Salvation Voices - Church Band ECWA Sabon Gari. Church Music Ministry SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATION
1 Chronicles 16:23
"Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; show forth from day to day his salvation."

MISSION
To glorify God by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through biblically sound, Spirit-led music;
leading the congregation in reverent worship, supporting the mission of the Church, and
encouraging holy living through discipleship and service. We are committed to upholding the
authority of God’s Word, exalting Christ alone, and using music as a tool for evangelism, edification,
and spir

itual growth. VISION
To become a spiritually vibrant and doctrinally sound music ministry that raises Christ-centered
worshippers, inspires a lifestyle of holiness, and advances the Gospel within the Church and
beyondβ€”impacting lives for eternity. Colossians 3:16
β€œLet the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord.”

We learned that some want to use the "Keep it Burning" track for their reels and TikTok.
We deeply apologize for that, it'll be available on all digital music stores and platforms on the 21st of this month by God's Grace.

10 Habits That Weaken a Church Music Group or Choir
Inconsistent Attendance:
Members attend rehearsals and services only when convenient.
The group becomes unpredictable, and musical unity suffers.

Lateness:
Members routinely arrive after rehearsals have started or shortly before ministration.
It wastes the time of those who came early and encourages a culture where punctuality is no longer valued.

Taking Rehearsals Lightly:
Coming to rehearsal without preparation, chatting throughout, playing around, or treating rehearsal as a social gathering.
Rehearsal should be where excellence is developed, not where commitment is negotiated.

Mediocrity and Lack of Personal Development:
Members stop improving their vocals, instruments, musical knowledge, stage presence, or spiritual capacity.
"This is how we've always done it" gradually becomes an excuse for stagnation.

Poor Commitment:
Members say yes to responsibilities but repeatedly fail to follow through.
A group cannot become strong when its members' commitment depends on their mood, schedule, or personal convenience.

Lack of Teamwork:
Singers compete with one another, instrumentalists refuse correction, sections operate independently, or people prioritize their own sound over the entire group.
A choir is not a collection of individual performers; it is a team.

Resistance to Correction:
Leaders can no longer correct members without arguments, offence, excuses, or resentment.
When correction becomes "insult," growth becomes almost impossible.

Overfamiliarity With Leadership:
Members become so familiar with leaders that instructions are treated casually.
Respect for leadership doesn't mean leaders are infallible; it means the structure of the team is respected.

Spiritual Carelessness:
Prayer, personal devotion, holiness, humility, and genuine desire to serve God gradually become secondary to performance.
The group may sound good musically while becoming weak spiritually.

Gossip, Cliques, and Unresolved Conflicts:
Members form factions, discuss one another behind their backs, harbour offences, or allow disagreements to remain unresolved.
Eventually, people stop trusting one anotherβ€”and musical unity becomes difficult when relational unity is broken.

The dangerous part
Most of these habits don't destroy a group overnight.

They usually develop like this:

Small lateness β†’ repeated lateness β†’ accepted lateness β†’ poor discipline β†’ reduced commitment β†’ declining quality β†’ frustration β†’ conflict β†’ weakened team.

Likewise:

Small compromises β†’ tolerated mediocrity β†’ lowered standards β†’ loss of excellence β†’ loss of credibility.

And perhaps the most important distinction is this:

A church music group should not pursue excellence instead of spirituality, nor spirituality instead of excellence. It should pursue both.

Excellence is not perfection. It is giving God and the congregation our best.
