Do you want to be part of our religious family?

Assess yourself and your motivations with these words of our Founder:

"The one who wants to be one of us must be inflamed with love.
He will have to burn with the desire for his own perfection, for Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church,
with an ardent zeal for the salvation of souls.
He will have to free his heart from any disordered affection for the things of this earth,
and from immoderate attachment to his parents and to the place of his birth;
He must have no desire for profit, but rather regard riches as mud,
in order to seek no other gain than Jesus Christ;
He must have the desire to devote himself only to the service of God and the Church,
either in the Missions or in the other ministries of the Congregation.

He will have to, finally, have the will to persevere to death in fidelity and obedience to the Rules of our Institute”.

Seven Novices Make Their First Profession in Sri Lanka
Bandarawela, Sri Lanka | August 23, 2026
The Sacred Heart Novitiate Sidipiyanila in Bandarawela celebrated a joyful occasion on August 23 as seven novices made their First Profession as Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

The newly professed are:
Bro. Chamika Shenal (Colombo Province)
Bro. Janith Shaminda (Colombo Province)
Bro. Kevin Robert (Colombo Province)
Bro. Shamel De Silva (Colombo Province)
Bro. Sham Rithushan (Jaffna Province)
Bro. Shaleem Asif (Pakistan Delegation)
Bro. Shuvon Kisku (Bangladesh Delegation)

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Roshan Silva, OMI, Provincial Superior of Colombo Province, together with Fr. Jayanthan Pachchek, OMI, Provincial Superior of Jaffna Province, and Fr. Dudley Saparamadu, OMI, Novice Master.

The celebration was enriched by the presence of Oblates from across the Asia-Oceania Region who were in Sri Lanka for the Asia-Oceania Formation Conference (AOFC) in Jaffna, as well as members of the Central Government who are currently in the country for provincial election consultations. Family members, Oblate Lay Associates, students, and many well-wishers also joined in this moment of thanksgiving.

We pray that these newly professed brothers will continue to grow in their vocation and live the Oblate missionary spirit with joy, generosity, and fidelity. Oblate Province of Colombo

Good evening, beloved family.

To the glory of God, our outing to St. Michael Police Catholic Chaplaincy today was a great success. After our evangelism and the Holy Mass, we were blessed with 11 new young people who have joined the Oblate Youth family.

On behalf of this great family, let us all come out and warmly welcome our new brothers and sisters. Let us make them feel at home and show them the love and unity of the Oblate family.

Welcome to the family! ❤️🙏🏽

Gospel of the Day (Matthew 16,13-20)

Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi and he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Then he strictly ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Messiah.
