AMP: From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent (change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Why is God expecting perfection from us(Mathew 5:48; Genesis 17:1)? God wants us to be perfect for the following reasons:

1. He created us in His own image (Genesis 1:26; Ephesians 4:24;1John4:8,16; 1Peter1:15,16)
2. God did not create man with sinful nature. The sinful nature was acquired by all human beings as a result of Adam& Eve's disobedience.
3. Heaven is a place for those who are perfect in righteousness
4. God hates sin but loves righteousness
5. Jesus Christ died on the cross and nailed all our sins to present us righteous before God through our faith in Him.

Real love is unconditional and it is characterized by sacrifice, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, selfcontrol, meekness, faith in God, joy, and peace.
