SINCERITY IN OUR WORSHIP

“Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. And Peter answered her, ‘Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?’ She said, ‘Yes, for so much.’ Then Peter said to her, ‘How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.’ Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.” (Acts 5:7-10)

Ananias and Saphira were pretending a devotion to Jesus they did not have. They were hypocrites. It’s easy to point the finger and say, “It’s too bad they did that.” But have you done the same thing? Have you sung the words in worship such as, “Naught that I have my own I call, I hold it for the giver. My heart, my strength, my life, my all are His, and His forever.” Have you meant it? Have you stood and sung, “All to I surrender, all to Him I freely give?” If we are not sincere about it, we are no better than Ananias and Saphira.

There are some who have sung the hymn “Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.” But we hold it with all our might; it’s pretending. *Words are cheap. We must be careful. The root of this sin is pride, and the fruit is pretense.*

What are some ways you might be guilty of singing or speaking words of devotion to Jesus you didn’t really mean?
Why is it easier to point the finger at someone else rather than seeing the hypocrisy in our own lives?

*ARE YOU AVAILBE FOR GOD TO USE?*

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

The Apostle Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ.” *What can a dead man do? Nothing. It is only Christ in me who can do anything.*

There was a preacher who used to keep a tattered, leather glove on his desk. Each Sunday before he’d go out to preach, he would slip his hand into the glove, flex it several times, take the glove off, and put it on his desk and go back out and preach. Someone asked, “Why do you do that?” He said, “To remind me that this glove is powerless until my hand is slipped into it, and then I say, ‘O God, as my hand has activated this glove, I want you, Lord Jesus, to activate my life. I want you, Lord, to enter into me and inhabit my humanity and live Your life through me.”

The reason the people of the Early Church lived with such power is, it really wasn’t them doing it; it was Jesus. It has been said, “Lord, I can’t; You never said I could, but You can, and You always said You would.” *The great ability you need is availability. Bringing the world to Christ is not your responsibility; it is your response to His ability.* We have a mission "impossible." Only He can fulfill the mission through us.

Day3 @ the 11th bi-annual youth camp. So far we
Made friends from fellow congregations all over Nigeria we are having a wonderful , How beautiful must be. we sing so wonderfully in the auditorium. The are good songs to reflect on often.
