MEET THE BISHOP WHO HAS WORKED IN 3 DIOCESES

Did you know Archbishop Kaigama has shepherded THREE different dioceses?

Most Catholics know him as Archbishop of Abuja, but his journey started in 1995:

1. Diocese of Jalingo – appointed the pioneer bishop and built the diocese from scratch.

2. Archdiocese of Jos – led the Church through challenging times of conflict, becoming a voice for peace.

3. Archdiocese of Abuja – succeeded Cardinal John Onaiyekan, leading the nation’s capital archdiocese.

Along the way, he also served as President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, representing the Church nationally.
Three dioceses. One faithful shepherd. 🙏

FEAST OF THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which commemorates the moment when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the River Jordan. This event marks the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry and reveals His identity as the Son of God. As Jesus emerged from the water, the heavens opened, the Holy Spirit descended like a dove, and the voice of the Father was heard saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

The feast reminds us that although Jesus was without sin, He chose to be baptized to fully identify Himself with humanity and to sanctify the waters of baptism. It also points to the Holy Trinity: the Son being baptized, the Spirit descending, and the Father speaking.

For us, this celebration is a call to remember our own baptism. It invites us to renew our commitment to live as children of God, to walk in faith, and to continue Christ’s mission of love, service, and humility in the world.
