ECWA Education Administrators’ Conference Concludes with a Call for Holistic Wellness in Schools
Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe, the General Secretary of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), officially declared opened the two-day ECWA Education Administrators’ Conference on August 20, 2026, at the ECWA Headquarters Conference Centre in Jos. Representing the ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Asheshe led the high-level assembly of school administrators, principals, primary school coordinators, and head teachers under the theme, “Wellness in ECWA Schools for Educational Performance.”
In his keynote declaration, Rev. Dr. Asheshe charged participants to pursue excellence in their respective institutions by prioritizing the comprehensive well-being of students and staff. He emphasized that a wellness-centered approach is instrumental not only in elevating academic outcomes but also in cultivating purposeful and value-driven lifestyles among learners, consistent with the foundational ethos of ECWA educational institutions.
Delivering the conference's keynote address, Rev. Prof. Stephen Oluwarotimi Baba, Director of the ECWA Education Department, reinforced the critical role of education in societal development. He underscored the unique mandate of educators as both problem solvers and catalysts for positive transformation, urging them to remain steadfast in their pedagogical responsibilities.
The conference featured a robust series of technical presentations addressing the multifaceted dimensions of wellness. Mrs. Elizabeth Luka led the first session with a paper titled “Dietary Wellness,” advocating for balanced nutrition as a cornerstone of physical health and cognitive function. Rev. Oladele Olarewaju Lere-Jimmy followed with a presentation on “Substance Consumption and Its Related Risks,” charging administrators to intensify awareness campaigns against illicit substances among the student population. Dr. Dapap concluded the sessions with an in-depth discourse on “Mental Health,” stressing that sound mental well-being is indispensable for sustainable productivity and a healthy lifestyle.
The proceedings culminated with a closing ceremony where Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe expressed profound appreciation to the delegates for their resilience and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Nigeria’s education sector. He subsequently presented certificates of participation in recognition of their active engagement.
The conference concluded with a renewed and urgent call to action for all education administrators and stakeholders to institutionalize wellness as a strategic driver of superior academic performance across the ECWA school system.
