GRATITUDE TURNED A PRISON INTO A PALACE
Anchor Verse
Psalm 118:24 – "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
Action / Thought for the Day
Gratitude is not dependent on your circumstances. Today, choose to be grateful—even when your situation looks like a prison.
Reflection
There is a testimony that belongs to every believer who has learned the secret of gratitude: it transforms the way we see everything. A woman lay paralyzed on her bed. She could not move. She could not leave her room. People came to check on her only occasionally. By all appearances, she was in a prison. Yet when her pastor visited her, he found her smiling, beaming, glowing. He was shocked. He expected her to be moody and complaining. Instead, she said, "I thank God because I have a bed to lie upon. I thank God that the window is open, and I can see the blue sky and the sun shining. And I thank God that I have Jesus in my heart."
That woman did not fake her pain—she simply chose gratitude over self-pity. She transformed her prison into a palace. Gratitude is a special remedy. You cannot be grateful and not be joyful, and a joyful heart is good medicine. A broken spirit—a complaining spirit—dries up the bones. Gratitude is not a mood, and it does not depend on how much money you have or how smooth your day goes. It depends entirely on God's sustaining character, on who God is. When your emotions tell you to panic or to fear, respond by faith: "Thank You, Lord." Every time you see another breaking of the day, say thank You. Gratitude is a choice. Make it today.
Prayer / Declaration
Father, I choose gratitude over self-pity. I choose to see Your goodness even in hard places. Turn every prison in my life into a palace. Thank You for the day You have made—I will rejoice and be glad in it.
