The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide started spiritually when the founder of the church Late Prophet Dr J. Ositelu received his calling on the 19th of May in 1925 while he was still a Catechist in the Anglican Communion. The Church was formally inaugurated on the 27th July 1930 at Ogere, Ogun State of Nigeria

‘’ALADURA’’ is a Yoruba word (one of the prominent language in South West of Nige

ria) which means ‘’the PRAYING PEOPLE’’ or ‘’PRAYER FELLOWSHIP’’, that is, those who believe in the efficacy of prayers. The Church has spread across the borders of Nigeria to Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, United Kingdom, U.S.A., Germany and Republic of Ireland, hence the addition ‘’Worldwide’’ to its name. The church being a spiritual church is Pentecostal in Power, Prophetic in Ministry, Biblical in Pattern, Evangelical in Mission, Ecumenical in Outlokk and Social in Responsibility.
