A man after God's heart.
Acts 13:22, 1 Samuel 15:10-35.
God called David a man after his own heart, he even made an everlasting covenant with Him called it the sure mercies of David. Isaiah 55: 3
Saul was the first king in Israel, he was appointed and anointed when he doesn't expect it. He was latter rejected by God and replaced by David. God said I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will. Saul was rejected because he failed to fulfill all the will of God. He made the first mistake by forcing himself doing a priest assignment which was against the instruction giving to him. Secondly, he failed to follow God instructions to the letter in destroying Amalekite. 1 Samuel 13:1-14, 15:1-30.
How can a man be a man after God's heart.
1. Always pleased God.
Before anybody can be call a man after God's heart, that person must be somebody that always make God happy.
"And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased" Matthew 3:17. When any body learn how to make God happy, he/she will always found favour of the Lord. God can do anything for or because of anybody that make him happy. "15. And the Angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16. And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son,
17. That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. Genesis 22:5-17.
2. Doing what God want.
For any body to make God happy, the person must do what God want.
" 4.And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat there of, and the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering.
5. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect, and Cain was very worth, and his countenance fell. Genesis 4:4-5.
God accepted Abel's offering because he do what God want. It is one thing to do what is good, it is another thing to do what God want. Cain did good thing by offering sacrifice to God, but Abel did what God want. In Luke 10:38-42 Martha did what was good by trying to entertain Jesus, but Mary did what is needful. Also in John 12:1-8, Mary anointed the feet of Jesus Christ with a very costly ointment, while some of the Disciples count it to be wastage.
3. Knowing what God want.
For any body to do what God want, that person must first know what God want. In 1 Samuel 1:1-16, A young Amalekite man want to make David happy by delivered to him message of Saul's death but instead he saw the wrath of David and was killed, these was because he doesn't know what can make David happy at that time. If you want to make God happy try to know what he want and do it. 4.HAVING A REVELATION OF WHAT GOD WANT.
To do the Will of God, you must first know His will, to really know the will of God, you need God revelation. The secret of the Lord is with those who fear him, and he will show them his covenant Psalm 25:14. It means only God himself can make you know his covenant, because the way of God is an hidden way it need to be discovered, we can discover his way through him. Matthew 11:28-30.
To discover his way, you need to fear him.
Therefore:- to be a man after God's heart, you need fear of the Lord.Proverbs 1:7, Psalm 111:10, Proverbs 9:10.
Fearing God means having a deep reverence and respect for His power, wisdom, and love. By fearing God, we can gain a deeper understanding of His ways and live a life that pleases Him. seeking God's will, obeying His commands, and cultivating a personal relationship with Him. By doing so, we can become men and women after God's heart, just like David.
