Happy Pentecost Sunday!
God’s Spirit strengthens your inner self
“…that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self,
and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love” Ephesians 3:16-17
Humanity ought to constantly thank our good God for sending us the Holy Spirit, the Advocate to strengthen our inner selves on our Christian journey in this world. How else could we have kept up the faith in our vulnerable selves in a volatile world as ours today, if Jesus had not been so kind to give us a spiritual helper?
Jesus asked God his Father to send us the Holy Spirit because he knows that without the powers of heaven steering us within to love him and to accomplish the goal of our redemption, our mortal and sinful nature will hold us captive in darkness in the world. It is the Holy Spirit that teaches us this eternal truth about God.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always,
the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you.” John 14:16-17
Jesus has opened an eternal door to us to access him through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus reassures us that the Spirit will remain with us to intercede for us in truth. Whatever we ask in the name of Jesus and is according to the will of God, we shall receive in his name.
Let us earnestly pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus to rekindle the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us so that we can bear a common witness as Christians to the world in these tumultuous days that God’s Spirit is the world’s healer and restorer of our peace to humanity.
Reflective Focus for the Week
Pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit this week, especially the gift you most need to steer you up spiritually. Reflect on Ephesians 3: 14-21, 4: 17-24, John 14: 15-31, 1 Corinthians 12: 1-11.
