Mark 10:29-30
Welcome to Golden Scepter Morning Glory! Today, we are filled with joy and excitement as we celebrate The Holy Week. We witnessed Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem yesterday, with people all around shouting, dancing, and singing "Hosanna!" The last week of Jesus' life was a time of great significance, and many events took place during this period.
Jesus recognized that his disciples still had priorities and values in their lives that did not align with Kingdom values and priorities, just like in our days today. The prevailing philosophy of today is that if you are favored by God, you will be blessed financially. Therefore, there is always great value placed on wealth, and it is believed that anyone wealthy must be in very good favor with God. However, in the Values of the kingdom, God values Sacrifice, not wealth.
One commonly held belief among the disciples of Jesus was that, as the Messiah, he would establish a physical kingdom on earth and liberate them from the Roman occupation. When James and John overheard Jesus discussing the events in Jerusalem that would soon unfold, they saw an opportunity to request a favor, assuming that Jesus would soon fulfill their expectations. However, it is crucial to remember that while we may place value on positions, God places the greatest value on servanthood.
PRAYER: my Father grant me the wisdom to prioritize the values of the kingdom by opening the eyes of my understanding. Let me be confident to align my priorities with the divine principles of the higher purpose.
