(GIRL'S BRIGADE DAY)

Preacher: Rev Mrs Chundung Joseph Tyos

Topic: Service

Text: Ephesians 4:10-14

*This letter from apostle Paul, was to strengthen the believers in Ephesus in their Christian faith. It was to encourage them in faith while he was in prison.

*Service: Is an event in which an entity takes the responsibility and act in place of another entity or individual.

* Jesus ,the same that descended and also ascended, gave diverse gifts to His church. Without a gift,it's difficult to render service in the body of Christ. Anyone who does not know His or her gift ,must go back to God in pray to know the gift he or she has.
* The knowledge of Christ and the power of His resurrection, helps us render acceptable service to Christ and His church.
* Gifts are different from talents . One may be talented but does not know Christ.

*What service are we rendering for the salvation of these young ones(Girls Brigade),our husbands and wives? Let's reflect deep and allow God to use us for His service.

4TH MAY,2025.

Preacher: Rev Tyos Davou Joseph(leading pastor)

Text:Matthew 16:23-28

Sub-Theme(2nd quarter):Conditions for knowing Christ...

*CONDITION: is a situation that must exist before something happens or become possible.

*We thoroughly studied on our theme with the Sub-Theme:Jesus ,our focus...in the first quarter. We saw Jesus as a healer,a savior ,etc... let's refresh our minds on what we have learned and it will greatly enhance our teaching on this new theme.

*We must be prepared ,ready to know more about Jesus. These conditions for knowing Christ are key in helping us come to the full knowledge of Jesus Christ ...

Q: who are you to your leader? Are you supporting your leader ?what is your leader saying about you? These questions and answers will form the basis for our discussion today in verse 24.

1. Denying yourself
2. Carry or take up your cross and;
3. Follow Jesus

*Denying ourselves involves not only considering ourselves alone, not just doing what will be to our benefit alone. It simply means saying no to yourself and saying ,yes to Jesus...we must refuse those things that are only for our pleasure alone and obeying Jesus completely...

*Taking up of one's cross signifies sacrifice. It implies sufferings and unpleasant situations that we must endure as believers. Jesus has not promised us free trouble life here on earth, but he told us ,we will be hated for His name sake as such we must be ready to endure to the end.

*Following Jesus,it's key that we embibe or emulate Jesus Christ as we aspire to be like Him.

Remained blessed and rapturable ....

*TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:20-24*

20. _But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep._
21. _For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man._
22. _For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive._
23. _But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him._
24. _Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power._

*TOPIC: FIRST FRUIT FROM THE DEAD*

The first Adam was made from earth and brought death, but Jesus came from heaven and brought life. Through Adam, men die naturally, but in Christ, every believer lives. Jesus resurrected from the dead - the first fruit from the dead. So, the dead in Christ shall resurrect by his power (Jn. 11:25). Being the first fruit of those that slept, Christ shall present believers to the Father when Satan's dominion is destroyed. At the resurrection, believers shall rise to eternal glory while unbelievers to eternal damnation. Are you in Christ? Which destination will you rise to? Your lifestyle determines your destiny, heaven or hell (Rev. 21:3, 8). Jesus has opened the way to the Father through his resurrection. Accept him today!

*REFLECTION:* _Be in right standing with Jesus._

*PRAYER:* _Victorious Jesus, I worship you. Amen._

*TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 1:18-25*

18. _For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God._
19. _For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."_
20. _Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?_
21. _For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe._
22. _Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,_
23. _but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,_
24. _but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God._
25. _For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength._

*TOPIC: CROSS, THE POWER OF GOD*

The cross reveals the power of God to save. Those who look at the cross from a human point of view rather than God's are fools and will soon perish. The wisdom of the wise, scholars and that of philosophers of this world cannot save. Salvation is only found in Christ Jesus, who is the power and wisdom of God. God allowed His begotten Son to go through a shameful and weakest form of death, to disgrace the nobles. Paul understood this power when he encountered the resurrected Christ on his way to Damascus. He remained firm and never drifted from the faith. In the same way, the cross can transform any hardened criminal, if he believes in Jesus. Have you encountered Jesus? If not, invite him into your life now.

*REFLECTION:* _The arm of flesh is powerless to save._

*PRAYER:* _Lord, help me to grasp the power of the cross. Amen._

*TEXT: ACTS 17:11-12*

11. _Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true._
12. _As a result, many of them believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men._

*TOPIC: A YEARNING FOR KNOWLEDGE*

Reading culture is fast eroding in our society today. One of the indices of growth in knowledge of Christ is the study of the word of God. The Berean believers were commended for their eagerness in receiving the gospel message and their diligence in studying the word of God. Their open-mindedness and willingness to investigate the truth paved the way for a fruitful ministry. The church has thoughtfully provided means of studying God's word for growth through her literature and media outlet. But many still lack knowledge and sound judgment to face the challenges of life and ministry because they ignore these materials. How frequent do you study the word of God? Make it a habit and you will grow spiritually.

*REFLECTION:* _Study to show yourself approved._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, help me to give myself to study. Amen._

*TEXT: JOHN 14:1-4*

1. _"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me._
2. _My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?_
3. _And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am._
4. _You know the way to the place where I am going."_

*TOPIC: HE COMFORTS*

Comfort is the easing of a person's feeling of grief or distress. Death, loss and separation of loved ones bring grief. The disciples were sad when Jesus was about to leave them. Jesus comforts them to trust in God and in him. He also promised them a heavenly dwelling with the Father. He assured them of his soon return to take them to be with him. This message of hope, assurance, and the promise of eternal fellowship with God through faith in Christ Jesus comforts the believer. It also implies that Jesus is actively engaged in securing a future for every believer. Persecutions, incessant killings and destruction of lives and property cause great distress. Be relieved, Jesus is your comfort and dwelling.

*REFLECTION:* _Accept Jesus' comfort._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, comfort us in our present situation. Amen._

*TEXT: HEBREWS 1:1-4*

1. _In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,_
2. _but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe._
3. _The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven._
4. _So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs._

*TOPIC: HE HOLDS THE UNIVERSE TOGETHER*

The Scripture is replete with instances of God communicating with humanity in various ways. Today's text presents God's ultimate revelation in the Son - a significant shift in His mode of communication. Jesus is not only the final and superior revelation, but an heir of all things and the agent through whom God created the world. He is the radiance of God's glory. He is actively upholding the universe by the word of his power, sustaining and governing all of creation. Besides, he forgives and purifies us from sin. Sometimes our lives get shattered, and seemingly unredeemable, but Jesus who holds the universe can fix it. Surrender your life to him now. Do not be drifted away or give in to any teaching that contradicts the supremacy of Christ.

*REFLECTION:* _Jesus upholds all of creation._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, take pre-eminence over my life. Amen._

*TEXT: MATTHEW 8:23-27*

23. _Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him._
24. _Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping._
25. _The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!"_
26. _He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm._
27. _The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"_

*TOPIC: HE CONTROLS NATURE*

A storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds, sometimes accompanied by rain, thunder, and lightning. Its surge can result to loss of lives and property. While Jesus and his disciples were in a boat, a great storm arose on the sea, but Jesus was asleep. The disciples were terrified and feared for their lives. They quickly awaken Jesus, who rebuked and calmed the storm. His ability to command the winds and the sea demonstrates his divine authority and control over the forces of nature. Life is full of storms. Since Jesus calmed the storm on the sea, he can equally calm the storms of your life. Are you passing through turbulent situations like spiritual attacks, wizardry, terminal illness, a loveless marriage, and the likes? Call on Jesus!

*REFLECTION:* _Nothing is impossible for Jesus._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, calm my storms. Amen._

*TEXT: JOHN 15:9-17*

9. _"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love._
10. _If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love._
11. _I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete._
12. _My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you._
13. _Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends._
14. _You are my friends if you do what I command._
15. _I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you._
16. _You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit —fruit that will last —and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you._
17. _This is my command: Love each other._

*TOPIC: HE LOVES*

Love is a strong affection and a deep caring for the existence of another. Jesus showed an unconditional love to his disciples by serving and revealing the Father's will even unto death. What a true and a pure love! He then commanded them to remain in his love through obedience and love for one another. Doing so will give them a deep and abiding joy, build trust, mutual understanding and shared purpose. Verily, the love we give to our fellow human beings is tantamount to loving Jesus. It is disheartening to note how some believers criticise, insult, and take advantage of others, even in homes and workplaces. Do you show Christ-like love to others? Think about that!

*REFLECTION:* _True believers love one another._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, enable me to love others. Amen._

16TH FEBUARY,2025.

Preacher:Rev Joseph Tyos Davou(leading pastor )

Text: Matthew 18:15-20

Sub-theme: Jesus our focal point

Topic: Jesus and relationship

*Jesus' concern here is our relationship as His children and followers with one another. We are social beings ,as such we must mingle and relate with one another.

*The big question here is,how can we sustain an everlasting relationship that will take us to eternity??

* Three steps laid down by Jesus to be taken when offended by a brother or sister:
1. Meet the person that offended you and point it out to him or her(the offended meeting the offender). In humility ,one who knows Christ should do this easily . Leviticus 19:17,James 5:19-20.
2. Take two or three witnesses to meet the offender . Always look for sincere people to go with you. 1 Timothy 5:19,2cor.
3. Take the case to the church : this is the final stage, and if the offender still insist and refused to listen ,then the church should consider such person as a pagan. The church will decide what to do with such person, possible discipline .

We must learn to follow Jesus' foot steps to live peaceably with one another .

Remain blessed and rapturable .

*TEXT: MATTHEW 9:1-8*

1. _Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town._
2. _Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."_
3. _At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!"_
4. _Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?_
5. _Which is easier: to say, ’Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ’Get up and walk’?_
6. _But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins." So he said to the paralyzed man, "Get up, take your mat and go home."_
7. _Then the man got up and went home._
8. _When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man._

*TOPIC: HE FORGIVES I*

To forgive is to pardon and wave any desire for punishment. Today's text shows how friends of the paralytic displayed faith and determination by bringing him to Jesus. Instead of addressing the physical ailment, Jesus declared the forgiveness of of the man's sins. Then he commanded, "Rise, pick up your bed and go home". The ability to forgive is the evidence that he is the Son of God. In the midst of fear and awe, the people praised God who had given such authority to men. Jesus' forgiving ministry teaches us to also forgive our offenders. We will not only free them of guilt, but also relieve ourselves from unnecessary burdens and hurts. Is there someone you need to forgive? Do so today!

*REFLECTION:* _Forgiveness is not optional for believers._

*PRAYER:* _Father, help me to forgive my offenders today, in Jesus' name. Amen._

*TEXT: JOHN 10:14-16*

14. _"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me —_
15. _just as the Father knows me and I know the Father —and I lay down my life for the sheep._
16. _I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd._

*TOPIC: HE SHEPHERDS*

The Psalmist describes God as a shepherd who guides, leads, protects, restores and satisfies (Ps. 23). Jesus identifies himself as the good Shepherd, emphasizing his role in guiding, protecting and nurturing his followers. He knows them by name, signifying the depth of intimate relationship he shares with them. He lays down his life for the sheep, declaring his commitment to their well-being and sacrificial love to save them from sin and condemnation. As a good Shepherd, he has concern for other sheep that are not yet in the flock. This shows his mission to bring salvation and unity to all who believe in him. Today, Jesus is using under-shepherds (pastors) to guide, direct, protect and nurture the flock (1 Pet. 5:1-4). Be willing to do the work he entrusted to you faithfully.

*REFLECTION:* _Do not stray away from the good Shepherd._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, enable me to heed your voice. Amen._
