COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON “ENHANCED POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AND SOCIAL JUSTICE AS A PANACEA FOR UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA”
Organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS), National Headquarters, Jos, on 10th Rabi’ul-Awwal, 1448H (23rd August, 2026), at Saddeqa Event Centre, Jos
The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS), founded by Sheikh Isma’ila Idris Zakariyya (Rahamatullahi Alaihi), National Headquarters Jos, at the conclusion of its National Symposium on “Enhanced Political Participation and Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria,” held at Saddeqa Event Centre on 23rd August, 2026, having brought together over 350 participants made up of Islamic scholars, political leaders, academics, professionals, youth representatives and other stakeholders, hereby issues the following communiqué:
1. On Political Development
The Symposium recognises that democratic governance, justice, accountability and responsible leadership are essential to Nigeria’s stability and development.
The Organisation therefore:
✓Calls on political leaders at all levels to place the national interest above personal, ethnic, religious and partisan interests.
√Urges citizens to participate actively and peacefully in democratic processes, including elections and constructive engagement with government.
✓Calls for greater transparency, accountability and responsible use of public resources.
✓Encourages political parties to promote issue-based politics, internal democracy and competent leadership rather than hate speech, manipulation and divisive rhetoric.
✓Urges government institutions to uphold the rule of law and treat all citizens fairly and equally.
2. Enhanced Political Participation
