Topic: The chaplain and the ministry of The Holy Spirit

Introduction:
Like it has been established, the chaplain is a servant of God who totally depends on the Holy Spirit. The Chaplain is not like the regular pastor, he is a colleague of the Pastor and the difference between Chaplain and a Pastor is that, Chaplain is a servant, counselor and have some level of regimented training. He is a spiritual advisor, often found in settings like hospitals, prisons, and the military. He offers comfort and guidance, drawing on their faith. The Holy Spirit is a divine presence in many faiths, He inspires, guides, and empowers an individual.
Chaplains minister to people not being bias by the doctrine because the problem of the Church is doctrine. That is why Chaplains must be objective.
The Objectives of the
Chaplain and The Holy Spirit:
1. To proclaim the Great commission according to Matthew 28:18-21 which has two words namely; "Teaching the word and Baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit".
2. To help the needy according to Act 10:38 and Luke 4:18.
3. To recruit, train and equip the end time Army. The chaplain should know that, he is a minister of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that the church has gone beyond the four corner walls of the building. The chaplain is a servant and the uniform represents administrative Rank and file. He is not a member of Nigerian military. We have Military Chapel, Clinical Chapel, industrial and market chaplaincy. History of chaplaincy made us to know that the core of chaplaincy is not force but it is the Ministry of The Holy Spirit:
Jeremiah 7:9 talked about the heart of a man which is desperately wicked. Man is a tripartite being who has a spirit, soul and body. The middle man is the soul, your thought, your memory, past, present and your projection lies there. The sit of the memory is the mind and all the activities are restored in the mind.
The Bible says, renew the mind not to recreate but the Holy Spirit will recreate. The chaplain is an information manager, emotional manager, service provider and a teacher. Chaplain keeps secrets and should be disciplined not to disclose things to anybody not even to his or her spouse.
Qualities of A Chaplain;
1. A chaplain should be of a good character
2.. He/ She must be Honest.
3. He/She must be a person of integrity. All the above must be seen in the life of a chaplain. According to 1cor. 2:9-10. The difference between chaplain and a trained counselor in the university is that the chaplains have listening ear and depend on the Holy Spirit and their tool is care-giving and the platform is service. The chaplain believe in the word of God and the Holy Spirit John 16:13.. because He knows everything, sees everything, and you cannot use only psychology because it stops on the soul. You must know that Chaplain solve the problem from the known to unknown by asking questions and depends on the leading of The Holy Spirit. He is objective and subjective. Chaplain must find out things through the holy Spirit, he should not be quick to conclude. Do a referral when necessary as it is obtained in medical fields such as home remedy, hospital check ups etc.
Question: Do you have the holy Spirit? Find out and know Him intimately as a chaplain, develope a relationship with Him and learn to converse with him. Rom. 8: 26.
In concussion, The Holy Spirit is the major thing as a Levite and man has a soul, spirit and body. Do not allow anything evil to manipulate, intimidate, dominate, etc or to have effect on you. Prepare your heart and be filled with the Holy Ghost and totally depend on him.
In all the work, do not think you will be the only one to finish it, you may be the starter and God will send someone else to finish it but remember your tools as a chaplain.
