Actor , a devoted Catholic known for refusing to perform kissing or s*x scenes out of respect for his wife, recently made a rare exception in his latest filmβ€”but in a way that remained faithful to his convictions. When the script required a kiss at the end of the movie, McDonough persuaded his wife, RuvΓ©, to take on the role of the woman he kisses on screen.

The couple, who share five children, made the decision together in order to preserve McDonough’s long-standing personal values while still fulfilling the demands of the story. Throughout his career, McDonough has remained steadfast in his beliefs, even when it came at great personal and professional cost.

In 2010, he reportedly lost a $1 million role on the ABC television series Scoundrels after refusing to perform intimate scenes with actress .

Reflecting on the experience, McDonough said:
β€œThey told me, β€˜You have to do it, or you’re fired.’ I responded, β€˜Then fire me,’ and they did. I was blackballed for two years and struggled to find work. During that time, I lost my home, my car, and even my confidence. It was devastating. Many people viewed me as a religious extremist, but for me, it was simply about remaining faithful to my convictions. Above all, I love my wife. As I’ve said many times, these lips are meant for one woman.”

Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, is a powerful witness to the transforming grace of God and the boundless reach of Divine Mercy. Born in 1969 in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised in a Catholic family but struggled during his teenage years with confusion, rebellion, and a deep search for meaning and identity.

As a young man, Calloway drifted far from his faith. By his mid-teens, he had run away from home and become involved in street gangs, seeking acceptance and purpose in destructive environments. During this period, he fell heavily into substance abuse, experimenting with alcohol, ma*****na, co***ne, and hallucinogens. His life became marked by violence, recklessness, criminal behavior, and repeated encounters with danger. Reflecting on those years, he has described them as a time of spiritual darkness, emptiness, and hopelessness.

Yet even amid the chaos, God was at work. Through the influence of compassionate priests, faithful Catholics, and the inspiring stories of converted saints, Calloway slowly began to encounter the truth of God’s mercy. Central to his conversion was a growing devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose maternal guidance led him toward prayer, repentance, and a renewed understanding of Christ’s love.

In his late teens, Calloway experienced a profound and life-changing conversion. He abandoned his former way of life, turning away completely from drugs, gangs, and destructive behavior to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to Jesus Christ. His spiritual renewal eventually led him to join the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, a religious congregation devoted to spreading devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the message of Divine Mercy.

Ordained to the priesthood, Fr. Donald Calloway has since become an internationally recognized Catholic speaker, author, and evangelist. Through his testimony, preaching, and writings, he continues to inspire countless people with the message that no one is beyond the reach of God’s mercy and the power of true conversion.

πŸ”₯ IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES NECESSARY TO PROVE SOMEONE HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT? ✝️

This question has caused debates among Christians for many years. Some believe that speaking in tongues is the main evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit, while others believe the Holy Spirit works in many different ways beyond tongues.

But what does the Bible actually teach?

On the Day of Pentecost, the Apostles spoke in tongues after receiving the Holy Spirit:

πŸ“– β€œAnd they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” β€” Acts 2:4

Because of this verse, many people conclude that every true believer must speak in tongues. However, when we carefully study Scripture, we discover something important:

⚠️ NOT EVERY BELIEVER RECEIVES THE SAME SPIRITUAL GIFT.

St. Paul clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit gives different gifts to different people.

πŸ“– β€œNow there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.” β€” 1 Corinthians 12:4

πŸ“– β€œTo one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom… to another gifts of healing… to another various kinds of tongues.” β€” 1 Corinthians 12:8-10

Notice that tongues is mentioned as ONE gift among MANY gifts.

Then St. Paul asks a powerful question:

πŸ“– β€œAre all apostles? Are all prophets? Do all speak in tongues?” β€” 1 Corinthians 12:29-30

The obvious answer is NO.

This means speaking in tongues cannot be the only proof that someone has the Holy Spirit.

The greatest evidence of the Holy Spirit is not merely emotional experiences or dramatic manifestations β€” it is a transformed life.

πŸ“– β€œBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” β€” Galatians 5:22-23

A person may speak in tongues and still live in pride, hatred, division, impurity, or disobedience. On the other hand, another believer may never speak in tongues yet radiate holiness, humility, charity, and obedience to God.

Remember this:
πŸ•ŠοΈ Judas worked among the Apostles yet betrayed Christ.
πŸ•ŠοΈ The devil can imitate external signs.
πŸ•ŠοΈ But true holiness cannot be faked for long.

Even Jesus warned:

πŸ“– β€œNot everyone who says to me, β€˜Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven.” β€” Matthew 7:21

And He added:

πŸ“– β€œBy their fruits you will know them.” β€” Matthew 7:16

The Catholic Church teaches that the Holy Spirit is received in Baptism and strengthened in Confirmation. Spiritual gifts, including tongues, may be given according to God’s will β€” but no single gift is mandatory for all Christians.

The Holy Spirit is not limited to one manifestation.
He works through:
✨ holiness
✨ charity
✨ wisdom
✨ obedience
✨ courage
✨ prayer
✨ truth
✨ purity
✨ faithfulness

Tongues can be authentic and biblical when genuine. But making it the ONLY evidence of the Holy Spirit can create confusion, pride, fear, and spiritual pressure among believers.

The real question is not:
❌ β€œDo you speak in tongues?”

But rather:
βœ… β€œIs your life producing the fruits of the Holy Spirit?”

Because a Spirit-filled life is ultimately recognized not just by spiritual gifts…
…but by Christ-like character. βœοΈπŸ•ŠοΈ

πŸ“– β€œFor all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” β€” Romans 8:14

πŸ”₯ SHOULD CATHOLICS ATTEND WEDDINGS CONDUCTED OUTSIDE THE CHURCH? πŸ‡»πŸ‡¦βœοΈ

This question has become one of the most debated issues among Catholics today. Some believe attending such weddings is simply an act of love and family support, while others argue that it may appear as approving something contrary to Catholic teaching.

The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is not merely a social celebration or legal contract β€” it is a sacred covenant established by God. For Catholics, marriage is meant to take place according to the laws and sacramental traditions of the Church, usually before a priest and witnessed within the Church community.

Because of this, many Catholics struggle when invited to weddings held outside the Church, especially if:
β€’ A Catholic marries outside the Church without permission
β€’ The wedding is conducted only traditionally or civilly
β€’ The marriage contradicts Church teaching
β€’ The union involves beliefs or practices opposed to the Catholic faith

Some Catholics say:
β€œAttending shows love, respect, and family unity.”

Others insist:
β€œBeing present may scandalize others and seem like approval of something the Church does not recognize.”

There are also those who believe every situation should be handled with wisdom, compassion, and guidance from a priest rather than harsh judgment.

Supporters of attending often argue:
β€’ Jesus ate with sinners and never abandoned people
β€’ Family relationships matter deeply
β€’ Presence does not always equal approval
β€’ Refusing to attend can destroy family bonds

Those against attending argue:
β€’ Catholics must publicly uphold Church teaching
β€’ Marriage is sacred and should not be compromised
β€’ Attending may confuse younger Catholics
β€’ Silence can sometimes look like acceptance

This debate becomes even more emotional when it involves close friends, siblings, children, or parents.

So what should a faithful Catholic do?

The Church encourages Catholics to seek pastoral guidance, pray for wisdom, and carefully discern each situation with both truth and charity. Not every case is identical, and spiritual guidance matters greatly.

One thing is certain:
The discussion reveals how deeply Catholics care about marriage, family, obedience to the faith, and love for others.

Now let’s discuss respectfully:

Would you attend such a wedding?
Why or why not?
