*TEXT: LUKE 19:1-10*

1. _Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through._
2. _A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy._
3. _He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd._
4. _So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way._
5. _When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today."_
6. _So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly._
7. _All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a sinner."_
8. _But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount."_
9. _Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham._
10. _For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."_

*TOPIC: ZACCHAEUS*

Our text introduces us to Zacchaeus, a chief text collector who was rich. He desired to see Jesus but his height was a hindrance, so he found a way out. Zacchaeus responded to Jesus' invitation and received him joyfully. Being a tax collector and termed a "sinner", he got converted when he encountered Christ. He gave substantially to the poor and restored fourfold to all he might have swindled (cf. 2 Sam. 12:6). Zacchaeus found hope in Jesus, something more than gold and silver. What are you guilty of? Do not allow it to hinder you from responding to Jesus' call. Make it a day of repentance and make restitution where necessary.

*REFLECTION:* _Jesus is more precious than riches._

*PRAYER:* _Father, help me to scale all obstacles in my life to behold Jesus. Amen._

*TEXT: ACTS 8:26-39*

26. _Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road —the desert road —that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza."_
27. _So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eu**ch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means "queen of the Ethiopians"). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship,_
28. _and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet._
29. _The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it."_
30. _Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked._
31. _"How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him._
32. _This is the passage of Scripture the eu**ch was reading: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth._
33. _In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth."_
34. _The eu**ch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?"_
35. _Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus._
36. - 37. _As they traveled. along the road, they came to some water and the eu**ch said, "Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?"_
38. _And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eu**ch went down into the water and Philip baptized him._
39. _When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eu**ch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing._

*TOPIC: PHILIP THE EVANGELIST*

Philip preached the gospel in Samaria, performed miracles, and many got converted (8:5-8). He obediently left the successful outing for a lonely road to minis

*TEXT: DANIEL 3:16-18*

16. _Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter._
17. _If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand._
18. _But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”_

*TOPIC: DO NOT COMPROMISE YOUR FAITH*

In this text, king Nebuchadnezzar set up an image and decreed that all people in his kingdom worship it. Anyone who failed to do so would be thrown into a blazing furnace. The three Hebrew youths refused to comply because it is idolatry. They would not compromise their faith by ascribing the worship due to the only and one true God to an idol. Without fear, they were ready to bear the consequence of their decision. Christians worldwide are facing challenges that place demand on their allegiance to the One true God. Many are denied key positions in government because of their faith or religious stance. When faced with similar demands, be bold and do not cave in.

*REFLECTION:* _Be on the Lord’s side and you will never regret it._

*PRAYER:* _Thank you Lord, for the grace not to compromise my faith. Amen._

*TEXT: JOHN 1:29-34*

29. _The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!_
30. _This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’_
31. _I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”_
32. _Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him._
33. _And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’_
34. _I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”_

*TOPIC: THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB*

The angel of destruction passed over the children of Israel because of the blood of the lamb (Exodus 12:21-23). In today's text, Jesus is recognised as the holy and blameless Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He entered the Most Holy Place with his own blood to atone for and obtain eternal redemption for humanity (Hebrews 9:12). This fulfilled Isaiah's prophesy that Christ would be a sacrificial lamb (53:7). His death rendered animal sacrifices futile, and reconciles the believer to a right living with God. John affirmed that he knew Jesus' presence because the Father revealed it to him. You may not receive such special revelation, but do not defy the testimonies of godly men about his saving grace. Accept Jesus and be saved.

*REFLECTION:* _Only Jesus can save._

*PRAYER:* _Thank you Jesus, for your saving grace. Amen._

*Today's Bible Reading Plan:* _Acts 16-18_
