Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, is a powerful witness to the transforming grace of God and the boundless reach of Divine Mercy. Born in 1969 in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised in a Catholic family but struggled during his teenage years with confusion, rebellion, and a deep search for meaning and identity.
As a young man, Calloway drifted far from his faith. By his mid-teens, he had run away from home and become involved in street gangs, seeking acceptance and purpose in destructive environments. During this period, he fell heavily into substance abuse, experimenting with alcohol, ma*****na, co***ne, and hallucinogens. His life became marked by violence, recklessness, criminal behavior, and repeated encounters with danger. Reflecting on those years, he has described them as a time of spiritual darkness, emptiness, and hopelessness.
Yet even amid the chaos, God was at work. Through the influence of compassionate priests, faithful Catholics, and the inspiring stories of converted saints, Calloway slowly began to encounter the truth of Godβs mercy. Central to his conversion was a growing devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose maternal guidance led him toward prayer, repentance, and a renewed understanding of Christβs love.
In his late teens, Calloway experienced a profound and life-changing conversion. He abandoned his former way of life, turning away completely from drugs, gangs, and destructive behavior to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to Jesus Christ. His spiritual renewal eventually led him to join the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, a religious congregation devoted to spreading devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the message of Divine Mercy.
Ordained to the priesthood, Fr. Donald Calloway has since become an internationally recognized Catholic speaker, author, and evangelist. Through his testimony, preaching, and writings, he continues to inspire countless people with the message that no one is beyond the reach of Godβs mercy and the power of true conversion.
