A SHORT STORY
Like every other graduate, I received my call-up letter, said my goodbyes and hit the open road.
To a land, unknown, strange & unexplored; with nothing but a handful of advises and suggestions (buy a sweat shirt, don't leave your body exposed etc).
Got to Jos at about 10pm, hungry, dirty, tired, a tad bit confused but decided to stay calm and out of nowhere help sprang.
A corper in the bus told me about NCCF and described the family house in Jos to me.
I followed his instructions and received the most beautiful welcome, like I was a lost son found, I was met with greetings and slightly awkward celebrations (because I wasn't used to that level of excitement).
That night, I was treated to a warm bath and a hot meal! Free food? You guessed right.
My point is , in a land where I knew no one, had no relatives and even my friend's houses were too far, I found refuge in a non-denominational corpers lodge and most importantly, I found counsel because I was in the midst of people that had trodden the path I was about to sojourn!
And I know my experience isn't peculiar, most of us have been hosted, fed, clothed, advised and directed by people we didn't even know in the first place.
