*Day 26: Fear That Your Deeds May Not Be Accepted*
As Ramaḍān nears its end, the believer should not only be concerned about doing *good deeds* , but about whether those deeds are *accepted by Allah.*
Allah describes the righteous:
> وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَاجِعُونَ
“And those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will return to their Lord.”
— Qur'an 23:60
When this verse was mentioned, Aisha bint Abi Bakr asked the Prophet ﷺ whether it referred to those who commit sins such as theft or drinking alcohol.
The Prophet ﷺ clarified that it refers to those who pray, fast, and give charity, yet they fear that their deeds may not be accepted.
This is the state of the true believer.
He does good deeds, yet he does not feel secure about them. His heart remains humble, fearing rejection while hoping for acceptance.
The believer therefore lives between two wings: hope and fear.
Fear that his shortcomings may prevent his deeds from being accepted.
Hope in the vast mercy of Allah that He will accept even small deeds done sincerely.
Too much security leads to pride and negligence, while despair leads to giving up. But the balanced believer walks between hope and fear, continuing to strive while constantly asking Allah for acceptance.
So in these final nights of Ramaḍān, increase in duʿā’:
“O Allah, accept from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
For the real success is not merely performing deeds — but that Allah accepts them.
