heaven*(1).

I sure wanted to write about this Gedionic encounter, but the title is not original with me. While meditating on the Scripture, I was watching a children's Bible video animation on the great Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, under the leadership of Moses, assisted by his elder siblings, Miriam and Aaron.

It was in the course of the "movie" that I heard this beautiful phrase that forms our topic this day. _From the eyes of heaven._

The land of Israel was in great distress, largely as a result of their unconfessed sinful nature! And they had become virtual slaves, to foreigners, in their own country! When great men, like Gideon, had to be pounding "yam" under the bed to hide it from the Midianites, you know the situation was unbearable! Just read the entire chapter six of Judges and see it for yourself.

The great thing about our God is that, His.anger does not last forever!

Psalms 103:9 says:

_He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever._

So, despite their sinful behaviour, when they called upon Him, He sent them a "deliverer" in the person of Gideon; even though he did not believe that he was one!

In those days, for God to deliver your nation from the siege or attack of another, you had to also go to battle physically and in some cases, even kill the attackers and plunder them silly!

When God addressed Gideon as a "mighty man of valor", our future-commander of the undefeated Israeli army, objected! But God stood His ground, because, it was a verdict _from the eyes of heaven._

I bet, if the heavenly "generals" set aside to accomplish great and mighty things for God, are to be numbered, perhaps just no one would remember or call your name, let alone choose you...or worse yet, you may be "hiding"! from the parade. But hear me and hear me well...or hear God and hear Him well. Your worth to God is not measured in the yes of humans, nor their set of judgements....your worth viewed _from the eyes of heaven_ is far beyond your imagination, simply because God is with you!

And once you are assured of His Presence with you, then you are a mighty man/woman of valor...viewed _from the eyes of heaven!_

You are blessed going out, you are blessed coming in.

*(2002) It Still Depends on Him*

_And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?_ *(Acts 3:12).*

With such dramatic healing of this lame man, those who witnessed it, rightly looked to Peter and John, supposing that they were super-human to have been able to accomplish such a feat!

And yes, this was a supernatural miracle and those unaware of how God does such things, expectedly looked to the apostles for the way of this ability. Been Israelites themselves, some would imagine that they been religious too, should have also produced similar results, hence they considered Peter and John as directly responsible?

Yes, these were "holy* men. Yes, they were popularly known to have been with Jesus, and still preaching His Word; the manifestation of this miracle was not based on them nor their qualifications. It was still dependent on God's power to save and to heal, preached, received and believed!

Whereas it is required of us to continue to live the life of holiness and clear identity with Jesus Christ, the working of miracles is still His prerogative, as we pray and seek His intervention(s).

Been that it is dependent on Him, every child of God can call upon Him for such supernatural intervention(s) when faced with same or similar situations. The Biblical requirement is for us to live by and stand in faith, and the miraculous remains possible with His interventions, every now and again, when we call upon Him for same.

Like Peter and John rightly pointed to Jesus, as The Source of and demonstration of the supernatural healing before the people, we must be mindful to return all the glory to Him, as it still depends on Him!

You are blessed in obedience to His Word.

*(2001) How Did That Happen?(3).*

_Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die_ *(Job 2:9).*

Job had only one wife, before and after we meet him with this terrible affliction that came upon him, because God boasted of his righteousness and permitted the devil to test him!

And we do not read of her unrighteousness anywhere; not before, and not after Job's dreaded affliction! So, we just conclude that she was following her husband in his dedication to God along with their children. So what went wrong? How come she was not encouraging her husband, but demanding he cursed God and die, instead? How did that happen?

Certainly, we know not much about Mrs Job, but her proposed answer to the puzzle that they all had at this time, is amazing, yet not strange...to some extent!

The other day, I heard a preacher shouting over the television that, "there is no love without money"! His claim was that, for may women (or men), there is love until there is a need...then out the window would fly the romance of yore! He claimed that he was "naive" in thinking that because he loved his wife, that was enough, until "poverty" taught him such a lesson; which drove him out to search for the money, he believed that would make his wife continue loving him!

Well, I don't know his wife, neither do I know that he was so "righteous" before or after his "money-love" experience for God to boast about him? To suggest that Mrs Job would abandon ship, when her husband needed.her.most, but rather opt for Job to commit sacrilege and he killed (while she would remain alive), would certainly remain one of the unsolved riddles of the Old Testament. After all, we have very little focus on her in the this supposedly first book of the Old Testament!

Job's rebuke, (though technically incorrect, since the devil was directly responsible for such affliction on Job), helps us a little with some insight:

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

_Even though his assertion was it right about reviving "evil" from God at that time (whereas the actual culprit of the suffering was the enemy), it shukdnhwlp us to align with God, despite the troubling and shaking that has and may come to many people_ (Job 2:10).

Let us not become "foolish" or "like" fools, because we have come into situations unpalatable, yet unexplained. God is more than mammon (money). God is more than material things. Our God is more than prosperity and the riches of this world. And our service to Him, must not be based on whether or not we have lost our jobs, loved ones, businesses or any other losses that may have occured in life. Let not our service be linked to materialism ONLY!

1 Timothy 6:6-10, says:

_But godliness with contentment is great gain._ 7 _For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out._ 8 _And having food and raiment let us be therewith content._ 9 _But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition._ 10 _For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows._

Everyone needs money, and everyone should have (some) money. But the insatiable quest to grab everything of this world (which we shall soon leave behind, if Jesus tarries), would make one behave like a fool, posing to lose eternity on the altar of the temporal comfort!

When the Apostle Paul enjoined his son Timothy to preach the Word in season and out of season in 2 Timothy 4:2:

_Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine;_

I believe we can safely conclude that, we have to equally serve God in "season" and "out of season" of riches or any form of comfort!

You are blessed going out, you are blessed coming in.

*(2000) How Did That Happen?(2).*

_Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve_ *(Luke 22:3).*

There are challenging events in Scripture that make us interrogate some situations for clarity on our side, by The Holy Spirit, enabling us avoid the obvious and subtle pitfalls presented in such texts.

Now, it is necessary to state here that Satan does not "enter" people randomly. If he had that kind of power, not a single soul on earth would have been sparred his evil workings. Jesus stated something similar to that effect, which can give us a hint as to why the devil does not "enter" or "possess" people randomly.

John 14:30

_Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me._

The efforts of the enemy to distract, stop or kill The Saviour, began right from the time Jesus was born, as per the slaughter of all infants two years and younger, by king Herod (Matthew 2:16).

Something has to attract the enemy to take up such position in anybody's conscious life. And for Judas, see something that may be a part of his "invitation" to the devil in John 12:4- 6:

_Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,_ 5 _Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?_ 6 _This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein._

He was what we can term the "Treasurer" in the ministry of Jesus. Nothing wrong with that. What was the trouble is the fact that he used to help himself with the funds; without permission, nor a formal request. That would make anyone a thief, as rightly described here by The Bible.

You ask yourself, how did that happen? How could Judas be one of the twelve disciples that Jesus chose and he agreed to follow; who would follow, hearing all the preachings and teachings, while watching the miracles, turn around and betray the Master? _How did that happen?_

We can pick a few instances that give us a clue as to what may have been at least partly responsible for such dramatic failure!

One of those must surely be his _greed._ He was never satisfied with whatever was his legitimate entitlement, hence taking out of the bag, what did not rightly belong to him!

We can also see _covetousness_ at work in his case. He thought what was given to Jesus (or the ministry), was too "expensive"; considering it a "waste". To him, expensive gifts and such unusual sacrifices do not have a place in the Gospel? Such thoughts and attitudes from any man, especially those following Jesus, can lead to disastrous outcomes in their walk with The Master.

We can add some more reasons; like hobnobbing with those who sought to kill Jesus and in the process negotiating with them and such like.

When someone walked that closely to and with Jesus, as Judas did, and ends up the way Judas did, it is certainly not because God's power is unable to help them, nor the devil too powerful, but for the traits of greed, coverteousness, evil company and such behaviours that can be observed in such lives, running contrary to the wholesome Biblical teachings.

You are blessed in obedience to His Word.

(1999) How Did That Happen?(1)

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet (2 Kings 13:21).

Incredible, that the body of a dead mon touches the dead bones of another dead man, and stood upright? That's a first-class miracle, whoever school you take it to. How did that happen?

You would think am bugged by how the dead body of this unnamed man got up after touching the dead bones of the late prophet in Israel? Yes, that may be intriguing, but what baffles me is that, if the late prophet carried such anointing in dead bodies, how much more when he was physically alive, and how blessed those who touch him would be. Trouble is, Gehazi, who served this prophet ended up with leprosy, rather than a transferred amounting! How did that happen?

In 2Kings 2:9, we read:

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

One would then expect that Gaheazi would carry the four-times Elijah's anointing? But alas, he fell victim of that dreaded disease in Israel, linked with sin - leprosy!

How did that happen?

Do you see people sit under an anointed person and ministry, hear the word, experience the power of God and simply turn "leprous"!

You should have to check what they are _asking_ and _seeking_ for! Elisha sought a double portion of the anointing, but Gehazi got a _double portion_ of the goods he lied to get from Naaman! See 2 Kings 5:22, 23:

_And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments._ 23 _And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him._

How did that happen?

Proximity to the genuine anointing does not guarantee a "photocopy" of the "original"; but for personal choices and actions.

You are blessed in obedience to His Word.

*(1997) Universal Grace*

_Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner_ . *(Luke 7:39).*

In the course of ministry, I have seen many: former prostitutes, robbers, murderers, financial criminals, forgers and exam cheats...you name them; converted through our Gospel outreaches and through other ministers or ministries. The (genuine) stories are diverse, but similar in content.

There was an old life, that felt like the real life, until the conviction of The Holy Spirit after encountering Jesus' message of love and sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. Then, a conviction and subsequent repentance to follow Him, thereafter, bringing a new life.

That is a discernible universal route. It is the same to people with diverse backgrounds and levels of accomplishment.

But while this is what Jesus seeks to have all (living) humans experience, there are (as they were), people who think others do not deserve this offer of _universal Grace_ leading to salvation! They imagine that some people (or some sins) are too evil to be forgiven and associated with Christ!

That was the experience of the Jews in our reading today. They knew Jesus to be from God, and wondered why He would allow an openly-known sinful woman to touch Him, in the manner she was wiping His feet with her hair!

However, the Scriptures say in Romans 5:20:

_Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:_

In whatever state, background, nation or previous religion, there is provision with Jesus for the forgiveness of any repentant sinner and acceptance into fellowship with The Living God.

His _grace is universal,_ and we stand for and proclaim same today as Jesus did and as the Bible teaches in Acts 10:34,35:

_Then Peter opened his lmouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:_ 35 _But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him._

His _grace is universal,_ both in location and level of rebellion, prior to meeting Him.

You are blessed in obedience to His Word.

*(1996) Sufficient Grace*

_And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me_ *(2 Corinthians 12:9).*

Jesus calls us "friends" as recorded in John 15:15:

_Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you._

And we know that He is not a "fair-weather friend" or someone who only tags along when the going is "good"! He remains our Saviour and Friend, despite the turmoil, much of the world faces today!

When the Apostle Paul had a "thorn" in the flesh, and three times sought it's removal through prayer, The Lord told him that he was still under _sufficient grace._

His grace remains extended to us, not because of perfect working conditions or our moral code, but because of who He is. He has declared and remains our Friend, even when turbulence razes in the economy, politics or even religious circles. For His friendship with the repentant sinner is not judged by the standards of this world, but by His faithfulness to His covenant.

We used to hear a lot preached back then that "inflation has not changed the wages of sin...it remains death..."; even so, the turbulence of our social systems and challenging living environments have not changed His love, as He remains our Friend, with _sufficient grace,_ even in times like this!

Our God may not be viewed in the prism of callous leaders and heartless operators of the economy of ours and many nations of the world. He loves us, irrespective and remains so, whatever the season we face. His grace is sufficient.

You are blessed with your household!

*(1995) Brought Out To Receive*

_And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it_ *(Genesis 15:7).*

That is the nature of our God. He identifies us in our state, reveals Himself and brings out of our sinful and challenging state(s) in order to give...to bestow life and goodness.

When The Lord had the conversation with Abraham, it is worth noting what the trajectory of his redemption was: (1) a call and positive response (2) pull to leave the former state to enter a new one (3) be given a new life, complete with it's benefits. See

Genesis 12:1-4

_Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:_ 2 _And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:_ 3 _And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed_ . 4 _So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran._

Answering to the call of God never leaves one in his/her old ways or in a worst state. One would not answer to God's call and remain like a defeated or captured individual. Once we have answered positively to His voice, He has made provision not only for eternal life, but a better version of our lives lived here on earth!

It is not true that answering to the call of God leaves anyone worse-off in this life and the life to come!

We can always call the bluff of the enemy in comparing things incomparable: where we were and where we are today.

It is like Jesus Himself who called the disciples from their past; promising to give them a better life here and in the world to come, life everlasting:

_And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men_ (Matthew 4:19).

And Mark 10:30:

_But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life._

By the nature elof our God, we are bold to say that He brought us out, to receive. He brought us out, to be better, not worst-off; both in this world and the one to come.

You are blessed in obedience to His Word.

*(1994) Stay Connected*

_Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching_ *(Hebrews 10:25).*

I was told the story of an uneducated man, whom those that knew him claimed he was a wicked man. He was known to cause fights between people and seek their downfall, as often as he could.

When I asked how he was able to do that, was told that himself claimed the use of what he termed his _strategy._ According to him, whenever he set out to bring harm to anyone, he would first identify the person close to them, who would rise up in their defence, if things were to happen to them. Then, he would do all in his capacity to bring irreconcilable differences between them. Once they pulled apart because of such charged disagreements, he would then "strike" at his initial target, knowing by that time that, they had already become enemies with the very person meant to come to their aid!

Whether or not this was always a successful ploy is not the issue person se, but to have him confess to such activity was significant.

Our Scripture today points to something similar; to keep a believer away from close fellowship with other believers, and then _strike,_ when they are standing alone, with less resistance, than otherwise!

Today, it is easier, by far to find many comparative reasons to miss the fellowship with one another, as was already a common feature with "some" at the beginning of the church era.

There are many options for staying in touch today, and rather than pull away one from another, we can rather take advantage of every opportunity, _to stay connected. People can connect remotely or physically; but there must be that effort to stay in contact with one another; not just for our sake, but to be used by God to touch others in our circles.

You can either be receiving or giving-out, as applicable, making the Body stronger.

Whatever then seeks to keep us away from regular fellowship with other believers, is the real enemy; however noble it may present itself and mission! Our call is to _remain connected._

You are blessed going out, you are blessed, coming in.

*(1993) Everything Has Ears*

_For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith_ *(Mark 11:23).*

Most of us will remember this Scripture as the favourite of late Kenneth Hagin, snr. You could hardly read any of his writings without a mention of same, and the accompanying testimonies of what God did and continued to do throughout his life on earth.

This was the teaching of Jesus to the disciples after the famous "cursing" of the fig tree, whom He had expected to find fruitful; but was only full of leaves!

This truth has been applied and experienced by several children of God over the years. And it has proven just as potent as Jesus spoke.

Why speak to the "mountain" or the "fig tree" or any inanimate thing for that matter? The reason is simple, spiritually, _everything has ears_ - and they can hear...and obey commands!

I have seen this play out on many occasions in Gospel outreaches. Sometimes, vehicles, media or musical equipment may simply malfunction or cease to work, at the most critical moments of the delivery of the Word of God for salvation. While the fit and proper equipment must be deployed for the work of the Kingdom, never underestimate the interest of the enemy in distracting of discouraging the manifestations of the power of God.

If you have done what you should legitimately do, and yet continue to have stubborn frustration with what should work well, by now; invoke the authority to address the "mountain"!

There are reports of vehicles responding positively, which consistently refused to function despite fit and proper repairs, by such address through prayers!

Recently, we had a ministry meeting. The equipment were working fine, till the middle of the event, when the sound system wouldn't just respond to anything! The technical team replaced some of the suspected equipment with spare ones, to no avail! L

Finally, it downed on me to address the "mountain(s)". And I came to the stage, telling the people to join in the prayer, to rebuke the distraction and have them working, since the equipment were fit and! A moment after that brief prayer, the system worked perfectly, till the end of the meeting!

We don't carry faulty equipment or vehicles around praying for them to function! Neither are we called to set up shop, praying for malfunctioning equipment, all over.

But, when you are engaged with obeying God in service, (by whichever way), you can address the "mountain"! For _everything has ears_ - and can hear and obey!

*(1992) The Devil's In The Dark*

_Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory_ *(1 Corinthians 2:8).*

For the obsession of many with the devil's schemes, you would be forgiven to imagine that he has knowledge of everything! But that is not the case presented in the Bible. Only our God knows everything ahead of time (Omniscience).

_But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:_ (1 Corinthians 2:7).

The wisdom of God...His eternal plans regarding Jesus, were not fully open to the devil. He knew some of the things around the Saviour, hence his desperate efforts, like instigating the slaughter of infants, who were born about the time of Jesus, thinking to prevent the emergence of the Saviour! But _the_ _devil is in the dark,_ as God had already orchestrated Christ's escape before that horrible massacre took place!(see Matthew 2:16-18).

In a similar vein, nailing Jesus to the cross, was in the eye of the devil, putting an end to His mission on earth; not knowing that it was indeed all in line with His call to rise again from the dead, defeating death and all the manifestation(s) of the evil one, over us!

_The devil is in the dark!_

Whoever knew that keeping Paul in prison, will deliver to us today, one third of the written New Testament Scripture today? When it looked like Saul was silenced, he spoke even louder and far longer (through his inspired letters that we still read today)!

Feeling "boxed-in" by the antics or activities of the evil one? Reach out to what the Scriptures hold and stick your neck out again, knowing that _the devil is in the dark,_ regarding the details of your future and the success thereof.

They would not have sold Joseph, thinking to deal a death blow to him and his dreams, if not that the devil was in the dark as to the eternal plans of God, The Father, regarding the promotions of this young and faithful servant.

Different story today? No. The pressure(s) may all look and feel quite intensive; but it is Scriptural: _the devil is in the dark_ about your divinely defined future, which he cannot truncate, by the grace of Him who loved and died for us.

Jeremiah 29:11:

_For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end._

The intricate details of your future and the success thereof, are known only to our God, as _the devil's in the dark_ regarding them...and remains so!

*(1991) Before Pulling Down*

_And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods_ *(Luke 12:18).*

Before sharing my thoughts on our foundation Scripture today, let me state ahead of time:
* This is a parable and cannot always be open to deep scrutiny in every detail
* It is clear that the main lesson was about ignoring God and eternity in one's plans in pursuit of materialism.

Now, let me share what else I see in this parable recorded in the book of Luke 12:16-21.

Again, it is to be stated that God is not against planning. He is against planning without Him, which was the bane of this fellow. However, in almost every translations of verse 18, he talks about "pulling (or tearing) down" his old barns to build new ones! Is there anything wrong with that? Maybe not. But consider this:

I know of a man who lived relatively peacefully with his wife and children. He was a farmer, along with his family. One day, a construction company came along to execute a big contract in that community and he got engaged as a labourer along with many other unskilled workers.

It was the first time he was handling relatively "large" sums of money, in comparison to his meagre farm produce, which had mainly being subsistent.

Immediately, he developed a unending quarrel with his wife, abandoned her, and married a much younger woman! He "pulled down" his first marriage and "built" a new one! Sadly, not long after that, he passed away!

It is something we can see in other areas of human endeavour. When businesses expand, may it not be better to expand the capacity of those who hitherto have worked to bring it to what it is, rather than replace them with "new" ones? Is it not better to train those who have laboured with you over the years, than simply "replacing" them with newer, better-trained people?

Historians and other researchers have linked incessant violence in some communities with rich natural resources including agricultural potentials. It is as though the people who previously lived in such areas should be "uprooted" (or pulled down), and other preferred people take over such lands and areas?

I just wonder that, the existing "barns" which had built the reputation of this rich man over the years, were going to be "pulled down" to give way to a "new" set of barns? In the eyes of God, that certainly would be injustice, when the existing "barns" had done nothing wrong!

So, besides refusing to acknowledge God in one's earthly promotions, it may also be important that there is a "re-enforcement" or "expansion" of the capacity of the existing faithful, rather than seeking replacement entirely or "pulling down"! After all, the Bible says the husbandman, must first be partaker of the fruits (2 Timothy 2:6).

You are blessed going out, you are blessed coming in.
