Topic: THE LOST SHEEP! (Cont.)

Sheep symbolizes a person or servant who is obedient, gentle, loyal and someone who believes in the leadership of his leader and also lives his life at the command of his master (Shepherd).

Note: Some sheep are yet to be in the flock, they are outside the fold but at the appointed time they will come in. - John 10:16

A shepherd is the one who feeds, cares, provides, protects and tends sheep.

The Greek word for a shepherd is also used for a pastor - 'Poimen'

Simply means, a shepherd is a pastor and a pastor is a shepherd.

As a shepherd (Pastor), you're a representative of Jesus Christ in this world to shepherd His flock.

Jesus challenged Peter three times in the book of John 21:15-17, "If you love me, feed MY sheep". This is a responsibility of a good shepherd, to feed the sheep, not to milk the sheep!

THE LOST SHEEP.

A lost sheep could be anyone who was a member or a worker in your denomination who had misbehaved, derailed from the flock.

In verse 16 of John 21, Jesus said, "Tend my sheep". To tend is to look after. Why do you always feel less concerned when one sheep turned back, backslidden or get lost out of the flock?

Your responsibility as a good shepherd is to go and look after the sheep, and ensure he is in safe hand or you bring him back to the fold.

Jesus is more concerned about the lost sheep than the one in the flock!

Topic: THE LOST SHEEP!

Introduction: The reason behind why Jesus spoke this proverb was because of the criticism from the pharisees and the Scribes.

They criticized Jesus of welcoming and receiving the sinners and even eating with them.

Who are these critics of Jesus?

1. The Scribes: They are the religious Scholars and Torah Teachers. They draft legal documents like: marriage, loan, mortgages, divorce etc.

2. The Pharisee: They are the members of a sect that believed in following legal traditions that were ascribed not to the Bible but to the traditional fathers.

They believed in resurrection, but they had issues with how Jesus interpreted the Torah.

3. The Sadducees: though they were not mentioned in our text, but I will like to tell us about them for knowledge sake.

The Sadducees are members of a group that believed not in resurrection, angel, hell, heaven etc.

They believed souls die with the bodies.

DO THE NEEDFUL!

God will never do what you need to do for you to have breakthrough and be blessed. He rained down manna for the Israelites but He never brought it to their tents, they went out to do the needful or else they would have died of hunger. Receive wisdom and grace!

Don't hide under the pretense of prayer, God hate slothfulness.

There was famine in the land, despite the fact that God said to Isaac not to leave the land of Gerar, Isaac still sown and reaped 100 folds. He didn't say God said I should stay here, and fold his hands.

Adam was placed in the already fruitful garden, still, he tilled the ground.

Do the needful, pray and work, don't stay idle.

TOPIC: FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is not an optional but divine requirement for your own forgiveness if you want to make heaven and also have healthy life here on Earth.

Don't be decieved, God will attend to your prayers only after you have forgiven the one who offended you. For your prayers not just to be a mere spiritual exercise, forgive from your heart - Matt. 18:35.

Jesus commanded that you must forgive your fellow from your heart not just by lips - Matt. 18:35.

Read Matt. 6:12-15; Matt. 18:21-35; Mark 11:25-26 for more enlightenment.

WILDERNESS JOURNEY (2)

STAGES IN THE WILDERNESS continues

3. THE SENT - Exod.18:13-24.

Jethro was the only one who visited Moses in the wilderness and gave him godly counsel that helped to strengthen, relief and encouraged him in the journey.

Take note, when you're in your wilderness journey, many will avoid and forsake you, people who are capable of helping you will not help, do you know why? Because they are not SENT.

The reason been that, God want to teach, equip, gird and prepare you for the promised land.

When your SENT comes, you will definitely know, you need them to survive the wilderness journey.

Moses learnt, you must also learn from the one God sent to you if you don't want to repeat class.

People don't fail in God's training school (Wilderness) but people who failed to learn fast will repeat class until they learn.

Learn from your SENT Ones!

WILDERNESS JOURNEY (2)

STAGES IN THE WILDERNESS continues

2. PERIOD OF THIRSTY - Exod.15:22-27.

The children of Israel journeyed for three days and found no water, the only water they saw afar with the hope that it would satisfied their thirst was bitter.

What a terrible experience!

While in the wilderness, there are things that supposed to give you comfort but instead, they bring bitterness.

Instead of profits in business lost, instead of success in academic failure, instead of breakthrough in ministry retrogression etc.

Instead of the aforementioned to end your thirst and comforted you they bring the opposite. Don't be discouraged, it's part of wilderness experiences.

God knows about it, God allows it for a purpose best known to Him. The more you obeyed His precepts, the more you experienced uncomfortable condition.

Or the more you prayed, the more it seems God is far away from you. God is with you! His word says in the book of Isaiah 43:2 that when you are passing through all these, God is with you!

It's a season and it will fizzle away and your new season will come. You will soon reach your Elim (The place of twelve wells of waters and seventy Palm Trees, and temporary resting place) in Jesus Christ Name - Exd. 15:27.

Some of the things you must do during the thirsty period:

1. You must not put trust in human providence but in the power of God's providence.

2. Don't murmur but pour your heart to God in prayer.

3. Be an addicted worshipper.

WILDERNESS JOURNEY (2)

STAGES IN THE WILDERNESS:

1. THE RED SEA - Exod.14:10-31.

In the wilderness, you will get to a stage that it will seems there is no way forward.

Looking behind, group of enemies coming after you, at both your sides, overwhelming mountains, and before you stands RED SEA!

At this point, you're not alone, God is with you!

The only way out is to move forward, don't stand still!

Moses ordered the Israelites to stand still but God commanded them to move forward.

In moving forward lies way out, divine Instruction and victory over the enemies.

May God Almighty see you through your red sea stage in Jesus Christ Name.

WILDERNESS JOURNEY (1)

Between every Egypt and promised land there's inevitable wilderness.

Every single person will pass through his/her wilderness to the promised land, you can't escape it only if you don't have promised!

Four important things you need to survive wilderness and arrive the promised land:
1. The presence of God every day.
2. Perseverance to keep going.
3. Obedience to every Instruction.
4. Faith to believe in the divine leading.
May God Almighty bless you with these four in Jesus Christ Name.
