THE PROPHET FORBADE IT — THEN A COMPANION SAW HIM DO IT

Have you ever heard of the word "Double standard"? Maybe you have!

Several authentic reports state that Muhammad forbade people from facing the Qibla while urinating or defecating.

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari and others narrated that the Prophet said: do not face the Qibla and do not turn your back to it when relieving yourself; face east or west instead.

Yet another companion reported something different.

Jabir ibn Abdullah said (Sunan Ibn Majah 325; Sunan Abi Dawud 13):

“The Messenger of Allah forbade us from facing the Qibla when urinating. But I saw him, one year before he died, facing the Qibla (while urinating).”

The report is graded hasan by al-Albani and others.

One set of Hadiths presents a clear prohibition.
Another companion, close to the end of the Prophet’s life, reports seeing him do the very thing that was forbidden.

Classical scholars later explained the difference by saying the ban applied only in open spaces, while it was allowed if there was a wall or barrier. That explanation may resolve the practical ruling for later Muslims. It does not remove the fact that the reports, taken at face value, show the Prophet both issuing a prohibition and then being observed acting contrary to it.

Truth does not pity anyone.
When the same body of Hadith contains both a clear command and a companion’s eyewitness account that the Prophet himself did the opposite near the end of his life, the tension remains part of the tradition. Later reconciliations do not erase the original reports.

Muslims claim that Jesus did not speak in English (A very common argument), yet that same Jesus (abi Isa) spoke in Arabic in the Quran, and also had his name changed from Yeshua (Hebrew) to Isa (Only in the Quran).

Not just that, the Isa of the Quran spoke a Quraishi Arabic... 😆
